MOTTE in Houston

I have to blog about this because it was one of the best experiences in my life. Kwon Jiyong aka G-Dragon is my ultimate bias of all time that's why I call him 2nd hubby. For those that don't know, 1st hubby is my real one. Anyways, back to my story.

When I found out that GD is coming to Houston, I knew it would probably be the only time I will ever see him not up close but also not on screen. At least he will be in the same close proximity to me. I knew that if I didn't get tickets, I will regret it. I wasn't going to South Korea anytime soon so this is as close as he can get to me.

I wanted the tickets so bad. There's a doctor at work, he's Korean and when he found out that I liked kpop, he asked me if I was going to the concert. I told him I will try. Everytime I see him, he would ask me if I bought the tickets yet and I would say no. Then he asked me how much the tickets were and he offered to buy them for me. I knew that was wrong so I refused. Finally, I was able to save enough and I did get the tickets, The cheapest ones I could find so our seats (me and hubby's) were in the upper balcony. I didn't really care, I just wanted to be there. GD's concert was my first paid concert I've ever went to. I've seen live performances of famous celebrities but not like a full show of just one person. I finally told that doctor that I got my tickets so he quit tempting me of letting him buy me the tickets (trust me, I was so tempted).

Day of the concert, we were so excited. I checked twitter and I found someone who was coming to the concert so I chatted with her and she told me about the plan to turn our light sticks red when GD sang his new songs (that was an epic fail by the way). It also rained that day, a lot of the people waiting got wet but that didn't stop them.

We live closer to Houston so we thought leaving around 4 would be enough time to get there. The concert is not till 8PM. So we went. Me, my hubby and my stuffed penguin who loves watching GD mvs with me.

We got there early enough and there was a line on one of the entrances. There was also a merch booth which I was excited about because I didn't have a light stick. I was gonna try and buy one online but it wouldn't have made it to me on time. So I was able to buy a lightstick. Then my hubby was like, "why don't you buy a shirt too? It's not everyday, you get this chance." So I did. (I'm so lucky to find him.)

So we line up with the other people and it's about 5:30 or so. It was hot and humid. We were standing in line for so long. Then one of the people that work at Toyota Center were like, are you all lined up for general admission. And we were like what's that? That's for the ground area. And we were like we have reserved seats. And he was like, oh, you're in the wrong line. >_<

So we moved to the presumably right line and waited there. There was a few people with KASH (Korean American Society of Houston) collecting donations for a food drive and they were gonna donate it under GD's name. I forgot to bring food so we gave a little donation instead. So we're in line and it was hot. We were afraid to go get drinks for fear having to go to the bathroom and using the porta-potty so we just stood there and waited. Listening to the kpop songs the KASH booth was playing. It's 7PM and it's supposed to be the time they opened the doors but nope, still closed. There were dark clouds for awhile too so I was afraid it was gonna rain again and we left the umbrella in the car. Finally around 7:15ish, they finally opened the doors.

Our seats were in 413 which is like the upper balcony, so somebody told us we're to go up the escalator and come back down again. I was confused when he said that but I followed him anyway. So we rode the really high escalator and when we got there, there were people there with new tickets and we were moved to 116 which was in the lower level. It was way above our price range before so we were happy to be upgraded. The lady from twitter that I was chatting with earlier was in the same upper balcony are before and she was also moved to the same section we were in but we were a bit ahead of her so we didn't get to chat.

We finally got to our seats and it's just this amazing feeling being in the same place with people who likes the same stuff I do. All the light sticks glowing and some people were wearing crown headbands, (I wanted one of those but they weren't selling them there). And when the music videos started playing on the screens, all the fans started screaming. It was an amazing experience. I was telling my hubby, the people in the front were gonna stand for the whole concert and we ended up standing anyways because that's how good GD is. He deserves a standing ovation for his whole performance. I thought I was gonna cry because I cry at everything. I didn't. I was just having too much fun and everything was so surreal. I never thought I would be able to get a chance to see him performing live.

He's just...so precious. I wanted to hug him. When he was doing his video monologue and then his speech, I just... I didn't feel like he was putting on a show. He felt like a true person. I was so happy I had the chance to see him perform live. The concert ended around 10:20ish. Like I said, we failed to do the red ocean of love which was when we were supposed to cover our light sticks with red bags because I think everybody was just so hyped up when he started singing that some of the fans didn't want to stop waving their light sticks. But it was a great night. I think he was happy with the turn out. I almost thought he was gonna leave without singing Untitled but he came back and did. And then I was jealous of the people on the ground because when he sang that song, he walked through them.

This has been the most amazing experience I've ever had in my life. He did say that he'll tell Bigbang about us and bring the boys to Houston too. I hope so. I love them. I would love to see them in concert. My OT5.
