Ryubami Yoruha the gods will punish you for this...I'm sure. Credit
faceclaim Ryubami Yoruha
Nickname(s) - Ryu-chan (ryu means dragon in japanese), hana (ha has the same character as hana; hana means flower), sakura-chan (some of the idiots at district 4 thinks she's as pretty as the sakura at home and her name literally means flower anyways)
Age/Birthdate - 18 / 03/14
District 4
Faceclaim/Backup: Mina myoui / junna sakai
Height/Weight: 165ccm, 50kg

Personality
'ryujin-sama is angry. and you should be afraid. very afraid.'
born into a family of priests and priestesses in charge of the temples and shrines in japan, especially the one for the sea god ryujin, yoruha is deep-rooted in the beliefs of shinto ever since she was little. It wasn't a question of whether she believes or not, since she was born into it. while she does learn about the science and theories behind natural disasters and all that, she decides to incorporate the two together, and have a balance of both, instead of having a preference. although sometimes, she does mention a comment or two about her 'other' beliefs, especially when she was on duty of taking care of ryujin's shrine.

'patience will be rewarded eventually.'
yoruha is patient, and she knows the advantages of it as well. with so many traditions that drag on for hours, she has been trained in the art of patience since a young age. this proved a massive advantage for her in the arena, as she not only waits, but observes, and both combined saved her many times.

'I operate under my own conditions. no objections.'
having to take care of herself since young, yoruha had learnt to fend for herself and is very independent. however, this caused her to be rather stubborn and headstrong sometimes refusing people's help as she sees them either as a nuisance or the thing needing help in as irrelevant. however, she'll cooperate if there are agreeable conditions, but grudgingly.

'yes, you're right. but i believe there is another approach to this.'
despite her usual obvious distate of needing to cooperate with others, when she works with others and actually gets along, yoruha is somewhat of a peacekeeper. it's true that she has a rather short temper, but she believes in resolving problems before fighting over something, and is in charge of breaking up arguments amongst the careers before she got away from them.

'there's no time. hurry up.'
one thing yoruha hates the most is wasting time. be it over some decision needed to be made quickly or breakfast, she makes the most of the time she's given and uses it to the fullest. therefore, she's often annoyed when people take too much time broading over some useless matter when the solution is pretty much dangling right in front of them. she also believes in fairness, and does not take preference as an excuse.

'i prefer not to make an appearance unless absolutely necessary.'
being so independent and often viewed as strange by the other children, yoruha is somewhat of a loner, and doesn't really like socializing unless absolutely necessary, and even then, barely makes a comment here or there. not that she's shy, however, it's merely that yoruha prefers to be alone and undisturbed.

'stand your ground, even as death is approaching.'
yoruha's father came from a family of samurai, and before he died, he had drilled the principles of being fearless into her head. she won't back down from a challenge unless it's life-threatening, and will see everything out to the end, even if she doesn't like the result. therefore, when she dies, she will go down fighting.

'I care. but obviously you do not. so there is no point for cooperation.'
yoruha is very sensitive about matters, and generally cares more than she should. when she sets her mind to something, she will strive to do the best and make the best of it. she especailly hates people who does everything half-heartedly beacuse what's the point even. that's why she refuses to let anyone drag her down. and also why she is a fearful opponent.

Appearance — before the age of eleven, she had her hair in a hime-cut and generally looked like a live japanese doll with her pale features, wide eyes and red lips. now, her fringe is parted to one side and her expressions are more natural. when she is at the shrine, yoruha wears her traditional robes, but when she's outside, she likes long skirts or cloth pants, hoodies and t-shirts, only in dark shades of colour. (e.g. dark pink)

Background — being born to a family of care-takers of shrines in japan, yoruha has been raised in the beliefs of shinto since a young age. however, since her parents died when she was little at the age of six, yoruha was forced to live with her grandmother through her childhood. because of this, she became extremely independent, and learnt to endure through the whispers and rumours circulating around school, as well as the strange stares thrown her way at a young age.

