Her Marathon, My Game

Sand in the hourglass and I are in a marathon
She never stops so I have to carry on
My breaths are slave to the game
Reined by the hours numberless
But my dreams unaccounted for,
Like the waves in the sea are slumber-less
The forsaken sirens of my broken dreams,
Lull me to death at night;
Whilst the endless home of the mermen
Whispers awake the wishes inside.
Listen... that azure bounty calls out me.
"Sail away, break free." Says he.
I hoist my flag, I have my crew,
I'm ready to leave at the high of tide.
But as the sand slips by,
my broken dreams and time–
They pull me back before I set my sail high.
So I jump into the blue of my dreams
and I'll swim till I can this time.
I'll probably lose the marathon
but at the least the game will be mine.
