35 Questions For Writers (also, GUESS WHO'S BAAACCCKKKK?)

1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean?

I’ve already done this, but it started when I thought my first tumblr username was gross (it really was, it used to be 'insertawesomeusernamehere’ very cringe, I know) so I asked my sister for help. She was listening to Panic! At the Disco then, she was listening to, Lying is the Most Fun A Girl Can Do Without Taking Her Clothes Off, and she was at the chorus, it says:

“So testosterone boys, and

Harlequin girls..”

And we were still kind of young, the word was foreign, it sounded unique. Special. That's when she suggested I use that, she said, “use that harlequin, but add 'hahaha’ in front, just to be sure there isn't anyone using that yet."

And I googled the word, it’s synonymous with 'clown’, one of my biggest fears. So in a way, it's like my way of saying,

“I'm afraid of myself, but I just laugh it out.”

And I still use that username, until now. It's, like I said, unique. It leaves an impression on people (quite a mouthful, hahaha), and it's hard to miss, too! I'm making it my legacy, lol.

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

It's Dude, Where’s My Cat? it has 97 subscribers, but that doesn't count because it's a Subscribers Only work (I was shy, it was my first main BaekChen work, and my first oneshot) but I have another one, Cupid Called, He Said To Give My Heart Back that has 89 subscribers (it's because I wiped off the face of the earth for like a year or so) .

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

Lu Han was my first bias, and I was watching THAT EPISODE of EXO’s Showtime when I decided to make an account. HunHan was my first kpop ship, so I thought it was appropriate to use a gif of them as my icon (but I'm considering changing it to BaekChen)

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

I haven't gone on AFF recently, so maybe my once good friends have forgotten about me, or something, but I have come to accept everyone and all, subscribers or not, as friends.

*coughs* It's @zekrom because that's what cheesy sisters are for, and I lowkey plagiarised one of her works (I asked permission for that, dammit, we were sitting across each other when we thought of that stunt, what a snake)

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Ah, I just read whatever I come across that I like. But when I’m bored, I re-read my works, and they're so cringey, it inspires me to write more (and better). I occasionally browse through my ships’ tags, and I just read whatever's piqued my interest.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

I'm subscribed to a whopping number of 678 subscriptions. Hey, I'm not embarrassed, my following count is always bigger than my followers count, I don't care, I enjoy the content I’m getting, and I'm usually just too lazy to unsubscribe, so just think of it as a freebie! A free sub!

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

High school/College/University AU’s hahahhaa, I find it easier to write characters I can relate to.

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

. I can't write . I'm a chatty writer, I write too much unimportant stuff, and I'm always so shy talking in public, especially about . (But within a small group, I can talk about.. stuff. Yeah) The Catholic schoolgirl in me is shaking, please don't.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

Updating regularly, for sure. It seems like I’ve forgotten the sense of time since starting college. I'm sorry

11. How many subscribers do you have?

I’ve this wonderful number of:

Unique subs: 411
Total subs: 523

And I am thankful for the support, though I kinda left them all hanging, please bear with me some more.

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

I have 13 here, and some (11 I think) on AO3, and a bunch on Google Docs. I have a lot, but I'm not sure how many are just reposts from one site.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

Lots and lots of them, all drafts, some tabbed under 'Finished and Posted’ but more drafts than finished stuff. I can't really recall.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Oh yes, I write them down, I mean. I forget things easily, so I have to at least type or write ideas down, I remember things when I write them down.

And my professors always tell us to keep a small notebook on us wherever we go for doodles and ideas, because “you never know what can inspire you, wherever you are”.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

I haven't, but I’ve thrown some ideas to zekrom, so some of her works’ are half from me. Hahahaha.

16. How did you discover AFF?

I was already aware of ff.net, but I thought it was mostly for anime and games pairings, so when I got into kpop, got into exo, I was glad I found AFF, lots of good stuff. Filled my starving HunHan shipping self.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

I’d rather be called “notorious” for not updating regularly, lol. I feel like a wanted criminal, sometimes.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

I don't! I don't have a legacy or I haven't done anything worth starting a cult or fandom name for. Please keep it simple, y’alls.

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I was inspired by those works I’ve read. But I was mostly inspired by the lack of fics for some of my (lesser famous (baekchen was but a small community when i started shipping them)) ships.

20. How many karma points do you have?

I have 2063 karma points fair enough for someone who hasn't come around in years.

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

Just keep writing. Oh, and write at your own pace. If you let the pressure and demand get to you, they’ll weigh you down, and you might end up losing your purpose for writing.

Mine was that I wanted to write for myself, I wanted to read something I like, but there weren't any/much, so I decided to write, so I can indulge, and maybe inspire others to write, too.

But the pressure of updating regularly got to me too much, hit me hard like a truck, that was when the writer’s block started. I couldn't write anything. I couldn't even finish a chapter, it was that bad.

Even now, the pressure and stress from school is keeping me from writing, I've forgotten I used to do writing as a hobby, just for fun. Just to let some words out, so I don't have to say them out loud.

Anyway, just write when you're comfortable. Don't stress yourself out too much. It's like poop. If you have to force it out, it’s gonna end up as .

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

I have a couple works outlined, and planned out, those are the really big projects. I haven't touched them since 2015. I usually just go with the flow. If I'm still high on the last chapter I’ve written, I'll write more of that. When I can't continue, I stop. Easy as that. I write the stories like they're playing like a movie in my head, lol.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

Just really desperate cries for updates, lol. (I'm sorry)

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)

. . Kinks. Stuff I can read (and watch) with a straight face. Oh yeah, and Horror. Gore too. Action, still a little bumpy, but mostly those ones, lol.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

I'm planning on updating everything but I can't finish a chapter yet, so hopefully before August, I've had updated some.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

I JUST WRITE OR START SOMETHING WHEN I GET AN IDEA AND I GET SO EXCITED I MIGHT FORGET ABOUT IT SO I START WRITING THEM.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

I do, actually. But I can't keep going further because I got stuck on this one chapter ugh (they're supposed to be short chaptered, 1000 words or less, but this one is almost at 2k words, damn it. I dragged it out again..)

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

I actually believe I have. My writing styles have changed, and I'm still developing my skills.

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

Our Q&A, that's my first JeongCheol, I'm glad that many people appreciated it. It was a bit confusing to read, but it turned out better than I had expected.

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

THIS ONE WORK I “PLAGIARISED” OFF MY OWN SISTER HAHAHAHAHA (too cringey, tbh, not bc I'm on most of my sister's readers’ blacklist.)

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Still writing. BaekChen. JeongCheol. WonHoon. XiuSoo. XiuHani. HunHan. All my ships, casually writing them. And (hopefully) actually finishing them, and updating regularly.

Oh, and maybe illustrating my own works! That would be fun.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

I have a cute number of 17(teenteenteen) upvotes.

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

It's when the words just roll from your mind to the screen, when the story just spills itself on your fingers to type. If you can visualise the scene, it's easier to write.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

When I lose track of what I was talking/writing about. I get distracted easily, and I can't really focus on one thing at a time. So that's what.

35. Why do you write?

When I'm too lazy to draw, and I always disappoint myself, when I can't finish a drawing, when I'm frustrated, writing is a good way to vent emotions out, and also good for practising speech and grammar. It helps me develop speaking skills, and it comes hand in hand with reading, it helps me broaden my vocabulary.

I started to write so I can read works I actually like. Though I’ve been quite the family disappoint in all of the ships I write for, I still try, and improve. I want to finish them all, so I can help those who want stories like those I write by providing for them. (I'm the mom friend, yup)