despite her being ryujin's priestess, yoruha still insisted in following her cousin into the sea, a way of life which was taken away from her because she was claimed to be more precious than others. while she certainly wasn't aiming to become a fishperson or deal in the trade, yoruha did learn more than a lot of some of the other kids her age due to her cousin being an expert in this field. And thank goodness she did too, otherwise she wouldn't have acquired the skills needed to survive in the arena. her grandmother had protested against this decision at first due to the dangers and the fact that the sea had claimed her son, but eventually gave in, seeing her steel-like determination.

and so yoruha grew up under the guidance of her grandmother as well as cousin, who's four years older than her and acts almost like an older brother to her. both fortunately and unfortunately, she attracts attention as she grows older, though no one dared to go near her because of her fierce older cousin. that is, until she got reaped at the age of eighteen despite the lack of need for tessarae and thus less slips of paper with her name written on it. but it didn't mattter, because she was chosen from the large pool of district four children and has the slip to show for it. (tell me if you want more details i can't think of any right now t t)

Trivia —
- her favourite colour is sea-green
-yoruha's name meant night flower, a reference to the night-blooming cereus
- it was a flower that her father had loved, and was gifted as a token from an old friend.
- thus yoruha's token in the arena was a pin with that flower on it, petals made of pearl and extremely beautiful
- sits by the beach and listens to the waves at the middle of the night when she's feeling anxious or restless
- can play the koto and shamisen, having learnt from her mother who had a geisha background
- learnt to hold her tongue after accidentally seeing her teacher being handed over the peacekeepers because of her talking about the 'real' nature of the capitol in front of her class
- her hobbies include reading, playing music, and copying poems with her beautiful calligraphy (beautiful calligraphy is something to be admired, and since district 4 doesn't have much beauty as compared to 1, calligraphy is one of the few things people hang up on their walls and actually respected and shown off. poems have profound meanings, and so yoruha makes quite some money selling her calligraphy)
- somewhat of an expert in identifying and cooking sea plants, especially since her cousin taught her everything she needs to know surviving in the wild
- unlike the other children, she had never recieved careers training prior to the arena because it was automatically thought that the children of the gods (what they call caretakers and priests and the like) would be excluded from the games, and someone would volunteer for their place anyways. however, they had an exceptionally bad year that year and many children had died, leaving a handful of the career-trained left, and most of them, especially the females, despised her for unknown reasons and left her to die.
- practices the kagura dance when she's free, even though she could probably do it in her sleep
- fears: fire, blood (some blood wouldn't freak her out but a huge pool of it would), cockroaches
- knows how to prepare fugu

ryubami takuya / older cousin / 70+/10 / left without parents due to the tsunami that took his parents and yoruha's father, the two formed somewhat of a natural sibling-like bond over the loss, which strengthened even more as they spend more time together and him teaching her stuff. he is an older-brother figure to yoruha, and is extremely protective of her as well. when she was chosen to the games, he was devastated, but held the promise of protecting their grandmother and continuing her duties at the temple through tears. since the two were the only child of their respective families, they each are the closest thing to a sibling both of them have. After yoruha got reaped, takuya was put in charge of the shrine, along with his grandmother. he still continues his fishing duties, and does the shrine-keeping duties when he's free. (faceclaim: umehara yuichiro)
'hana...please promise me you'll make it back safe.'

ryubami (nee fujisaki) himari / grandmother / 10/10 / himari was the one who took her and takuya in after both hers sons died in a tsunami, and had looked after and raised them ever since. she was originally the care-taker of susanoo's shrine, but after yoruha turned eight and was no longer viewed as merely the doll-like assistant everyone fawns over, she started teaching her the ways of managing the shrine and everything else needed. himari was kinder to yoruha, and harsher towards takuya, but that was the way it had to be. she had thought to pass on everything she knew and experienced to the pair of fine grandchildren she has before she dies, which would be inevitable anyways, except yoruha being reaped brought everything crashing down, and now himari has to live through the anguish of losing a younger kin who was supposed to live beyond her years again.
'arrogant child, have you even considered the consequences of death if you got swept away by the sea?'

