Getting Paid to Write Fics

My application to AFF's new crowdfunding program was accepted, and I'm setting up my account today. Yay! But I want to put it to you, my wonderful readers, to help me decide how best to handle the tiers and whatnot.

I honestly don't think there's any point to my setting it up like a Patreon, where you pay a certain amount each month to get access to content. I think that puts too much pressure on me to produce a certain amount of writing each month. My writers' block has been rough enough without adding extra pressure. :p

So what does that leave?

Well, some of you already leave me "tips" in the form of karma points, so I think an option for cash tips is worth having. A dollar here and there adds up. ^^ And I've had a LOT of people ask if I'd be willing to sell pdfs of my fics, so maybe I can offer those too?

What else can you all think of? Would you be interested in special sponsor-only oneshots? Or commissioned fics for a flat fee? I guess I'm just having a hard time imagining what people would consider worth paying for.

And what are your thoughts about this whole crowdfunding program anyway? I like it because it's nice to get even a tiny bit of money for all the time I spend writing. Fireflies alone is a huge time-sink. But when I think of how many silent readers I have who never leave a comment or even an upvote, it's impossible to imagine them paying even a dollar.

Anyway, just thinking out loud here. Would love to hear from you all, especially my regular readers, about what you think.

Congrats that's happy news :') but i have deferent thoughts in this .. yes I'm wailing to pay you for your amazing writing <3 but sadly not everyone have visacard or something international paying (don't know about the others but at least my country only offers local payment cards and to have the visa one they have to pay monthly for it) I love you .. i wish i could help you <3 if there's any other way I'm totally doing it

Well, I don't have any specifics in mind but I can understand how does it feel to be rewarded even with kind words from your readers. As 83lineforever said I also think of you as one out of three best writers here and I don't have any problem to pay if it means I get to read your fics but on the other hand it’s a question of being fair to those who don't access to any kind of MasterCards or stuff like that to pay not to mention those who are in no position to pay. It might be hard to believe for you but tbh I have many friends around Asia and I can guarantee you they love your stories ( some of those silent readers you mentioned ) but if these stories get pay-locked I’m not sure how they would feel about that. Disappointment, anger or the sense of inferiority. But I think if you make it a choice like whoever wants can pay or not, it will be like amazingly ideal for all, like creating a utopia for your readers. All in all, I hope whatever happens at the end, won't change the friendly atmosphere of our little yunjae world where materialistic parameters can't affect our love for freedom of thoughts, words, and passion :)
You are my number one favorite writer and I completely agree with some kind of payments for these amazing ideas you put into your magical words for us to read. I hope after considering every aspects of this situation, the best would happen for all of us :* :* :*

Oohh. It seems like a good idea Mira! Personally, I wouldn't mind a sponsor-only oneshot or short fics (fics with 5 chapters at most I think). Though I hope it wouldn't be too pricey. Hahaha. Of course, a set price depending on the number of chapters would be good. Like, for example a dollar for a oneshot or a dollar per chapter. So if it's a doubleshot it'll be 2 dollars, a tripleshot will be 3 dollars and so on. That's just an example.
For commissioned fics, that would be great too! The reader can provide the plot and other artists they want included. Or they can choose from your own list of unwritten prompts. A flat right for that is nice, but wouldn't it better to have a set of rates? A rate for a oneshot would be different for a chaptered fic. Chaptered fics would vary as well, depending on how long it will be. A set rates depending on the number of chapters. I'd suggest you also include the number of words per chapter in the rates as well. That's just a suggestion though. Hahaha. Hope you don't mind that.
But I think there's nothing wrong with writers getting some monetary compensation for their works. Especially writers of your caliber. As I've said before, you're one my top favorite fanfic writers. To be honest, I'm already considering a commissioned fic as of writing this comment. Hahaha. But we'll see!

I consider you one of the top three writers on AFF.

I would pay a monthly fee to support you as a writer. I don't really have any specifics in mind in terms of rewards or anything like that.
