Daragon@MOTTEinManila (reply to a comment)

(Note: This reply got too long and I'm adding new thoughts so I decided to convert it into a new post)

@kpopsocks Thanks for your comments. I'm really glad you did coz I rarely get feedbacks--and that long! Anyway, I'm more of a 2NE1 fan than GD/BigBang. And obviously a Daragon fan too. So part of me will view or try to explain things from a shipper's angle. That's the reason why I indicate in Daragon mode or something. But I do notice things that just run contrary to that. My thoughts in the previous post were based on what I've observed from the initial vids (which are mostly short clips and unclear), pix and comments. Based on experience, I know that my interpretations will change as I see and read more of the incoming posts/uploads. Ok, let’s start with my factual errors that you pointed out: Yeah, my bad. It’s GD’s solo concert so the songs should have been from his solo albums. And pardon my poor eyesight. Didn’t notice the flower until I read the comments in IG.

Since there has been no definite confirmation by them or YG, I can accept that it was just fan service. They’re both long-time friends who may not be as close as before 2NE1 debuted. I recall him commenting on her IG post of their darkened pic during Chrome Hearts party in 2013 that he missed their closeness. Yes, I’ve read comments questioning their friendship although some of it could’ve been triggered by applers’ zealousness.

I’ve also read anti’s pointing out his calling her ahjumma during IG live. They must have forgotten she’s only 4 years older than him, and that he teases her a lot or quite often. I’ve also seen an anti’s post showing the part in “Who You” when GD pointed to the trapdoor while singing “I hate you” and facing front while singing “I love you”. Understandably, he can’t direct the latter to her. But I wonder why he was “throwing hate” at the door/her. Do you have any explanation for that?

Although the lack of the look of love in her eyes (or is it my poor eyesight again?) is the main reason why I can’t fully embrace Daragon’s real, I can see GD at times trying to control his “giddiness” or his smile. When he turned away from the audience just before she said “I miss you” and he was smiling, I think it was a genuine reaction instead of scripted. But why hide himself? The usual suspect would be he’s got feelings for her, right? It can’t be because he’s feeling shy towards a star or something coz he’s clearly the bigger star despite her being more popular locally (Philippines). And they’re friends. Btw, is it obvious she’s going to say “I miss you” next? Or was it scripted? Or did her pause gave it away?

When I saw in IG the second pic in Dara’s IG multi-post juxtaposed with a pic of him kneeling during encore while she was bent down to listen to him, it occurred to me that their backstage poses were probably what was supposed to happen before “Untitled”. Maybe instead of GD going to the audience—has he given flowers to the audience in previous concerts?—he will give the flower to Dara. If that is so, it must have been a last-minute plan coz the male dancers apparently failed to do their tasks. I still don’t get why Dara decided to end it. Either she didn’t agree, was also at a loss, was getting embarrassed by the “Daragon” chant (she probably knows about fans expecting a proposal or revelation), or was trying to save the situation. And what did she mean by “somebody has won so it’s time to go home”? Did they agree to post those backstage poses to show what the failed plan was? Yes, just fan service. But why was that B&W pic of him staring/glaring at the cam not included in Dara’s post? I couldn’t help thinking it’s Daragon-related (that is, warning PO not to let his hopes up too much keke).

Yes, it can be disappointing and irritating to VIPs/GD fans that Dara/Daragon was given too much time/attention in his concert. Ok, I’m sorry if I’ll seem delusional with my next statements but just bear with me. Ji said he wants to show himself to his fans thru this album/tour. And one aspect of KJ is his loneliness despite the fame and success. I feel like from the start of MOTTE, he’s been trying to let fans see/understand his need not just to have someone special but also for fans to accept that so there’s no need to hide (the relationship and not necessarily the details) and that both of them won’t get hurt by fans/public. He could be in a relationship now or not. It could be with Dara or not. If it’s her, then that probably explains why there’s too much of her during the concert. If it’s somebody else, then Dara’s participation, I guess, is supposed to help fans accept Ji has his own life to live; or maybe, it’s simply because she and Daragon are rather popular in the Philippines and he/YG is granting her wish to be onstage again.

Btw, I read posts/comments that YG staff were looking for them after the concert coz they didn’t return to the hotel but supposedly went to another. Shippers are excited about this but I worry that if this gets picked up by Korean media/netizens, there’ll be hell to pay.
