PICTURE PERFECT?
growing up in an awkward spot as an eurasian child in the streets of charlottenburg, thea löwe-lee learned to brave all social odds on her own. with the dark history of germany and several encounters with xenophobic people creeping about her daily life, it was tough at first. only because of her biracial identity, many discourage her. what made her become stronger was the fact that she witnessed several of her classmates who were people of color receive worst treatment than her. it made her become more understanding of her situation. east asians have it more easier than south asians and she has to learn to live with that. she found out early on in her childhood that it is a wonderful thing to be living such a whirlwind lifestyle frorm both her korean and german roots. she believed with all her heart that she was as german as the locals. she was a local, after all, who was born and raised in germany.
her life's turning point began in high school, when her social life started to become more defined yet also more outgoing. she was surrounded by non-asian germans and she had to live with that; she befriends them and they befriend her. she learned to go by the situation and through that, hung out with the non-asians a lot. it was strangely rare to find other east asians in her high school, thus she sort of became the "cool asian" who hung out with non-asians out of circumstances. despite that, she did not dare to define herself by that title. she had tried her best to integrate herself into the environment and as a result, she was not a shy, awkward asian. she was confident and in her own energy, she shined. she had always managed to surround herself with positivity, with the help of her friends and also the help of the internet.
her interest in the world and how it moves came from her interest in the history of germany itself. due to the internet, she became exposed to many worlwide topics and whenever she had time, she would watch people comment such topics on the internet. in high school, she was a part of the debate team and paired with her level of public speaking skills, her confident attitude took her places. winning debate contests with her team and earning medals at speech contests, it was surprising how much time she can still give in her day to hang out with her friends, be it a major event or just a nearby cafe to talk.
she was suddenly curious to see the world outside the likes of berlin, though she and her family travel to neighboring countries on holidays. she wanted to go far, experience what the locals do and learn to live like them. that was when she signed up for a student exchange program. after months of endless selections, she indeed got accepted to be of several students from germany to embark to a foreign country and live there for one school year. her departure to argentina resulted in her graduating high school a year after her friends did but she did not care because only a selected few get to experience what she did.
after completing the one school year she missed, she went to study social sciences for three years in humboldt-universität zu berlin. after three years of studies, she graduated with a mono bachelor's degree. she was not set on finding a job immediately and took time. with the help of parents, she had opportunities to work under several of her parents' colleagues who offered to personally teach her how they work in their fields. she even got a month or two to herself to travel around europe alone, from france to italy and especially to the ever-so close netherlands and denmark. after all that, she was able to make a decision on what her future career would be and what sort of life she wanted to build for herself. she wants to be someone who has a corporate job and has a professional reputation to herself. she saw how her mother leads her own life, inspiring her to do the same. she wants to be a woman who can take care of herself and brave all odds, but with her biracial identity and appearance, she has no confidence to venture into the german work force just yet. she decided to go to the other side of the globe, enroll in graduate school in the school her father graduated from. if she was lucky, she could land a job as a foreign expat in a multi national company. if she wasn't lucky, she had to a little brave and return to germany and work there.

ROLE : as the dorm's big boss and its official ring leader, she makes sure everyone and everything is in order and calculates all the bills. she doesn't contribute much financially, but makes it up by being in charge of buying the groceries and sorting out the pantry. she can also help with your mid-life crisis and sprinkle in some wisdom for those in need. several tenants have also made her in charge of their morning call, which has proved to be effective.
