How do I learn another language?

Okay so I know this is going to sound stupid but I don't know how to study. I've never actually studied before lol oops. I always managed to pass my tests in school (I'm not at all very smart, just good at barely passing tests) just knowing the bare minimum.

I've always wanted to learn new languages but I don't know how to go about doing it. I have a bunch of resources, and I've been off-and-on "learning", but I'm stuck. Also because of the fact that I have pretty severe depression and anxiety it's become really difficult for me to concentrate on things. Like it is literally physically painful for me to think.

(I'm getting help for my mental health I swear. I just started seeing a doctor recently.)

If anybody has any advice I would greatly appreciate it ♡

Like my father would always say, “Stay in a country for over a moth, soon you’ll know how to speak their language.”
Though, I’m pretty sure not everyone has THAT much money to move to another country and stay there for a while before moving back. So, yey. This solution is out of the question. (^^”)

As a Malaysian Chinese, I’m currently learning Hokkien since aside from my family, most of my friends can also speak the language already, and I just feel so left out. I started with simple terms, like ‘I’, ‘you’, ‘we’, ‘they’ or counting the numbers from 1-10. After that, I just keep asking what is a certain term in the language, like what ‘friend’ is in Hokkien and such.
In summary, start with the basic, before moving on to vocabularies. I can’t really be a judge of this though, since my Hokkien is still Beginner’s level, though I can understand the language and speak it to a certain extent already. Either way, you can try this out or not, this method has only been proven to be a bit useful.

I hope that this unhelpful guide could help you out somehow. (^^)

Hey :D Can I know what language you wanna learn?
I'm learning Korean and Japanese and I also have mental issues. But learning a language is one the only things that keeps me in check and I don't focus on the mental illness.

hmm I'm not one for advice bc I don't study much either, but whenever I'm doing work or cramming, I give myself incentives?
I speak two languages and I'm studying Spanish rn (just started last year) and whenever I need to cram (bc I don't pay attention in the class itself orz) I tell myself stuff like "memorzie ten vocab words and then you can watch one short video on YouTube" (bc I'm obsessed with procrastinating through YouTube) so I look forward towards learning? But basically incentives is sort of my motivation
haha hope this helps ;;;