nam jihyun / mentor / 9/10 / one of the careers girls that had taken home the crown, jihyun was a strict, no-nonsense mentor that demands everything from her tribute, expecting them to win. however, when she realised it wasn't a career tribute but the ryubamis' daughter (they are pretty much known by everyone), jihyun took pity on her and tried her best to train yoruha in the short period of time that they have before the games, which was close to none. luckily, yoruha is a fast learner, and picked up most of the stuff that jihyun taught. jihyun also gave her a lot of advice and warnings, so that yoruha could win and come back home safe and jihyun wouldn't need to suffer himari's grief and loss of spirit when she came home. (jihyun, like a lot of people in four, turns to ryujin for guidance during rough times, even though she is already a victor and shouldn't have to do it, suppposedly. and through her constant visits, she bonded with himari, whom she came to respect and like). through her guidance, yoruha flourished, and formed a relationship close to that of a friendship just before she was dropped into the arena. yoruha liked the older girl very much, who gave her even more determination to make it out of the arena alive.
'always carry more than one knife with you but wield only one during combat. that way, even if you're disarmed, you won't die as easily.'

park kyungri / stylist / 7/10 / compared to the rest of the stylists with their bizarre hair colours and accessories, kyungri is actually pretty normal with her blond waves and red lipstick, as well as her trademark pair of sunglasses whenever, wherever. she generally has a light hand in makeup and the most ridiculous she had gotten in the name of fashion was using neon colours for yoruha's dress, which was immediately rejected twice over by both yoruha and jihyun. otherwise, she mostly tries to start conversations with the girl to pique her interest and to make her feel more at ease, though while she appreciates the efforts, mostly tries to shut her down because she just felt sick and nervous at the prospect of needing to kill in the arena.
'i'm sure they will love you there, especially on the stage!'

lin shuangyue

Nicknames: warrior princess, yue-jie (sort of in a respectiful way, since she is referred to as older sister), yue yue, ice princess (shuang means hail)
Age/Birthdate:
20 / february 2
District 2
Faceclaim/Backup:
song qian (victoria) / wang feifei (fei)
Height/Weight: 170cm, 55kg

Personality
'it''s very exciting to watch your enemy writhe and twist beneath you when you slit their throat, isn't it?'
ruthless and sarcastic, she is one of the greatest warriors district 2 has to offer, and she is proud of the fact as well. shuangyue is trained in the art of torture as well as fighting since a young age, and she can switch from one to another in a blink of an eye. despite her apparent bloodlust, shuangyue is also extremely graceful and carries herself with elegance, making her an extremely formidable enemy and the very definition of 'she is beauty, she is grace, she will slice your ing face'.

'oh, and i suppose you know better then, hmm?'
shuangyue is raised in an affluent household, and she isn't afraid to show off her obviously better upbringing to others around her, taking pride in her education and her training. it wasn't as if there wasn't any proof behind that statement, however, because she really is one of the best. she is very proud of herself and constantly oozes confidence, letting others gawk at her while she stride down the runway with all the lights trained on her.

— 'i don't expect you to understand it, but suicide will always be my choice if the other is to be captured by enemies.'
growing up in two, shuagyue has had the concept of honour and pride hammered into her head ever since she was little. she was brought up to bring honour to her family, and to not lose her honour or dignity, because otherwise would mean death. she has upheld this code of conduct for as long as she had lived, and now she has the chance to prove herself.

— 'i'm not mad. I'm merely a very, very good actress.'
shuangyue has learnt to master the art of concealing her emotions since a young age, and doesn't let anyone know her true intentions, always playing along with the others and striking at the right moment. qian often uses her acting skills to let her blend into the crowds of other people, knowing their intentions and gaining their trust, while feeding them lies before killing them all. she is good, and she knows it.

