Crowdfunding
I announced the crowdfunding beta in my previous post (I didn't realize I've been working on this for so long) and it's surprisingly going strong. I didn't think there would be that many supporters for so few approved authors and the feature hasn't even been publicized yet but here we are. I'm going to use this blog post and subsequent blog pages to update currently approved crowdfund authors so subscribe to this post if you want updates on this topic. If you want to join the crowdfund, the program is currently still under beta and many of the features are still being tested by the currently approved authors so approvals may be slow. However, we're coming up to another round of author approvals and the crowdfund ability may open up for general release to include more authors soon.
As for the current updates for this month:
- Added new PayPal.Me option for crowdfunders. This should be useful for members who can't open business PayPal accounts and is the easiest option to get started. You can read the pros and cons and add this new option for yourself when you hit the "Add Member Tier" button in your crowdfund page.
- Speaking of crowdfund pages, well... you've got a crowdfund page now. It's a bit better than version 1 since it now includes the author feed and your current stories for easier access by your sponsors.
- There was also a bug in the crowdfund pages where you couldn't change the title and overview and that should now be fixed.
- Author feeds now also have the option for crowdfund-only posts accessible only to your sponsors.
That's it for now. My to-do list keeps getting longer so I'm going to have to prioritize a few things but if you notice something broken, let me know right away. Fixing broken things > making new things. Happy New Year!
