A question for shop owners

I noticed that all shops require the requesters to be subscribed to the shop. I think that it's pretty fair (especially when the shop doesn't charge you anything) and quite convenient for the owners since they'd not need to notify their requesters personally about the completed request. Some requesters have their profile on lock y'know. What I don't understand is why the shop owners demand for the requesters to be subscribed permanently, forever and ever. I mean, why? The requesters have no business left with the shop after their requests are done and if they do pay for the service, then what's the point of getting them eternally subscribed? The new story updates alert is annoying, I tell you, when it comes from the shop we no longer have anything to do with. Like, are we supposed to keep up with the other requests or what?

So shop owners, what are the reasons? Is it because you want the shop to build up an image of being a good shop? Or do you just like looking at the high number of subscribers? Or is it simply because you see everyone doing it and you just don't want to break the chain? Also, have you ever though of the inconvenience it might cause the former-requesters?

As a shop owner, I've never asked requesters to subscribe permanently and I don't quite understand why shop owners do that either. I mainly have them subscribe because I can't keep up with everyone's requests and I don't have time to individually notify people especially if they have their profiles locked. The same sentiments go with the mandatory upvoting. Upvotes are supposed to be voluntary which shows appreciation and love of the author or thread's works. At least that's how I view it. Why make them upvote when they may not like what they received?
