( appearance ) : sonagi is pretty at first glance, but it's a closer look that identifies all the quirky details of her face that make her unique. she has half-moon shaped eyes that look normal enough, but due to a higher placed double eyelid on her left eye, they come out slightly uneven in pictures. her lips are thin and soft, but have a widow's peak sort of effect, her upper lip pointing down in the middle to make her look like a bird sometimes. her nose is her biggest insecurity, protruding outwards and hooking down slightly, but enough to make her hate her side view because "i look like the wicked witch of the west got a failed nose job".

sonagi is basically the epitome of the idea that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. in public, around people she's not close with, she's very quiet and shy, keeping her ideas and jokes and everything to herself because it's not easy for her to express herself so easily to people she doesn't even know. she lowkey has social anxiety and very much dislikes situations where she has to deal with large amounts of people since she's very introverted and trying to please so many people with energy and reactions for a long time tires her out, unless it's something she has a passion for. she doesn't like talking to people because she overthinks every aspect of the conversation and doesn't know when something can be said or if it's unnecessary. she's not one to talk about her emotions well, even with those close to her, so her mindset is 'if they didn't ask, they don't care', so she's not good at initiating conversations or keeping them going. this inept ability to communicate with others takes a toll on many different areas of her life, because how is she supposed to find a career that she can handle, or a significant other that she can be herself around?

those who want to get close to sonagi will really need to put the effort in to continuously show interest and push for reactions and responses. she's not the type to respond enthusiastically and she won't readily show that she's appreciating the effort others put in to get close to her, so the key is to not get easily distressed over her lack of response - it'll be a slow process, but results will come abruptly once they do, because if sonagi knows there's no hugely evident and plausible reason for someone to distance themself from her, she'll be quicker to open up. for example - she's 110% most comfortable and most open around her family, because they're her family and they have no choice but to stay with her forever and love her. eunbi, her best friend, has been there before sonagi was even shy, so she's always known the crazy sonagi. if sonagi is put into a situation with someone she knows can't really escape, she'll be more comfortable to be herself because it's like they have no choice but to get to know her, so might as well.

the finish line is approaching ! the true sonagi is really not one anyone would expect ( which is another reason it's hard for her to open up. she's already made an impression as a quiet, shy person, so how is she supposed to just suddenly reveal her true, sarcastic, lame humored, sadistic self ? ). she's a creative girl, with a wild imagination ( thanks to all the disney rip ), and she can think up the craziest scenarios ( "why isn't omma home yet did she dIE IN A CAR CRASH MOMMY NO" ) or the most violent punishments ( "eunbi if you steal that fry i will take my fork and shove it up your nose and through your eyeballs" ) or just the most random thoughts ( "bro i love kids so much what if i become a child serial killer" ). she doesn't like her difficult introverted mind that is hard for even her to understand ( and now she has to explain it to others, too? this is why she doesn't really like making new friends because it seems like too difficult of a process for her rip ) and she just wants to be able to come off as carefree and fun-loving - which she is, you just have to break the barrier to see it. she's truly a compassionate person, who wants the best for everyone and is always willing to help anyone, even if she doesn't know them, and she has a very giving and accepting heart, not wanting to push anyone away just for what they've been through. she loves to laugh, and since she's witty and observant, she can go along with things if she needs to and she can think up quick, on-the-spot jokes and if you get the full package, she'll even be sarcastic to you ! as said before, she's not good at expressing her emotions, and so she resorts to sarcasm and playful insults, explaining that if she's teasing you, it means she's comfrortable with you, and what bigger accomplishment is there, really.

( background ) : sonagi was born in jeju and lived there until she was about 5, moving to seoul to start school there. there was no particular reason the yeom family moved, they just wanted to experience a new environment. life in seoul is great - sonagi meets eunbi and mingyu and experiences city life, and soon enough, college is right around the corner. eunbi gets accepted to a good school in seoul, but sonagi sees promise in their separation, wanting to be able to possibly start fresh at a new school, where no one knows the old, quiet her. mingyu and sonagi both decide to go to a university in jeju, and so once they hear about disneyland making an appearance, they decide it's the perfect opportunity and apply for jobs together. it's a splendid idea to sonagi, because one, she gets to make money ! and two, it's freakin disney she loves disney okay. three, she also loves kids and working with children is like the one other thing she is open to doing in the future as a career, and four, acting is her number one passion, always has been - she's loved the idea of getting to be another person and express herself in a unique way because otherwise she can't express herself rip, so being a disney character is basically the fulfillment of all her dreams tyvm. it's decided that sonagi will work at the park this summer and stay with her aunt and uncle who live in jeju until college starts, where she will dorm. 

one percent of something

ONE she likes listening to asmr, but doesn't like telling people that because she thinks they'll think it's weird. she thought it was weird at first, too, because 'how is people whispering sensually in your ear satisfying?'

