Dear 방탄소년단, an open letter (but not really)

Dear 방탄소년단 ,

I am writing this open letter while listening to Spring Day, the song that gives me healing, the song that made me cry whenever I hear the melody and reading the lyrics. I thought that while listening to the song, it could give me that feeling of spring as I write my open letter to the group who inspires me. First of all, Happy 5th anniversary, my boys, you came along way to receive all the recognition and love with hard work, perseverance, genuine brotherhood and humble hearts. Since pre-debut, I started to keep my attention to all of you as my younger sister recommended you all to me. I never thought that was the beginning of a wonderful journey as a BTS fan, an ARMY. In all honesty, I lack as a fan, I don’t own your albums, I haven’t seen you guys in a concert (last year when you did WINGS tour in my home country I was in abroad being stress ou) that made me felt like I lack something as a fan but hopefully, I can see you all guys in the upcoming LOVE YOURSELF tour, that’s why I am trying my best to see you. Being a fan of BTS, it feels family like. You talk to us like friends and family, you gave us so much more than we thought, you give us joy and happiness that we sometimes we don’t deserve; that’s why I thought it’s time that BTS should also feel that joy and happiness that you are giving to us.

The massive recognition and love, it’s a good thing but I also thought that it gives you all pressure to think what to do next after that just like what Yoongi shared and I hope you all know that you deserve this because you all worked hard for it. If people will ask me what’s the difference of me being a fan of BTS as I considered myself as a multifandom, I would say that BTS contribute a lot in my life; I don’t stan them obsessively but more like I stan them that I want to make myself better. I am struggling with anxiety, they came into my life when I need to ease my worries and ease the anxieties that I have, they make things better for me. They reminded me that they also feel what I feel but they are trying to overcome it and keep themselves better, to do better despite the worries. Because of BTS I communicate with my friends again that I haven’t seen for like 3 years. They give me that confidence. I have never been a fan of a group that gives me so much inspiration and do things better.

Whenever I read a member’s interview/articles, the way they speak their words about the worries of life and dreams and listening to the music as I look for the translation, sometimes I cry, I thought I relate to them, it’s genuine, they know, they understand. What differs them among groups out there? They are like us; they show that they also feel the same way as we do through their music, through their words, through their art. They give back to fans like they are their friends, family, a team hence to our motto TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.

Thank you Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook. Thank you, BTS for being part of my life. Thank you, BTS for being my joy. Thank you for inspiring and make things better for me & to do better. Thank you for your hard worked, for giving us love that sometimes we don’t deserve. Thank you for being yourselves. Thank you for your music and your words. Thank you for debuting. Thank you for existing.

The galaxy is vast but the stars are already aligned for the seven boys of BANGTAN. Keep on shining my loves.

Love, A
