"Byuljin, what the hell are you doing?" Johyun calls out, startling Byuljin in the midst of his best prank yet.

"Uh, putting red dye in hyung's shampoo, duh."

Choi Byuljin, the Choi Byuljin of Big-Hit Entertainment, a renowned prankster that will most likely end up on your bad side at least once (maybe five times) while training there. Despite his rather ridiculous pranks including but not limited to, changing one's hair color, waxing eyebrows off and being forced to walk around with blue tinted skin, Byuljin's a pretty alright guy. When he's not in full prankster mood, most of the trainees enjoy being in his company as he's very easy to converse with and if a person needs a listening ear, Byul's there for ya. A big softie at heart, the guy has got a politeness about him that a person can't help but to take notice of.

But that only lasts for so long, after all because a rebel like Byuljin's got to get his fix somehow—he can't remain "innocent" all the time. And his "fix" well yes, you've guessed it are his crazy pranks. It's no wonder this guy seems to always be in trouble and yet Big-Hit has no plan in terminating his contract any time soon. 

"He's just childish," Trainee Go Minhyun remarks as he sends the latter a wide smile, "but at least he keeps it interesting around here. Practice is cool but it's all we do. We need some form of entertainment."

"He's a ladies man too." Johyun adds, "if Big-Hit accepted girls again, he'll have them all wrapped around his finger." 

OK, so maybe Byuljin could lay off the "flirting" a bit. It's like a second nature to him so much that unawarely, he flirts with the other trainees in a teasing manner (flirtatious nature but has no interest). He's also gotten a few love calls from a few already-debuted female idols (but who's telling? Not Byuljin). With so many ladies interested in this trainee and he hasn't even debuted yet, it's only natural that Byuljin's head has gotten blown up more than most would like. For Pete's sake, he isn't like Sehun or Myungsoo or even on par with other visuals but perhaps Byuljin just has a certain je n'ais se quoi others lack. Regardless, it surprises a lot of male trainees that Byuljin would be any woman's ideal type; he's just so damned disobedient and pretty cocky when the situation never actually calls for it. Is Choi Byuljin really what women like?

"I'm the Korean Will Smith," Byuljin confidently concludes, a bright simper plastered on his face. "I don't care what anyone else says, I might as well be called the Fresh Prince of Jeju."

background — 
Choi Byuljin was born to an ordinarily boring couple who met in college, was known as the campus's sweethearts, graduated, got married and had a baby. They basically did everything accordingly right and in order so it's no surprise that Byuljin was planned and not an accident like most kids. Regardless, the ordinarily boring couple (as Byuljin likes to refer to them as) did not anticipate their son to turn out to be one of the biggest headaches of their perfect lives! The Choi's started a college fund as soon as he was born but of course, that money will never be touched so long as Byuljin's dream is to be an idol. In truth, Byuljin never understood why his parents kept adding money to the fund when he's wanted to be an idol since he was seven after seeing Rain's debut on television. Perhaps they thought it was some silly kid dream and that Byuljin will change his mind once he's older but that dream never left no matter how much they prayed, lectured or cursed it away.

It's why Byuljin kind of ran away from home—he auditioned behind his parents' back and funny enough, they let him be but without any financial backing. They rarely communicate with him nowadays (or if any really) but hey, Byuljin kind of chuckles when he receives those generic Holiday chain messages wishing him a "Merry Christmas!!!" or "Happy Easter!!!" from 'em before forwarding them the same very one back within the same minute. 

trainee life at bighit — 
The week up to auditions, Byuljin practiced and practiced to perfect his audition performance. He was banking his entire life on this opportunity to finally kick-start his dream into action. He didn't ned his mother or father to approve because all he needed was himself and to believe. Who cares how many times his parents' doubted him? Hell, they didn't even know where his talent stemmed from as neither of them were musically incline. But still, he kept at practicing in the school's janitorial room because he couldn't let his parents' know exactly what he was up to; they thought he was staying after school to finally study and improve his grades.

After auditioning behind their backs and definitely without a care of the consequences, Byuljin waited around for a response for a couple of months. Perhaps he wasn't enough for a super cool company like Big Hit? Perhaps he was too good for a scandalous company who was still reaping the affects of GLAM? Many different emotions came to him as he awaited anxiously for a response to his audition. Would he make it? Was it worth suffering the repercussions of going against his parents' wishes?

