appearance

Siha's face and body are a scultpure sculpted to perfection over many years. Her eyes were first, enlarging and double eyelids; her nose was second, moulded into the perfect dainty size; her s were last, just months before her re-debut in 365 Fresh, a company suggested boost, as her original pair had been a small B cup at most, if one was very generous. Extreme diets do not lend themselves well to curves, silicone has no such qualms..

Now she's perfect, with her smokey double eyelids, flirty lips, and flirtier curves. Shiha looks at you, the picture of confidence, and invites you to look at her. A body like that wants to be seen, and it's all the same to Shiha. She's been ualized for years, what's one more pair of eyes?

style

Shiha doesn't really have a style herself, she's been wearing what the stylists give her since she was 14. Given free rain she'd probably just wear something simple, a t-shirt and jeans, but she hasn't had free reign in a long time. She prefers it this way, with someone telling her what to wear, it means she doesn't have to think of it herself.

personality traits Charismatic, arrogant, dependent, indecisive, dorky, intelligent, adventurous

personality

— Shiha has all but grown up with cameras trained on her. She knows cameras. They are familiar, they are secure, she knows what to do around them. She was groomed to be an idol, groomed to do whatever it was that they wanted her to do, to be whoever it was they wanted her to be, and she was excellent at it. Shiha thrived in he spotlight because she became whoever it was the company or the cameras or the netizens wanted her to be. Something of a mirror to whoever she's talking to, Shiha reflects what you see. You see her as an empty-headed idol girl? That's all she'll be to you. You see her as a cute girl? She will give you gwiyomi. You think she's just an arrogant diva? What you see is what you get. There is very little neutrality when one first meets Shiha, there is always the coloring of lenses, being it rose or something more sinister. Shiha is the talk of the town, and you have heard something about her some time or another, and it colors the perception. Shiha simply appears in whatever color you expect of her.

Meanwhile she's also very charismatic, the camera doesn't just love her because she's a mirror, that would be boring. No, Shiha loves the spotlight, she lives for it. When she entered a room you notice, she makes you notice. She was made for this. Or so she thinks, anyway. She does love the attention and, well, everyone seems to think she deserves it, so why wouldn't she deserve it? Sure, she feels bad for the others in 365 who don't get their own introductory subunit or the attention she's getting, but when Lee Yuri tells her she deserves it, well, who's little old Bae Shiha to argue?

Shiha is very dependent on others to sometimes do menial things anyone should know how to do. She's always been either an actual child, a trainee, or a debuted idol. People have always taken care of her, from parents to leaders to managers. People have always made decisions for her, have done domestic tasks for her, have ferried her from schedule to schedule without any actual imput from her. Shiha wouldn't know how to lead her own life and make her own decisions if her life depended on her. Someone asks her what she wants to eat and she looks to her manager to answer for it (and he would answer a salad at best, water at worst).

So here she is, doing whatever anyone needs her to be doing, being what everyone needs her to be. So EM wants to push her image to a more scandalous and y one? Okay then that's what she'll be (and honestly, she kind of likes it a lot more than her more fake innocent image. At least this scandalous playful image is more honest). The more that's what people see her as, the more it's what she ecomes. From the moment she entered EM the transformation started, the expectations found her, and so it began. She walks into a room, whips off her sunglasses and shakes out her hair, looks everyone in the eyes and says hello. Shiha has entered and all must know it. Hold her flower, she is needed in the spotlight. The company needs her, the fans need her, the world needs her.

All of that is but a shallow veneer, a mask without much substance. The substance she seems to have is only the substance you imagine her having. The real Siyeon has been slipping away further and further under that mask over the years, until there wasn't much left of her. The real Siyeon is a bit of a dork, honestly. She loves puns and other terrible jokes, has an embarrassing giglesnort, and sometiems looks at the stars and wonders about the meaning of life. She's much more intelligent than anyone gives her credit for (nobody is really looking, or interested in finding that part of her), and is rather philosophically minded. Siyeon loves thinking about things, considering their meaning and place in the universe, and is as likely to finish a enlightened monologue with a profound revelation as with a pun.

