Ships

OK, I need to take something off my chest, because although it may be normal for the most, many people still think differently and I wanted to make clear a couple of things. I hope to not offend anyone while doing it.

- Anyone can ship whoever she/he wants and doesn't have to give any explanation for that.

- Everyone should respect each other's ship, without being childish by saying "mine is real", "yours is fake", etc. because it's totally pointless.

- Nobody knows a person uality or if two people are truly in love. Only them or people close to them may know such personal things.

- If you stop following your idol/actor/who else because he came out as gay or married a woman and broke your heart and expectations for him to be gay (????), it only means you were following him/her because of your ship (that's a bit creepy) and not because you value him/her as a person (with dreams, passions, his own decisions to take, a life, and also a UALITY which may be different from the one you labeled him with)

- Shipping itself is not wrong or bad, it's a way to create stories, art, to make your artistry go free about something you love, but remember that if the ship is about REAL people, you can't force your personal idea/wish.

- If you ship two people because you love the idea of them being gay because "OMG " (same as lesbian- Yuri) you're izing them.  There is nothing wrong with shipping same gender couples. Just don't ize it. Examples? "I really love my gay ship, but homouality in real life... eww" (supporting LGBT in a fantasy, and then rejecting them in real life... I don't know how to call this. But someone like this may be very very confused), "X is the woman and Y is the man!" (don't turn it into a pattern. There is no "woman" in a gay relationship and no "man" in a lesbian one. In a gay couple, someone may look more feminine and another more masculine, but they're STILL BOTH MEN); "They look hot together" (Uhm... what?); "They're both straight but gay for each other" (I read this A LOT! And every time I either laugh or sigh. This is so wrong on many levels. It means: 1. you're not supporting LGBT rights, because hey 'they're straight'; 2. You don't know what being gay is; 3. What you say it's called being either gay, biual, panual or maybe gay-curious, but in no way being straight.

- Please, don't glorify abuse. Don't make it look romantic. Don't make a character suffer every type of abuse and call it love. Don't turn it into a final "sorry" and a happy ending only because your ship must end together. Although this is only fiction, romanticizing abusive relationships is not nice even then. Am I saying to not portray abusive relationships? Quite the contrary! Just show them as they are and don't display them as romantic.

- Mpreg. As I tried to explain there is no woman in a gay relationship. Don't turn the weakest/more feminine one (if any) into one and get magically pregnant. Create a trans character and make him deliver a baby =) This would be totally ok. But changing reality because you MUST create a heteronormative setting/family still shows that you're not fully accepting LGBT people. Gosh, make them adopt. Show the hardships they go through as a gay/lesbian couple adopting a child and the society's prejudices. There's a lot to write about it. But really, mpreg seems to me only a way to create a hetero-family with a "dad/female who delivered the child", a "dad/male" and a child.

This whole post...

Shipping can be fun (like not to sound dramatic but I have ships that I would die for XD). But some fans become so obsessed with it that it becomes dangerous, and they're the worst.

But this post speaks a lot of truth

"because he came out as gay or married a woman and broke your heart and expectations for him to be gay (????)"
This doesn't make any sense. If he "came out" as gay, he wouldn't marry a woman, because then public would know he's gay. Just ... doesn't make sense. >.<' It may just be language.

"supporting LGBT in a fantasy, and then rejecting them in real life"
- this is called homophobia. Not confusion, just homophobia.

"X is the woman and Y is the man!"
- Some gay couples actually DO have someone who identifies as "the woman" and "the man" whereas others may not. Individuality plays a huge part here.

""They look hot together""
I - an ace bi-romantic woman - don't see what's wrong with this? Hey, they do look hot together. What's the problem?

""They're both straight but gay for each other""
This is often used as a joke, just like "I'm gay for XXX". I don't necessarily see how that's disrespecting LGBT so please do enlighten me on that one. Being straight is not disrespectful to the LGBT-community, neither is thinking someone else is straight. Just to be clear on that.

Also - about mpreg. That's the one point I'd like to really discuss. ; _ ;
I don't see what's wrong with mpreg. Sure, it's a fantasy world and it's never gonna happen anyway, but why is it so condemned? Do I just want a "het"-family? No. If I wanted that, the way the child is born doesn't matter because I could create a family in which one is "the mom", one is "the dad" any day no matter how their child is born. Come on, heteronormative settings aren't awful. I used to think so but now I sometimes write het couples because, hey, they're cute too.
If you want to write a critical story of society, do that. If you just want to write a cute family story, then why is it condemned to write mpreg? I seriously do not understand that. Sure, it's fantasy, sure, it doesn't happen in real life. Sure, some people take it too far in the heteronormative genre - but what does that have to do with the trope?
