playing with a drawing tablet (♡°ω°♡)

+ RAMBLINGS: 26.2.2019
I honestly don't know what drove me to get a drawing pad of my own (but I did), and I'm loving it??? ;u; I've been wanting to get one for a while now though I always had the thought that it was hella expensive, until I researched and found the Huion tablet, and Lazada was selling it for like sixy dollars so the impulsive me was like 'oh hell why not'....... so that's how I ended up splurging the last of my bonus on it lol. No regrets tho.

I've had a ton of things I've wanted to try, like designing logos and drawing my own stuff, but for the first trial I ended up making a new edit, featuring Jeonghan :') This was mostly spurred by the photos from Seventeen's YMMDawn era, bcs the concepts are so gorgeous aslfjlkfjdf and I wanted to practice more on creating 'webtoon-ish' like stuff. This was just for fun, and since I haven't blogged for a while I thought I could share a little something on what I did.

Original Image
+ Color Curves (Darkening)

Coloring
+ Surface Blur

While PS has lots to offer, I've been pretty lazy to go indepth into coloring so I basically use color lookups and adjust color layers from there :") The layers I used are (in order) - Color Lookup (2Strip Look), Vibrance (+100), Channel Mixer, Color Lookup (RedBlueYellow), Color Lookup (Pastel 8 Hues, Overlay). There's lots to explore just from color lookup itself, and even more when you play with overlay options.

Also, I picked up how you can actually make your images look smoother from a tutorial on youtube, and that's by using Surface Blur! I'm not sure if you can see the difference, but it basically softens edges and grains. The technique is to create two layers of your image - one with surface blur, and one without. Play with opacity on surface blur to find the level of 'smoothness' you'd like.

Making Highlights
+ Testing the drawing tablet!!!!

So after using the pen tool and a limited af touchpad for a long time, using an actual drawing pad to draw highlight lines was such an eye-opener?? I mean, the pen tool was sufficient enough to achieve the same effects, but drawing helped me make neater lines and with better precision, since I could literally trace the areas I wanted to highlight. To achieve the glowy effect, I set the layer to softlight, and added outer glow (this takes lots of experimenting to get right, which I still haven't yet ;u;). Again, this highlighting was a technique Kiki (chroma) taught me, and I can't thank her enough for trying to educate a lazy goon like me ;u;

And oh, I know they might look rly jagged and un-smooth in here, but damn Topaz clean is such a good investment to have (bcs its filters smoothen everything for you!!!!)

More Details
+ Punk Jeonghan????

Another good thing about the drawing pad is that I can!!! draw!!! my own details!!!! Believe it or not the piercings here are self-drawn, and numerous layer style settings were used to make them look 3D (basically inner glow, inner shadow and drop shadow). I drew the layer for the eyes too, though if only his fringe wasn't covering an eyebrow (I totally would draw a ring there heh).

Finishing Touches
+ Backgrounds, and Topaz

Slapped on a background and some text to complete it and whooooooooo I got a new dp? ;u; aslkjfkla okay it's still pretty amateurish as you can tell from the lines I drew on his hair (I need more practice) buttttttt gosh I'm so happy with the new drawing tablet I can't wait to do more with it (but if only I had the time, lol).

And you have reached the end of yet another rambling, thanks for readingggggg.