The real Siyeon is adveturous. She craves new experiences, she craves freeing herself of the cluthces of the restrictions of Shiha and the cameras and the netizens who are just waiting for her to slip up so they can hate her instead of adore her. To just be a girl who climbs down from the balcony to sneak off, giggling like a schoolgirl, to excape for a night of fun. To stand on the edge of the roof and count the stars up above and wonder what would happen if she just took a jump. To blow a raspberry at her manager and just run away through the streets on bare feet.

But making a distinction of Shiha versus Siyeon is far too easy. Too simple. Laws of identity and layers of existence are far too complex to make any grand and clean statements of where one ends and the other begins. Siyeon smiles into the camera, sitting pretty at a variety show and talking about her diet because that is all the substance they want her to have while Shiha jumps into the hotel's pool and holds her breath under water and feels the chlorine-filled water envelop her into its own, marvelling at the temporary solitude of it all.

But if she is both at all times, is she really either of them at all?

if she knows.

TL;DR: A woman in the middle of an exisential crisis. The lack of a childhood and the constant pressure for confirmity to the spotlight have left her someone who has lost sight of who she truly is underneath the layers of idol and star. As the mask starts to chafe, and she gets a little push to to find herself, more and more the mask will crack and the image won't fit as the real her tries to claws its way back into existence. Who even knows what will be left by then?

background

A nasty divorce left Siyeon raised by her mother and her grandmother. Her mother was a secretary with big dreams, and her grandmother still living from her late grandfather's retirement funds. It wasn't the cushiest life, but they got by. Shiha was always a pretty child, even before her plastic surgeries, and a particularly bad month and a newspaper advert saw her start her career in front of various cameras from a very young age. When she was 6, her mother took her to an audition for a local commercial, and Shiha was the one chosen to shoot it. Afteer that she did some modelling for kid's clothes and commercials here and there, and she loved it.

At 10 she started auditioning at various entertainment companies, after all, what was one camera or another? She ended up at some company called New Star that didn't have any acts yet. There were only three other trainees and they were immediately groomed for debut. Then, in early 2010 it was finally time for them to debut as a 4-member grouped by the name of 2X, so called for representing the girls of the time. 2X's repertoire over the years included both girlish and more mature songs, but always in a coat of a wholesome and public-friendly image, never pushing the envelope farther than was comfortable, and they achieved considerable success, keeping in mind that they came from a no-name company.

Debuting at the age of 14 wasn't easy on Siyeon, now calling herself Shiha. She had been training since she was 12 years old, and had foregone high school in order to focus on her career. She was an obedient girl, aways doing exactly what her company wanted and following the image she was supposed to have. As the youngest of the group, she had a more pure image, and often got to wear more girlish costumes while the others wore more tight-fitting ones, but it was but an illusion as she popped out her chest and shook her hips in many a dance, and her charisma and potential were already noted by the company. Shiha just went along with it, both because she didn't quite understand what they were doing at the time and because she was a dutiful little idol.

Shiha ended up becoming the most popular member of the group, mostly due to the combination of her more wholesome and dorky image off-stage, and her charisma on-stage. It's that perfect combination Korea like sos much, scandalous when oggled, but a proper girl when the spotlights turn off. After all, being a is a bad, but it doesn't count when the bodyrolls are on stage. The idol life suit Shiha like a glove, and for years her career was everything she focused on. She became whoever the company needed her to be, and she was damned good at it. With charisma for days, pretty decent dancing skills, and rap skill that was passable for an idol at the time, combined with her public friendly off-stage charm, Shiha was primed to become the next it-girl.

By all acounts 2X was on the rise, but all of that was cut short when, in 2013, the CEO was accused of embezzlement, took the money that was left, and the whole thing devolved into court case after court case. Shiha had to attend some of those, and spent the rest of the time at home. The company was no more, their contracts dissolved, and in the span of a few extremely stressful months Shiha found everything she'd built up crash down around her.

