seoyeon has light brown hair (similar to the one on the gif below), she has a round baby face that makes everyone want to pinch her cheeks all the time. she has a particular fashion style, even though she wants to be taken serious when she is cooking. outside of the college's uniform she is often seen wearing cute outfits : her closet is full of pastel soft colours.

  •  outgoing ;; seoyeon could be defined as a living energetic battery. she loves entertaining people by making the conversation, hosting parties, helping others with tasks or even just talking with strangers. she enjoys having good company and having fun around. she would easily make the first step to approach other people. (except when they intimidate her or when they doesn't look so okay to talk, as if she would bother them).
"welcome to the class of confectionary art!" seoyeon, as usual, stands in front of the door of the class to welcome and greet students entering the classroom. even though, some would find her 'too much of an annoyance' it was her way to loose the daily overwhelming pressure. 

   • observant ;; even though she is an active and cheerful person most of the time, there are moment when she likes observing her surroundings, which helps her noticing when someone isn't feeling really well or has difficulties, she's a good listener. 

  •  humble ;; she is really humble and down-to-earth. she never really liked to show-off or making herself more valuable than another because of her life. she definitely thinks life is a big mix between up and downs, adding luck and lots of good or bad coincidences to that.  "i just got really lucky and worked hard to attend yuhwa... but i'm sure we all can do it together!" she nods replying to one of her classmates who struggled between her personal life and studies. 

  • sensitive ;; "i-i'm sorry... i...." she lowers her head looking at the floor, biting her lower lip as she tries to hold back her tears as the teacher was commenting her dish. if there is one thing seoyeon is really uncomfortable with is criticism. she knows there is bad critics and good ones and unless they are justified she shouldn't listen to them. it's always easier for her to say rather than applying it for herself. she gets that good well-said criticism are good to improve and to learn from your mistakes but she never understood either why it's affecting her so much. there are times when it gets unbearable and she would start crying out of nowhere, unable to retain her tears. 

  • unfocused ;; she wants to try her best to improve and get better like everyone's else but because of her personality or lack of motivation maybe, she isn't pushing herself harder making others wonder and questioning themselves on her reason to attend yuhwa university. she has a low attention span which could lead to her being distract during classes because she doesn't take them seriously or wants to kind of runaway from the pressure and daily responsabilities.

"ah- i'm sorry! i got lost in my thoughts."
"you should be more serious... you're not going to pass the exams like this."
she sighs a bit, mumbling even though inside she knows he was right, but she couldn't help feeling ike her working's method wasn't efficient to her, making herself being either discouraged or bored. 

  • avoid conflict ;; her natural cheerful and easygoing personality makes her want to avoid any kind of conflict. first, because it's mentally tiring for her and second because she doesn't want to fight or argue with anyone. moreover, she doesn't like to hurt people's feelings so to avoid any misunderstanding she will immediately apologize to the person itself so she can get over it without stressing herself.

she lays down on her bed, sighing to herself as she wraps her arms around the pillow, pulling it closer to her chest trying to fall asleep as it was already past midnight.
those harsh and rude words are often told to seoyeon by her own conscience. she lacks of confidence and doesn't believe in her talent. she wants to keep believing and have this small light of hope that she is worth it and talented enough to stay at yuhwa but on the other hand, she can't stop discouraging herself when comparing to others students. down inside, at the bottom of her heart she knows she always wanted to join that university to cook, but she needs help and motivation.

 
  • emotional ;; an emotional cry-baby. another typical trait of kwon seoyeon. her heart is a full mix between happiness but also sadness, but not in a bad way. she easily tear-up, gets sad at emotional and inspirational speeches, songs, movies or books. she has lots of feelings and emotions to handle with, but people who have been friend with her are now used to it.
 

BACKGROUND 

ㅡ i had a pretty simple life, even younger ㅡ

kwon seoyeon was born in changwon, which is located in south-east of south korea. she comes from a nice and wealthy family as her father, kwon jihyuk, being a businessman and her mother, kwon minyoung, is an english teacher, they were able to spoil her enough for her to not miss anything during her childhood. she is an only child but she never really felt the need to have a younger sister or brother, her friends at school were enough for her to never feel alone.

ㅡ discovering the world was a fun part of my life  ㅡ 

during her summer holidays (mid july to mid august) she travelled around a lot with her mother, her father couldn't go with them due to his work. despite his absence, she would never complain as she knew it wasn't his fault. Her first trip abroad was to japan when she was 8 years old, it only takes 2 hours to go to japan so it wasn't really long for her. somehow, she still remembers that trip among all the other trips she ever made, maybe because it was the first time or maybe because she was really amazed by the landscape and the view when she landed in Osaka. all the huge and skyscraper buildings looking hundred taller than her, the colourful streets and shops surrounding her, the unstoppable and tempting odor of the food as she walks by. literally, everything and anything couldn't stop her from being astonished and fascinated by what she was seeing. despite all these colors, all the noises made by the cars and people along with information she had to cope with she felt she was in heaven.
 
she loved travelling around, discovering new countries, new cities but also new kind of cultures, she visited osaka, tokyo, singapore, thailand and usa (new york, california, texas). at 14 she went to france with her mother and hyunjae as they were really close, she found out a whole new world of pastries. new tastes she never knew it could exist, but she also got a new addiction : "choux à la crème". that soft and creamy vanilla taste melting inside with the texture of the "pâte à choux", the sweetness of the creme patissiere mixture makes it even more tender. her trip in france was really outstanding and as she was older she wanted to make sure to remember and savor every moment.

