Fic Meme 2018~ (Aka a reflection on last year. Stolen from At1stsight.)

 

Total stories published:--Right now, 8 fics. But I also have a fic rec list and a collection of short stories. Oh, and I have a completed fic that I've drafted to possibly rework the second part of it.

 

Total Word Count:--195k (or 225k after including my short stories).

 

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?--Um, I think I wrote more or less what I expected. I just kinda planned-not-really-planned to continue writing for my ongoing fic (Bus Rides & Sleepy Misses), finish the prequel for my completed one, and write some more short stories. Only thing is, I kinda predicted writing more short stories than I ended up doing haha.

 

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?--Um, I was about to say none but then...looking back...I don't think I really expected to write a short Suchen fic. But now, I wanna write more haha. I like their interactions together ^^.

New genre:--Hm, none tbh. Pretty much writing the same genres as usual atm.

 

What's your own favorite story of the year?--Uhh, I think I'm gonna have to go with my short story Nightlight.

 

Did you take any writing risks this year?--Ya mean like going outta my comfort zone? Not really...though I've been writing longer chapters than before so I guess there's that xD. This year I plan on writing some different au's or something though.

 

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?--Oh, I kinda already answered that for the last q. But another goal would be to reach that 150+ subscriber mark for my ongoing fic and reach the 50 chapter mark (for the first time ever) this year.

My best story of this year: Hmm best story? Haha uhh...Bus Rides & Sleepy Misses.

 

My most popular story of this year:--Don't bet on it, a short Xiuhan fic. It got recommended on Luminfics (?!) and so yeah aha (thanks again to the person who recommended it--you know who you are ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)).

 

The story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:--Lol, uh by views? If by views then I guess maybe Always Game. A 1.9k Kaisoo fic that funnily enough took me months to complete. I literally only had the first scene written and left it in the void of wips for how long, man. Like some ideas just take a while to fully write out for some reason. Or take a while to feel right.

 

The most fun story to write:--I think Stars Aligned. Was pretty fun haha.

 

The story with the single iest moment:--Lol, uh technically a chapter from BR&SM. It's not even an actual scene--just makin' out, but, that counts, right xD? (And yes, whenever I type out the initials for this fic it reminds me of xD. Was not intentional when I came up with this title though.)

 

The most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:--Um, none tbh. Though there is a short fic that had a way angstier ending that I scrapped at the end ;D.

 

The story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:--Um none tbh. Seeing EXO moments is what shifts my perceptions like, "Oh, so-and-so doesn't like this and that? I see..." Bam, possible idea for a new chapter haha.

The hardest story to write:--I think...writing for my ongoing fic can be kinda hard sometimes when say I've no drive to write but I planned on uploading a chapter for whatever week. Or when I have so many ideas and drive but no free time. I still have fun with it (otherwise I'd have stopped writing more for it) but yeah. Though, once I actually just sit myself down during my days off work, I get in that zone and whoosh--I've written a new chapter and then I'm like man, I should've written sooner. Then, the cycle restarts aha.

 

The biggest disappointment:--Having had to change my uploading times for my ongoing fic. I dunno--I still kinda wish I could go back to writing and uploading every two weeks but, really that just started stressing me out too much. But, I'm so happy though that my readers are so chill and patient :)!

 

The biggest surprise:--Getting a few of my short stories recommended on Tumblr rec blogs and getting Strange Entity recommended on here like wtf? xD I never expected it in a million years but you bet your I was jumping up and down like I won an award ahah. That and getting my fic Perfectly Cheesy recommended on KFR! Do you know how many Kaisoo fics I've read and loved after searching through that blog?

 

The most unintentionally telling story:--Hmm...dunno. Probably BR&SM.

Favorite 5 Lines from Anywhere:--Oh my gosh, my fav lines from anywhere? Holy moly lol. Uh...(still gonna be without context though):
 

⦁    "Jongin looks at him with teary eyes and thinks that if they make it through this, Sehun's advancing to best friend status, no, platonic soulmate status 'cause--what the ."

⦁    "But well, it's not exactly a bad future. Just...different."

⦁    "It's not like he got home later that night and stared at himself in the mirror--wondering if he really did look like an egg on stilts with caterpillars for eyebrows."

⦁    "Kyungsoo blushes at the memory while Jongdae practically spits out his drink."
