Crowdfunding

I announced the crowdfunding beta in my previous post (I didn't realize I've been working on this for so long) and it's surprisingly going strong. I didn't think there would be that many supporters for so few approved authors and the feature hasn't even been publicized yet but here we are. I'm going to use this blog post and subsequent blog pages to update currently approved crowdfund authors so subscribe to this post if you want updates on this topic. If you want to join the crowdfund, the program is currently still under beta and many of the features are still being tested by the currently approved authors so approvals may be slow. However, we're coming up to another round of author approvals and the crowdfund ability may open up for general release to include more authors soon.

As for the current updates for this month:

  • Added new PayPal.Me option for crowdfunders. This should be useful for members who can't open business PayPal accounts and is the easiest option to get started. You can read the pros and cons and add this new option for yourself when you hit the "Add Member Tier" button in your crowdfund page.
  • Speaking of crowdfund pages, well... you've got a crowdfund page now. It's a bit better than version 1 since it now includes the author feed and your current stories for easier access by your sponsors.
  • There was also a bug in the crowdfund pages where you couldn't change the title and overview and that should now be fixed.
  • Author feeds now also have the option for crowdfund-only posts accessible only to your sponsors.

That's it for now. My to-do list keeps getting longer so I'm going to have to prioritize a few things but if you notice something broken, let me know right away. Fixing broken things > making new things. Happy New Year!

Hi! I just found out about this one and I wonder about the program outside of Asianfanfics that you thought of opening before since the last time you published this blog (it has already been 2 years >.< ).
And I have interest in the crowdfunding, I've already apply for it but currently my application is still pending.
I read the Paypal Business Tutorial and I have made Paypal Business account (it's my first paypal account and no, I don't have Paypal Personal account)

I'm still confused about 'The Subscribe and Unsubscribe Button'. I had copied the resulting code as shown in the example of tutorial; another step after copy the code is I need to paste it into my 'Paypal Subscibe Button Code' text field. Yet, I don't know where 'Paypal Subscribe Button Code' text field is nor understand about it and it same goes for 'Paypal Button Unsubscribe Code' field.
Do I need to wait for my author crowdfunding program to be successful first? Or what should I do about paste the code as instructed from the tutorial?
It's my first time having paypal and no one in my family nor someone I know using paypal (especially paypal business account) so it really confused me.
Thank you for your time! :)

Hi, is there a way to manually remove someone from crowdfund?
I have a member who said she already unsubbed, and even on Paypal it shows that she cancelled her payments, but her name is still on the crowdfund sponsor list.

Hi I am very curious on the crowdfunding feature, does it apply to authors who need money for their studies and medical fees?

I only got to catch up on all sorts of current updates now and I am really happy that you thought of expanding to making a similar program for all sorts of artists outside of AFF. Since Patreon is more likely focused on having to give out extra content, something similar to ko-fi.com would do just as well.