TWO she kind of has really bad hearing because she likes to blast her music ( and also she forgets to turn the volume down after listening to asmr rip )

THREE she's actually quite the avid disney fan. she's grown up watching the movies and singing the songs and loving the characters and wanting to be the princesses and yearning to go to disneyland in california. even if she hasn't watched all the movies, she knows the basic plot of all of them and loves everything disney.

FOUR she also loves music - she's always listening to music and could do any tedious task if you gave her music. due to this attraction to music and the way she religiously memorizes disney songs, sonagi's singing voice is not one to be undermined, and gives her an upperhand feeling as she applies to be one of the disney princesses most well known for her voice.

FIVE she also has an obsession over all that fantasy stuff, i.e., fairies, mermaids, all those mystical creatures. so everything works out man !!

SIX she likes being over dramatic ( with those she's comfortable with ! ), so if someone pokes her arm, she'll probably grip it in pain and wrinkle her face, or if she's telling a story about what happened that morning, she'll include excessive metaphors and she's just very extra. once you get to know her.

SEVEN she also likes to be playfully conceited, because how else will she gain confidence lmao. "omg it's so hot-" "sORRY" "...shut up, sonagi."

EIGHT dad jokes.

NINE sonagi loves kids - like, love love loves them. she gets distracted by babies in strollers like you would dogs on the streets.

TEN she also gets really bad period cramps on the first two days.

ELEVEN  with people she's close to - "are mermaids even supposed to have periods?" THIRTEEN don't ask her what she wants to do with her future - you'll stress her out. she's going in as undeclared for now, and her only passion is acting, but her family always says that's not going to make good and quick money.

FOURTEEN she has this habit of piping up with random things that don't relate to anything said prior or anything going on currently. it's because she sees one thing and thinks of a bunch of other things that could possibly relate to that thing in any way and then goes on to think of some personal experience or something and eventually she'll look at a cow and be like "hey remember that one scene in that school drama-" and no one is ever not taken aback by what she says because it literally has no correlation with what's happening but this is only around those she's close to so no one else judges her lmao

the gu family book

YEOM JAESU, FATHER, 40 Y/O, UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR she'd never say this in front of his smug face, but sonagi aspires to have ahim, she appreciates him all the more.husband like her father. he has never, to her knowledge, angered his wife and instead knows just how to calm her down, and he has never lashed out at his child and instead firmly reprimands her and teaches her what is right. he's a literature teacher at a university in seoul, which means no one in the family goes into a verbal argument with him thinking they're going to win ( jaesu's always right, anyways ). his one flaw is his lame dad jokes ( which sonagi has sadly inherited, and she blames it all on him ) and the way he likes to bluff about himself, hence the 'jaesu obseo' nickname mentioned below. and many think a child automatically has a closer bond with their mother, which may have been true in this case if jaesu didn't take time off his job for paternity leave. his wifes job did make more money, and he was fine with that, but he'd have to basically raise this baby girl by himself, but he was fine with that, too. his love for his family always amazes sonagi, and however much she teases him, she will always appreciate him just as much. 

HEO MISUL, MOTHER, 38 Y/O, PEDIATRIC NURSE misul is probably the most hardworking person sonagi knows - and still the most patient. she's the ultimate role model and has the perfect qualities needed when dealing with her introvert daughter, with the added bonus of knowing how to work with sick children. these two are like a power couple, but mother/daughter duo version. they do your typical cute mother daughter things, like take cute picture and go on cute dates, but they also like ganging up on jaesu - calling him chaffeur and sneaking junk food together behind his back and calling him 'jaesu obseo' ( which means you're rude, or have no manners, or are obnoxious, etc. ). it's all in good humor, but it's where sonagi feels the bond with her mother, as well as the fact that a mother's bond to her child is unbreakable.