She spent a few months at home, not really sure what to do now. She'd never even started high school to focus on her career, and for those years that she'd been debuted her entire life had revolved around her career. She didn't even know where to start being a regular human being again. So why bother? She was good at being an idol! She could command a room to attention just by entering! She still had fans waitinf ro her next move! Really, her options were obvious. Her mom and grandmother tried o convince her to stay home longer, to really think about what she wanted for her future, but Shiha really couldn't think of anything else that she could do.

So Shiha contacted entertainment companies, dangling the bait in front of them. Re-debut Shiha of 2X fame and get a guaranteed fandom and an idol who, so far, had managed to remain scandal-free and was good at what she did. EM bit. They offered her an artist contract right off the bat, with a promise of a debut, and return to the industry was heavily publicized. She was painted as a victim of her former company, and really there was truth in that, and she was here to try again. Nevermind that her former bandmates had tried as well and hadn't been quite so succesful.

Shiha is back, and Shiha is here to stay.

relationships

— Bae Minju | 47 | hardworking, supportive, ambitious, stubborn, temperamental | Shiha never saw as much of her mom as she would have liked growing up, her mother was always hard at work to put food on the table, but Shiha always appreciated that. Minju's ambitious and hardworking nature inspires Shiha to give her all in her career and not give up, for better or for worse. It got her to want to start working from a very young age, and to do everything she could to do well, but that also lead to the way she is now. Either way, Shiha misses her mother a lot and one of the most difficult parts of being an idol is how little she can see or speak to her family.

— Bae Youngja | 85 | naggy, strict, old-fashioned, overdramatic, proud, caring in her own way | Grandmother | Youngja is far from the nurturing grandmother stereotype. She's proud, standing ramrod straight, as tall as her tiny frame allows her too, and keeping her chin raised high. She's old-fashioned and believed fiercely in saving face and keeping decorum at all times, and has always been strict in her rules and bossy in her ideals. Shiha used to be scared of her, until she learned that under all of that ice lies a soft-hearted woman who would fight for her family. Youngja can be a little dramatic, especially when she feels she's been ignored for too long ("How could you do this to me? You haven't called in weeks!"), and a lot of the times Shiha feels she tolerates her grandmother more than actually talks to her, but  Shiha loves her, though distance has definitely made the heart grow fonder.

— Kim Iseul | 26 | diplomatic, ambitious, focused, envious, defensive | Previous leader and visual of 2X | Iseul is the one who took the difference in popularity the hardest. She had trained the longest, and fancied herself something of a charismatic ambassador, someone worthy of being the next it-girl, but instead the little maknae became it instead. She tried to remain a good leader, but she'd never been very good at being the bigger person and their relationship soured over time. And then the dissolving of the contracts happened, and Iseul immediately started looking for another company. She and Younha ended up forming a duo together, debuting mere months after 2X died, but their re-debut was met with lukewarm interest. Now she's standing by once more as Shiha gets ready to make a splash.

— Ji Youngha | 25 | caring, sweet, resilient, obedient, awkward, conflict-averse | Previous main vocalist of 2X| Younha was the diplomat of the four, the one who kept them together, and the one who kept Iseul from killing Shiha. She's sweet but not very charismatic, even if she has a killer voice. She's currently trying to make it in a duo with Iseul, but that's not going very well. Younha doesn't mind much, like Shiha she's mostly doing this because she doesn't know what else to do, and as long as she's trying she's happy.

Shiha loves Younha as the little island of calm normalcy, the one who treats her like Siyeon, the normal girl who happens to be an idol and more succesful than all of them.

— Eugene Nam | 21 | insecure, dreamer, quiet, negative, disillusioned | Previous main dancer of 2X | Eugene never had what it took to be an idol. Her visuals were constantly criticized, she never got much screen time, and the netizen comments destroyed her. She felt like an afterthought to the group a lot of the time. She was honestly relieved when they disbanded. She got out, went back to live with her parents, and is studying psychology.

Shiha was always kind of mildly freaked out by Eugene, she was always so fragile and negative and there was something kind of wrong with her.