— 'i won't leave you. ever. unless you lie to me.'
shuangyue values friendship. a lot. she is insanely loyal to those whom she decides to associates herself with, and would never turn on a comrade, unless they lie to her. lies are unacceptable, and she had made it clear with her always telling the truth, unless necessary, to protect those who are important to her, or to keep them out of harm's way.

— 'foolish girl. i salute you.'
shuangyue respects and knows strength when she sees it, and will not brag or be superior all the time. when others die a meaningful and a hero's death, she will give them a hero's farewell as well. however, if she sees someone flaunting themselves when they are clearly not of that level, she will put them down so fast and so brutally you won't even see tears, just shock.

Appearance — shuangyue is born to an affluent family and she dresses as such, the proof of her upbringing. she normally wears combat-ready but elegant clothes, like dresses that goes down to her knees and high boots, or jeans with a shirt and simple coat. shuangyue's clothes are often simple, yet practical, but the best part is it highlights her tall stature and slender build, as well as muscled limbs. she wears her shoulder-length hair down, and mininal makeup that highlights her features, and boots. always boots. she carries herself with utmost confidence, which is evident.

Background — shuangyue is born to an affluent family, with both her parents holding respectful positions in district 2. while they weren't victors, they give off the same vibe as them, being peacekeeper trainers who were known to bring up and train many head peacekeepers. being their daughter, shuangyue was held up to a lot of expectations since a young age, and failure was more or less condemned against in the family.

of course, coming from such a presitgious family, it was to no one's surprise that shuangyue was chosen for tribute training and quickly made her way up to the top tier, eventually being one of the best the district had to offer. by now, so much was riding on her shoulders and shuangyue was expected to be the best out of them all. but of course, she never showed any fear or pressure, only confidence.

very soon, she was eligible for the games, and nearly everyone expected her to volunteer, if she wasn't chosen first. unfortunately, an ankle injury had forced her to be unable to walk for a few months, and after breaking her arm after that, shuangyue wasn't expected to be in active combat for two years at least.

and it was during this period that she realised how the others, deemed as 'failures', are being treated. while her parents are undoubtly extremely disappointed in her, they allowed her to rest and heal properly, only sometimes berating her and nagging her about family honour and all that rubbish. however, because of her weaknesses, her fellow trainees jeered and made fun of her, and it was during this time she learnt how to truly and properly defend herself.

after she turned twenty, her arm finally healed, allowing her to be back on her feet and fighting again. this year, she was expected to volunteer again, but luckily she was reaped for the games, and thus began shuangyue's time as a tribute.

Trivia
- loves drinking tea and is an expert in tea leaves
- if she isn't sparring or training she's probably in the huge garden at the back of her house where there's all kinds of things like pavilions and ponds; she loves the quiet
- has a pet cat called feng (phoenix)
- doesn't really like wearing makeup because she claims it's a waste of time, but does put on her red lipstick every morning
- she loves her name. so does her parents.
- has a lot of jewellry from the guys who wanted to date her (who doesn't?) but her favourite is a necklace from a boy who was reaped two years ago and died in the arena; she vows to avenge him one day
- seems confident everywhere and anywhere, but blushes and gets flustered easily when someone tells her she's pretty in a sincere way
- likes being alone to sort out thoughts sometimes
- when she's injured, shuangyue likes to sing, as well as read tactics books to train her mind
- doesn't know it at first, but realises she's biual when she was thrown into the arena
- Fears: failure, water and thunder (the moon too, if she makes it out of the arena, because the day hualou died and the moment she recieved the news the moon was high up and ever since she viewed it as a bad omen)
- grinds her teeth when she's fustrated
- de-facto second-in-command of the careers pack

Relationships

Cheng hualou / former lover / 90/10 / before he was reaped and killed in the arena two years ago, hualou was shuangyue's former lover, and they'd sworn to get married despite shuangyue's parents' disapproval because hualou was from a poorer family. after he was killed, she was devastated and in shock for a long time. luckily, she was injured, so it gave her some time to bury her pain and nurse herself back to normal. nonetheless, after that, shuangyue was convinced she wouldn't fall in love anymore and shut herself off all men utlimately. (FC: yang yang)
'we'll be together, forever. I promise.'

