35 Questions for Writers (taken from herdustisverypretty)

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

This is a very early allusion to my ELF days; I'm quite known amongst my friends and family for loving anything minty, and there used to be, at least, jokes with the maknae Kyuhyun's name to where you attached anything to the front of the first syllable of his name - i.e. GameKyu, ClarinetKyu, EvilKyu, etc. So I did the same with 'minty' and have been that since 2012 or so?

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

God bless, it's still Therapy. Which has been on hiatus since 2013.

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

Hongbin is my ult and Voodoo Doll is one of my most fave eras from VIXX.

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

I don't really think I have one at the moment; I've made quite a few friends, yes, but most of them don't get on anymore.

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Not on here; there are a couple on LiveJournal, but I can't place my finger on any particular titles that captured me so heavily that I return to read them again.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

Fifteen, hahaha. Surprised it's even that many, to be honest.

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

Lord if I know. My ideas go all over the AU realm, there isn't one that appears more than others.

8. How many friends do you have?

420 - BLAZE IT.

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Eh, there probably is. Probably really graphic things or odd pairings/ideas are what I delay from posting in the end.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

Writing, of course, but that comes with time. And updating, grief. I have such terrible amounts of me time due to work and school that I never get to write, therefore, I never get to update.

11. How many subscribers do you have?

Unique: 1314, Total: 1974

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

On AFF - 43. On other sites - i.e. Tumblr, Wattpad, etc. probably only numbering less than five, if even that.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

I use both Google Docs and Word 2016 split, but more so with Docs because my old laptop used to crash and leave me with ruined progress. In total, Docs probably has around 40 started fics with an 8 page document flooded with ideas and titles, while Word probably only has about 10.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Gotta write it down. Even if I have just one sentence for it, on a piece of paper, in my phone, or in a Google Doc it goes.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Yes, but it never got past the foreword thanks to the main author.

16. How did you discover AFF?

I found it on accident trying to find more information about Big Bang way back in the dinosaur age of 2011.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

I know I cracked the top 500 during 2012/2013 in the ELF fandom. I could post oneshots and get 150 subs (which was worth a lot more back then). Now? I'm satisfied with my 50 subs on a oneshot - especially considering how small the Starlight community is here. But then again, popularity doesn't matter. I write to write. If people enjoy it, that's awesome.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

Nah.

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

emii_vipelf, I think was her username. She either doesn't log in very often now, or has stopped using that profile (I know she had to get a new username bc she lost her previous information). Her stories were the best I've ever read on here, and it really inspired me to become a better writer bc I loved her writing and wanted to write so eloquently, just like her, haha.

20. How many karma points do you have?

4475.

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

Don't force ideas out of your brain; I tried to do that and your ideas become mundane, dull, and meaningless. It's best to write things as they come, because you'll find with time, like I did, if you let things come naturally, then LOTS of ideas begin to flood all the time. Inspiration pops up from every tiny thing you see.

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Most of the time I set up a SUPER vague outline for the story, for example, I figure out the character dynamics, what happens with them, and how that shapes the story. I write it out from there and add things as I see fit.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

I might've? Honestly, I can't remember. I've never been reviewed, so that's definitely not an option. Comments are possible, but I always keep in mind that again, I'm writing for myself first and foremost, and if I'm satisfied with it, it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Additionally, I also have to remember that this is one person's opinion, who I'll likely never collide with again, so moving on is the best course of action.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)

Romance, oh my god. Sappiness is just not my strongsuit.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Quite a few; Golden Boy, Electricity Bill, Quickfire, Arial, 10 Pt., and others that haven't been published like Paisley, 21, and To the Beauty of the Ordinary. You can expect to see those not currently published by the end of the year.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

Alllllll the time.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Nah.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Oh hell yes. My writing was really shallow and meaningless when I first started; I don't think I really understood the concept of flushing your emotions into writing, I more wrote to appeal to an audience which, in my opinion, is not writing.

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

Shadowed is one of my favorites. I liked the premise and how it ended up evolving. I also, oddly enough, liked the very short one |Id| that I posted not long ago. I feel as though I wrote it well for how much content there was.

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

Literally everything before Afternoon Drive. I mean, Winter Angel can be an exception, it's mediocre. As are Sinning in the Church of Shisus, Hyukkie, You're Not Doing It Right, and maybe one other, but those are still getting really close to being terrible.

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

I'll probably be writing poetry to relieve my stresses, as I do often. I'll probably dwindle down again and simply write for my own satisfaction and for friends upon request.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

114.

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Describing a scene. I can always write very easily in third person omniscient POV, so describing the scene and the characters feelings without their dialogue is the easiest for me.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Staying on topic, honestly. Sometimes it's hard to go on a tangent and forget the original storyline of the text. Sometimes it's hard to incorporate everything you want and then veer off to add something different because it fits better, but collides with the logic of the storyline. It's really hard to fully balance a story well and keep it straight on the path to its ending.

35. Why do you write?

It gives me a great creative outlet; to let all the ideas that explode in my head run free and take on their own persona in real life action. I also think it's just fun sometimes to imagine the impossible, and most of what I write seems to be that path, haha. It's a good way to relieve stress and have fun without causing much, if any, harm.

Hey~ While reading through this, I realized that some of my answers would turn out the exact same way as yours :) I nevertheless also did this questionnaire and found out a few new things like which story had the most subscribers ^^' I can't believe that changed since the last time I checked...
Thank you for sharing this questionnaire :*