— Lim Hankyung | 19 | co-worker and friend one moment, annoyance the other |  It's.... complicated. A lot of the time Hankyung treats her like this empty-headed pair of , and Shiha reflects what you see. If all you want to see is someone who flaunts her at any opportunity with no other substance, then fine, that's who she'll be to you. If he wants her to be his one , a she will be. But at the same time he's a , and a funny , and when he's not being an he can be great to be around, and she does love putting him in his place. But she loves drinking some vodka and doing something stupid with him just as much. Then there's the , aided by the fact that many of their scenes in the MV are risque as an understatement. So they're complicated, but maybe they can help each other.

trivia

— She has no idea how to do anything domestic. She does not know how a washing machine works, she does not know how you're supposed to vacuum clean, and please do not let her near a clothes iron.

It hasn't escaped her that when she was little they wanted her to be y and treat her like she's older, and now that she is older, they want her to act younger.

— Get her drunk and cracks in the mirror start to form, and the layers underneath peek out. What that means in practice, is puns. Lots of puns.

She likes to cook. She cannot cook. do not let her cook.

She is not a creative individual at all. She's all logic or philosophy, or charismatic smiles at the camera. She's straight forward where it counts. She both admires and dismisses those who are involved in the creative process of music. After all, what really matters is the charismatic face that puts it on the stage.

position (backup position) main rapper, lead dancer, fotg (visual, lead dancer, sub vocalist)

stage name Just Shiha, it is what she was known as before, so it behooves EM to keep it.

stage presence When Shiha is on stage she draws the eyes to her like moths to a flame, and you better believe she is hot. She exudes confidenc and power and charisma, she was born to do this. She can shake her , pop her chest, and flip her hair and it won't even seem exploitative. Shiha owns every single bit of her uality. When she needs to tone it down she tones it down, but when she can let it loose oh boy does she let it loose. You'll forget that her voice is the tone of a chipmunk, you won't care that her rap is mediocre at best, all you'll care about is that Shiha has raised her mic to and you're standing to attention.

Off-stage she has a much more approachable image. A big part of this is thanks to the fact that she has been in the spotlight since she was 14, and the public has never known her to be anythig but wholesome (if what that slight layer of ing that comes with any underage idol). While her on-stage image has definitely pushed to the mature since she joined EM, she still has that approachable, sweet off-stage image. Not too much substance, since when have variety shows wanted their female idols to have substance, but wholesome and giggly and polite and ever ready to cater to whatever her hosts need her to be.

extra skills Shiha can act a bit. Enough to play the lead in evocative music videos like 365 Fresh, not enough to carry any kind of lead role in an actual show. Still, it serves her well enough.

predebut activities

Four years as a full-fledged debuted idol. The climb to fame wasn't instantaneous, it was an uphill battle against other groups from bigger companies, but Shiha's success pulled the group along with her. They had concepts ranging from innocent (think Don't Forget Me) to slightly ier but still youthful ones (think Bad Girl Good Girl).  She did some variety shows, mostly on her own, and was becoming quite the celebrity before her company fell apart. I'll give you free reign of how much or how little you want her to have done.

She joined EM late 2014, three months after her contract was New Star was desolved. After that she got a few modelling gigs to keep her face somewhat circulating.

365 So Fresh.

scandals

— Aside from the whole scandal her company had, which she only benefited from by becoming a wounded party, I image 365 Fresh to be quite the scandalous song, considering there is murder, weed consumption, and lingerie-clad kissing in there. Quite the turn-around for what was previously a clean teen star.

— More scandals might follow, depending on what EM has in store for her, and how you develop her existential crisis and the growing out thereof.

evaluation answer in your character's pov. The evaluation is being recorded by the company, and the clips might be broadcasted at any given point.

Please state your name, age, and how long you have been a trainee under Em entertainment.

—  "Hello," Shiha bows politely to the camera and shows off her winning smile. The smile that has landed her endorsements. "I'm Bae Shiha, formerly of 2X, currently of Anthem, and very soon of 365. I'm 20 years old and have trained under EM for a few months now. Ah, it's so weird doing this again!"

you are finally debuting in an idol group. How do you feel about that?