lee chunhua, lin honglei / parents / 8/10 / shuangyue respects her parents and loves them, even though they are somewhat strict and stern in regards to her training and all that. however, they did love their daughter deeply, and didn't blame her for her injuries which left her unable to fight for a long time. when she was reaped, they were naturally very proud and couldn't be more happier.

lee chaerin / mentor / 9/10 / an extremely famous victor who won her games just a few years prior, chaerin was a highly skilled fighter who demands the same from her tributes. she knew shuangyue's family well, and was delighted to have the girl under her wing. chaerin was determined to make shuangyue win, because she knew she would; shuangyue was that great of an asset. chaerin had no problems whatsoever about shuangyue, and encourages her to do her best. and reach for higher, of course.
'don't let your guard down. but you'll be fine. you're the best of them all.'

meng jia / stylist / 3/10 / shuangyue wanted nothing to do with jia, and jia didn't really like the (supposedly) snobbish girl with her stuck-up attitude either. they didn't interact much, and wasn't really looking forward to each other's company, especially shuangyue, and after jia's first session with the girl. nonetheless, the two put their differences aside for shuangyue's interview dress after she saw what a mess jia made with her chariot outfit, so they both grudgingly compromised.
'honey, i don't care, but this is my job, so deal with it.'

feng / pet / 90/10 / shuangyue's pet cat who is considers herself royalty and doesn't give much of a about other people. she likes sleeping everywhere, anywhere, and is extremely annoyed if anyone touches her without permission, except for shuangyue. she likes pissing people off and going off to shuangyue so the person can get what they deserve (in her opinion). basically, she's extremely spoiled.
'meow!!!'

Love Story — so. being from four and two, the two naturally ended up in the careers pack with four other people. eventually, the field thinned, and after four's male tribute was killed and one's female tribute killed, and six people left in the arena, yoruha realised that she might be killed very soon, and broke away from the pack at the middle of night. after the careers realised she was gone and basically betrayed them, they were determined to kill her, but extremely slowly, and basically torturing her. shuangyue didn't say anything, but since she realised she was the only female tribute left in the pack, she might be in some kind of danger as well. Plus, she had taken a liking to the girl during training and in the arena, so there's that.

unfortunately, the two tributes besides the careers formed an alliance as well, and they easily took down the careers boys, except for distrct two (who was believed to be dead due to his injuries), leaving shuangyue wounded and in hiding. yoruha found her, but since she was reluctant to kill her, she just healed shuangyue and the two stuck together for a while, during which they learnt more about each other and was just generally interacting with each other. the more they are with each other, they realise they have a lot of common and aren't too afraid to open up to each other, and shuangyue realise maybe this girl could ease her heartbreak as well.

together, they survived for a few more days, and shuangyue made the invevitable decision of breaking the two up, but not before sharing a kiss.

Ending — haymitch's ending; they broke it up and one of them (yoruha maybe) gets killed because she couldn't really fend against the others by herself that well. shuangyue fights them off and kills the person who killed yoruha and promises a dying yoruha she will win the games for her while she stays with yoruha as she dies.

Username / Alias / Activity suhyo07 / suhyo / you know this :')
Password — I'm really hoping for shuangyue to live even though she's not even my main character xD but yes, if shuangyue dies then please let her die fighting and with her eyes open (which means she didn't die peacefully and vows to haunt the earth or something). however she dies let her maintain dignity and in a way befitting of her family honour pls (lmao)

Last comments — so yess here's my girls yoruha and shuangyueeeee and I know yoruha is supposed to be my main character but I can't help but love shuangyue better (oops) so please for god's sake go easy on her :') also I'm too lazy to go back and change it but yoruha is a miko fyi. also lengthy review plssssss