Luckily, all of those negative thoughts left him as soon as he received a call to fill out some paper work. In February of 2014, Valentine's Day to be exact (for America, at least), Byuljin signed his life away to the world of entertainment, broke the very bad news (good to him) to his estranged parents and packed his life up only to end up in a very overcrowded dorm with a lot of other boys sharing the same dream. With so many different personalities sharing such close quarters, there was bound to be some drama among the boys and all their raging hormones. From purposefully ripped magazines, borrowed clothes that wasn't really bothered but taken without permission to stolen objects, Byuljin also fell victim to many of these ridiculous but real scenarios.

Thus the birth of prankster Choi Byuljin happened as a response to all the drama that occurred in the dorms. Unfortunately, this lifestyle is now a part of him that Byuljin just has a hard time letting go of. With that being said, Byuljin is always in trouble with the staff and it never fails. Leave it to the targeted trainee to go off crying and snitching. Can anyone take a joke? 

Yet, despite being in trouble 25/8 (because Monday night practices feels like 48 hours altogether), Byuljin is really diligent when it comes to working hard and training. Obviously, he didn't pass on Big-Hit's offer because it's an easy ticket to stardom. It requires patience, persistence, agility and wanting and needing to debut and Byuljin can easily tick all those boxes.

My feelings are the most sincere. 

opinion on the bighit boys — 
"They're uptight man and someone's always running off and snitching to a trainer," Byuljin huffs as he brushes back his fringe in frustration. "But I can't see myself debuting without any of them either. We're a team and I got love for each and everyone of them in my own special way."

For the most part, Byuljin loves being at Big-hit and his likes the Big-Hit boys even more. Besides, they're the same ones who have witnessed him at his lowest and watched him climb from the very bottom to where they are today. If it wasn't for some of them providing their support when he needed, Byuljin would have returned to a degrading home with his tail tucked between his legs.

opinion on the freelancers — 
"I think it's cool they're coming from nowhere or without a big company's backing. That takes guts." Byuljin murmurs impressively as his index finger and thumb his chin thoughtfully. "I couldn't imagine being that bold. I respect it."

There isn't really much to comment on according to Byuljin. He doesn't know these guys from a can of paint really and if they're not some attractive female, why bother remembering them? Regardless, he's excited to compete against them.

"hey, please introduce yourself."  

"Hello, I'm Big-Hit's one and only Fresh Prince of Jeju—and now I guess Seoul—Choi Byuljin. Don't worry ladies and gents, I'll be around for quite a while."

"what made you want to become an idol and why did you sign under bighit?"  

"Have you seen Rain sunbae perform?" Byuljin asks obviously stargazed as his eyes widen. "He's the whole reason and then some on why I want to be an idol! I wanted to be just like him growing up!" He pauses thoughtfully before continuing, "and why did I sign under Big-Hit? Because the company is just my style."
 

"do you think that you'd have the same chances as with bighit if you were signed under another company?"  

"Truthfully, Big-hit pretty much saved me from living under my parents' scrutinizing and judgmental ways. I think I could get some chances but not as many as Bighit has provided. Besides, not every company can handle the Star of the show."

"what would you say is your biggest strength and your biggest weakness?"  

"There is no doubt that I'm good at rapping. I can boast that confidently without an issue however," Byuljin straightens his posture, inhales dramatically and stares into the camera lens. "I will probably make your ears bleed with my singing but hey, at least I'll look good while causing you all to go deaf."
 

"how far would you go to succeed in the show?"  

"I'll put red, blue or green dye in any mortal enemy's shampoo bottle. I've got pranks for days, I'll do anything to succeed."
 

"what do you have that makes you a standout from all the other bighit trainees?"  

"I've already said this guys. Pranks for days." Byuljin states bluntly as he stares into the camera for dramatic effect. "OK, OK and my awesome rapping skills. Yeah, yeah happy?"
 

"that's it so far. do you want to add anything else?"  

"Look forward to the star and as always, please support and take of me!"

Strength —  
Rapping, rapping and more rapping. There may be some Big-Hit trainees who are better but none of them have the appeal that Byuljin has. Ask the fangirls.

Weaknesses —  
Singing (there's absolutely no proof on the net of Sanggyun singing, lmao and Hwiyoung's OK). Don't ask him to serenade you ladies, you're better off listening to pigs oinking and an assortment of other barn animals.