She laughs, a clear, melodious sound. "Finally is an odd way of phrasing. I've only been out of the business for about a year now, but I already miss it. I'm so glad to be back, I'm sure my fans have missed me as well, and oh how I have missed you! Soon we will see each other again, and it will be a new Shiha you have not seen before!"

why did you decide to become an idol? and why em entertainment?

— "As some of you already know, I used to do commercials and photoshoots for online stores." she laughs again. "Looking back at those days is so embarrassing! But it did give me a dream, and that dream was to stand on stage. Thankfully EM was gracious enough to let me continue that dream with them."

what do you think about your labelmates, mbx?

"They are absolutely delightful. I've crossed paths with them before a few times backstage when I was still a part of 2X, and they are all wonderful performers. I really like their music and I'm thrilled to be in the same company they are now." She remembered the time when they had netered 2X's waiting room to hand them their very first CD, at debut. They'd been rookies then, in awe of their debut and meeting their sunbaes. She'd never thought she'd be in a scandalous music video with two of them! The world worked in mysterious ways. "Maestro and Jonggyu were very nice to work with as well, they both work very hard and are very professional." Well, Jonggyu was very professional. And sweet. Hankyung was another matter altogether.

the 6 in 365 stands for skills. where do you think you're lacking, and what do you think your strengths are?

'I have a lot of experience now, after 4 years as an idol, but there is still very much to learn and many areas that I am lacking. I am confident that my new group will have many things to teach me."

the 5 in 365 stands for 5 girls. how do you feel about your groupmates?

"They are all wonderful and I can't wait for my fans to meet them! I hope you will be their fans as well, they are working so hard ot put together the very best debut and performance for all of you. Please look forward to our debut!"

the 3 in 365 stands for making the crowd fall in love with you. do you think 365 will be able to do that?

"Of course! The other members are all filled to the brim with talent that they can't wait to show all of you!"

anything else you'd like to add? if not, thank you for your interview!

"Please take care of us and thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do this, again. I was so afraid that my days on the stage were over when 2X was disbanded, but I am being given another chance and I am determiend not to waste it. 365 fighting!"

love story

Shiha had seen MBX around backstage before, though had never interracted much with them aside from polite words and the exchange of albums. She properly met Yikwang through Hankyung and Jonggyu, who she'd befriended through her subunit activities. She likes most of the group, they're an eccentric bunch but they're fun to be around, though most of them adhere to a mixture of her stage image and the more arrogant and entitled company image, give or take.

Upon first meeting she thought Yikwang was a little boring. He was sweet, but with personalities like Hankyung, Tim, and Sunhee to captivate her, he didn't stand out much. You know what they say about nice guys.

But first impressions can be wrong, as can second and third impressions and the lack thereof. When Shiha actually stopped to talk to him, really talk to him, he proved that she might have judged too quickly. It didn't happen all at once, a few words here and there, a conversation while waiting for Hankyung to drag her away to more interesting places, being stuck together backstage, or a meeting in the company hallways before a meeting. Here and there she ran into him, and talked to him, and dismissed him, until she didn't.

The special thing about Yikwang is that he sees through her simply by not adhering to her image. He's the only person who sees her in a neutral light, who doesn't let himself be painted by her image or by what people say about her (and people are always saying things about her). He is the kind of person who lets people make their own impression, and it's a breath of fresh air. At first Shiha didn't realize why she always felt better when she talke to him, why it made her feel calm. It's that lack of expectations and that total normalcy, normalcy that is so very rare in her life.

Yikwang is a rock. He's a solid constant, and Shiha loves him for it. Even when other, flashier things call for her attention, when she's drawn away by other, wilder people, she always comes back to him. He brings out the best in her.

current status

— I will leave their development up to you entirely.

last words

— I was going to use Seokmin (haha) at first, but I don't much fancy going up against Jey, so Yikwang it is.