ㅡ i may have found a new hobby  ㅡ

when she came back to korea few days after, she felt like her view on cooking and food kind of changed. she has always been drawn to cooking since she was little; she watched cooking shows, recipes online or even watched her mom cooking kimchi / goguma mattang / pajeon or kimbap. she would analyze her and try to remember but she never got to practice until 16. later, she trained a lot and with the help of her cooking tutor she got her parents' permission to get into yuhwa institute. she is ready and passionated. (or at least, she thinks she is, who knows how she will react facing other students).
 

 

LIFESTYLE 

🍭 seoyeon courses are :
 • korean cuisine class (definitely) because she wants to learn more about traditional dishes from her country
 • the confectionery art because she is amazed by how beautiful and mesmerizing every product looks like as if they where "chef-d'oeuvre" made by hands
 • the spice research spices are super important when it comes to food. it could change the flavor from really good to inedible. seoyeon knows about it, and yet she isn't really understaning how it shouldd work, tha's why she took this class. 
 • hospitality industry, as being a future chef it's important to understand and remember how you are supposed to dress a table, welcoming clients or any sorts of basic knowledge regarding owning a restaurant.
  
🍭 soyeon still hesitates on joining a research group, but if she had to join one she will go for the korean cuisine research group. But, since she doesn't exactly know what should be her role or her duty inside, also being afraid on lacking and being a burden to them, she's still hasn't sent her application to join the group. by curiosity, she tries to sneak in and spy on them.

🍭 seoyeon often wakes up at 7:00am, probably one of the first to wake up in the dorm. she is an early bird, and enjoys taking this opportunity to fully live each moment of her life. she will happily prepare her breakfast made of apple juice, two waffles and one yogurt. she sleeps around 11pm, except when she has some works, practice or challenges she will stay up night and barely sleeps.

🍭 her typical day : getting up at 7:00 or 7:30am, giving herself a quick 10 minutes stretching time to wake up and stimulate her muscles before starting her day. she goes to the kitchen, as usual to prepare her breakfast and meals for the day (make simple bento but still cute). She gets to wear yuhwa's famous uniform as well which is one of her pride and achievement in her life before getting to class, she is often pretty early and in advance as she doesn't like to be late and want to welcome her classmates with a bright smile. She would often end her class around 6pm, if she doesn't have anything to do she will chill until 7:30pm before going back to the dorm and practice her skills and what she just learnt until 10:30-11pm.

🍭 when she has some free time, seoyeon likes to hang out around, chill at the cheonrisan park and from time to time she will also visit the éclatant library to read some cooking books about pastries and spices.

 

🍭 pretty cliché and suits her bubbly character, but she has a weakness for pastries ("péché mignon") specially those with cream and topping (e.g: cupcake, pie, macaroon, doughnuts, merveilleux, creamy cake). 

🍭 has difficulty to judge correctly others' meals with her sense impartially, she often gets mixed up with her own feelings, but is trying to believe more on her instinct when judging.

🍭is actually learning on worldwide's culture food (specially french ones for pastries), trying to be more open-minded and increase her culinary knowledge.

🍭 she loves going out with her friends and planning some events, meeting, parties with other people. she gets energized by spending good times with friends, she is also really easy to cheer up when being moody (back in high school hyunjae would treat her and she will get that smile and happy mood back).

🍭 her favorite french pastry is "choux à la crème" and she adores the japanese green tea and red beans mochi (would die for them).

🍭 she keeps whining to her classmates or blue sea students whenever she can't figure out how to cook a certain dish or doesn't understand well.

🍭 she is enjoying a lot her culinary classes, especially the korean cuisine courses and the confectionery art even if it's not her forte. she gives her best in both of these two classes as she doesn't want to lag behind.

🍭 even when she tries her own recipes, she would easily give up from trying due to her pressuring and being too harsh with herself for nothing. moreover, since she has a low attention span she is easily distracted from her work. it takes more time for her to actually finish and ace one recipe or dish.

 

🍭 her biggest fear is to lose someone who's precious to her or losing their trust. she has sometimes anxiety crisis when she thinks she did something wrong to her friends even when she's the one over-thinking or misunderstanding. 

🍭 she doesn't like highly salted or spicey food, it gives her stomachache.

🍭 her favorite drinks are banana milk and iced hibiscus green tea. she is a big fan of vienna hot chooclate too.  

🍭 her first successful dish with sweet potates was stir-frying them while adding some honey and olive oil. she added a little pinch of cinnamon at the end. she made this recipe after seeing it on a cooking tv show, she had to try few other times to make it perfectly without any mistakes.
