Pissed Off to Hell and Back

So, a little more than a week ago, Torres, my first dog who is now 8 years old got sent to the vet because his leg had a nasty abcess which surprisingly my grandpa never noticed. The skin above the abcess already turned black and started to break open, oozing bloody fluids and other kinds of nasty stuff.

At first, his bloodwork came back with early stage kidney and liver failure, most likely due to the infection. Eventually, the kidney and liver chemical levels went back to normal, so it's totally alright now. However, we were just told that the abcess (now a gaping wound with dead tissue) was actually a pressure ulcer/bedsore. He was lying on the ground too much so that caused it. He was also now diagnosed to have hip dysplasia due to him being slightly obese from the lack of exercise which put pressure on his hip joints so much that it is now deformed. Not sure if surgery could be done, but we'll leave it first since the main concern is about his wound healing.

In case you were wondering why the lack of exercise and lying on the floor so much, my grandpa refuses to take him out for walks now. We left Torres with our grandparents as a companion since 8 years ago and they loved him so so much. But after my grandma passed away last year, went down the gutter. After gramps moved in with my uncle with the dogs, he just left them in the backyard. A very small and cramped space, enough for Darky (a small sized dog) to run and jump, but not enough for a big dog like Torres, who is a Golden Retriever to get enough exercise. My gramps claimed it was too 'troublesome' to move the dog from the backyard to the front because they will have to pass through the living room and dirty it. *eyeroll* My uncle is a very nice person, it wouldn't kill to ask anything from him. But, my grandpa will never ask, he would always ask us to ask for him on his behalf. *2nd eyeroll*

Torres is now determined to be permanently disabled because of his hips and his other leg (the non-wounded one) is super swollen like a pig's leg due to lying too much also. If this goes on, his other leg is going to get pressure ulcer too. My grandpa, who kept calling me these few days, told us to euthanize him (to put him down) because he's too much of a trouble to take care because of his disability now. I told him, it was his fault for not taking the dog out for walks which caused obesity and bedsore. He refused to acknowledge it, but instead he said:

'Why did you buy the dog 8 years ago then? Just kill him. He's too much of a trouble.'

Oh wow, he decided to say this AFTER 8 YEARS. Really, after my grandma passed, he became even more sharp with his words. I don't even know how many people he had offended saying things like,

*About someone else's furniture*
'Why are you wasting money on such furniture?'
Mind you, we were at my aunt's house and she was the one who chose the couch because she loved it. You have no idea how offended she was.

*Talking about me wanting to be a doctor*
'Aiya, she will definitely fail. She's just not smart enough.'

But for real though, KILLING A DOG JUST BECAUSE HE CAN'T REALLY WALK NOW?

My dad got so pissed (he was the one who bought him cuz he loved him since the day we met him at the pet store). He just instructed us to take the dog back home with us and told my grandpa to never EVER call and ask about Torres anymore since he was the one who abandoned him after so many years of companionship.

Torres still didn't want to eat anything. The vet just said, he only ate a boiled chicken and that's it. He didn't want any canned food or kibbles. So, we bought chicken fillet, chicken s and eggs for him. We are going to cook them and send it to the vet tomorrow for him. We are going to take him back after we've cleaned up our house to let him sleep in.

I really am not ashamed to say I did threaten my gramps that I may have the license to murder him after he's disabled. My sociopathic/psychopathic side is talking right now. I also cut off all contact with him and I will never want to be present at his wake or funeral in the future.

He spends so much time on his phone, spamming all of us with his useless hoax articles instead of checking on the dog until the leg is now necrotized and all this happened. Not to mention refusing to take care of a 'disabled' animal and demanded him to be euthanized because he's useless.

We had plans for Torres though. After his wound healed, we can focus on his hip problems and make a wheelchair for him. The wheels can support his hips so it wouldn't put too much pressure on the already screwed up joints and cause him pain.
