This is a wake up call!
The news came too sudden, and to us it seems so out of the blue. That's because these idols are that great at putting up a facade. Perhaps along the singing and dancing, they were also trained to keep smiling despite the hardships they go through. Through today's news, it's a wake up call that idols are human too. This does not apply to idols, but to everyone. Everyone has struggles. Everyone is fighting their inner demon 24/7. Everyone puts up a brave front, keep a cheerful smile, and no one knows the pain and scars they are hiding beneath it. No matter how cheerful they seem, how much they laugh, how much they joke around, people are great actors by nature. I think it is one of the qualities that qualifies us as human beings.
The things you say and do not say can affect people. We need to train ourselves more to be more lavish with words, to show more encouragement and support in any way possible. What admist the hundred negative comments, there could've been one positive comment that would stop people from making certain decisions, but because people chose to keep their silence, the negative remarks won in the end? What if the silence is the driving force that became the final push? In that sense, wouldn't we be just as guilty as those who made hateful remarks? I don't know, I am just thinking out loud. But as an idol, I suppose that negative comments slices through someone's mental strength. The absence of positivity is the medicine that could've healed, but never arrived.
I'm gonna be like the bad guy here when I say this, but I feel this is the true wake up call to us all: DO NOT TAKE THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE NOW FOR GRANTED. You never realize what you have until it's gone. It saddens me that after Jonghyun is gone, people wanna pay tribute to him, they are saying nice things to him, wanna cover his songs... Why not do it before he left? Of course, we didn't know. But now, he won't be there to see or hear it. I am not blaming people, because I am just as guilty of this. It's just sad how the world starts taking action only when it's too late.
Therefore, instead of trying to hold on to what has already left, we need to hold on to those who stayed. In terms of friendship, appreciate your friends. Listen to them. Be there for them. Don't ever allow them to feel they are fighting their battles alone. Don't ever let them feel that nobody cares. Because their life is precious. We need to start taking actions now before it's too late. But if they are the ones who wants to walk away, at least we know we have done our part. Care for them as much as you care for someone who isn't there to receive your care anymore! Care about your friends before they might end up following in his footstep. It's sad to see how some people care more about idols rather than their "friends." Unless they were never considered friends to begin with.. Perhaps...
In terms of idols, maybe keep supporting them, keep giving encouraging words. There is no such things as "ah, there are so many other people doing it, so what difference does it make if I do it?" I wouldn't know honestly. But I do know that whenever I get comments on my stories, even if it is the same thing as another user has repeated, it means the world to me. It can brighten up my solemn days. In that sense, wouldn't idols also gain strength from fans' loving words? I hope they do. And no matter what, please abstain from hate. If you don't like a group, keep it to yourself. No need to fuel the stress level to someone else's mentality. It won't make you look cool, or smart, or superior. It's just plain stupid and ignorant.
Thank you if you ended up reading this long post. I just truly pray that we can all become someone's shoulder to lean on. That we can appreciate what and whom we have before its gone. Regret always comes too late, so make sure to live a life with no regrets.
