I finally slept at night for the first time in over five weeks.

As some of you know, I have had wicked bad insomnia for over five weeks. I haven't gotten more than an hour of sleep at night most nights and sometimes not more than a half an hour. I went into three job interviews on less than a half an hour of sleep, which was fun.

I had tried everything under the sun: melatonin, herbal tea with honey, meditation videos, self hypnosis, ASMR videos, ocean wave videos, reading books, turning the TV off and getting off my phone an hour before I slept, hot salt soaks, etc. Nothing.

I went to a rheumatologist appointment after getting less than half an hour of sleep and going to an interview with three hiring managers asking me questions all at the same time. So, to say I was exhausted is an understatement. She asked me what was wrong and I told her about my insomnia and she prescribed me Ambien.

I tried Ambien at the highest dosage, it ididn't help. Then she prescribed Ambien CR at the highest dosage and it didn't help.

At that point, I went to my psychiatrist. He told me Ambien and Ambien CR can cause mania in patients with bipolar, which I have. So, no wonder it didn't ing work.

He prescribed me with a sedative, Trazadone. He told me it was non-habit forming and that he wanted me to take it for a month and that it would take that long for my sleeping schedule to get back to normal. Because I have been staying up all night and sleeping all day which has really thrown me out of whack.

So,, last night, I slept from 2:30 am to 4 am, 4:30 am to 5:30 am, 7:15 am to 7:45 am and then later this morning from 10:30 am to 12 pm.

Obviously, this isn't my goal. I would like to sleep for four to six continuous hours. I need to stop sleeping during the day. I got very little sleep, as always, Thursday night so then I slept all day yesterday. If I stop sleeping during the day, I really think that plus the Trazodone would allow me to get four to six hours of sleep at night.

I'm just so ing glad that I slept. Baby steps, you know? I might have a new job starting soon, if I get it, so this needs to stop.

Me after actually getting some ing sleep --
