Disappointed

I feel disappointed sometimes when I encounter stories here in aff and I find out that they are adaptations and they didn't acknowledge the original author. Don't get me wrong. I like reading adaptations even if I've read the original versions I find it fun reimagining the characters as my OTPs. It's just that if you are posting adaptations I think it's only right that you say so outright from the onset. A lot of uploaders do that. Why can't others do that as well?

It's uncomfortable reading the comments section being peppered with praises for the uploader (with the readers calling them author/authornim) about how great the story and the plot is when you know that the plot and the story is not really the uploader's original creation. I don't want to be the one to point out the damning truth on their comments section and be the one to start an outcry or negative feedback on these uploaders so I'm just venting out here.

What these uploaders are doing is basically lying by omission and in plainspeak it's really basically PLAGIARISM. As an author myself, even if I'm just an amateur one, it doesn't sit well with me. I just hope they just edit their posts and give credit to whom it is due.

Aaaah yes. I agree one hundred percent. Others play it off as original work sometimes. It was one of the reasons why I am wary of newer writers, which is kind of sad because a lot of good work is out there. Acknowledging the author isn't really much work but some barely do.