HEO MIRAN, AUNT, 42 Y/O, KINDERGARTEN TEACHER miran is sonagi's mom's sister, and it's her house that sonagi is staying in while working at jeju disney and preparing for college. she wouldn't prefer any other landlady - or aunt, for that matter. she's just as hardworking and independent as her sister, yet is able to balance out the firmness with a caring heart, the heart she shows to her students. she's basically an exact replication of sonagi's real mom, but more carefree about what sonagi does because "that's an aunt's job, please". she leaves her alone a lot more than protective misul does, she believes in midnight snacks, she lets her stay out later than she'd usually be able to, etc. sonagi is grateful for her aunt and always tries to return the favor through chores or such.

JO GUNMO, UNCLE, 40 Y/O, LAWYER gunmo is miran's husband, and one look at their relationship will show you that they're perfect for each other. miran likes being active and there's always something to do in her eyes, and gunmo likes to kick back and relax whenever he can. they balance each other out, him showing her how to take a break once in a while, her making sure he doesn't fall back on deadlines and doesn't become a couch potato. gunmo, evidently, is a very chill uncle, and he's not around much to regulate with sonagi does or doesn't do, but he still takes care of her when he can. sonagi, quite the kick-back type herself, tends to take his side in most of his playful banters with miran, and in return, he gives her a few dollars here and there to go buy chips and ramen and all those convenience store goodies.

HWANG EUNBI, BEST FRIEND, 18 Y/O, INNISFREE EMPLOYEE eunbi is the one person sonagi can truly be herself around. since sonagi first came to seoul, the two have basically grown up together, although that's hard to tell since they're quite the opposite at first glance. eunbi, ms. obsessed-with-beauty-and-fashion-but-wants-to-go-into-marketing-because-she's-good-at-smoothtalking, looks like the more outgoing, talkative, amiable one, while sonagi seems harder to get to, more quiet and not as humorous. it's definitely not like that, though, but no one knows that but eunbi, and as much as it disheartens her to see sonagi so socially awkward when she nows how lovable she is, she loves having her friend all to herself. these two are the ultimate partners in crime - they know basically everything about each other, they say and do things at the same time, they take showers together, they have the best teamwork when it comes to anything, meaning they're very successful at anything they attempt together, which is a lot of things because eunbi is quite the daredevil and likes forcing sonagi to try random things with her, ranging from bright pink lip tint to b-boy dance moves. their friendship consists of car ride jam sessions, watching scary movies at 1am, smacking each others' butts whenever possible, making lame mini dramas together on imovie, late night talks by the freeway, cracking up for hours over alpacas, etc. 

KIM MINGYU, CLOSE FRIEND, 19 Y/O, COOK @ JEJU DISNEY if someone asked sonagi to choose someone she felt most comfortable around and eunbi wasn't an option, mingyu would definitely be runner-up. they lived in the same neighborhood in seoul, which resulted in lots of carpooling, and the car rides plus some impromptu fast food stops brought the two closer than they'd expected. sonagi admits to him being her closest guy friend and this means he gets exposed to at least half of what eunbi experiences as sonagi's best friend ( plus some obligatory sass ) which means car ride jam sessions, random memes sent at 1am, comment spams on ig about how ugly he is, snapchats telling him to buy her food, occasional deep talks, busting out in laughter for no apparent reason, etc.

BOO SEUNGKWAN, CHILDHOOD NEIGHBOR, 18 Y/O, WAITER @ JEJU DISNEY for the first few years of her life, when sonagi lived in jeju, she had frequent run-ins with her next door neighbor, a chubby little boy named boo seungkwan who always seemed to have a tangerine in hand. sonagi was a lot more open back then, and their moms were friends, which meant when one had to be out, they'd usually request for their child to stay over at the others'. these spontaneous playdates brought the two close as little kids, but once sonagi moved, seungkwan remained simply a memory, until she came back to work at disney. he recognized her and automatically yelled out her name, and with his intensely outgoing and persistent personality, sonagi felt comfortable enough to allow him to get closer to her. she swings by his restaurant at disney, telling park goers the service is great, that the dinglehoppers are high quality. they don't really put in the effort to hang out outside of the park, but they're not uncomfortable when found alone with each other. plus, she can always count on him to make her laugh.

KANG ROORI, ACQUAINTANCE, 18 Y/O, ALICE @ JEJU DISNEY roori and sonagi are a bit closer than hansol and sonagi - or sonagi might just like to think so. maybe it's because they're both mascots or because roori just seems easier to get along with, but sonagi can see the two of them being very close. roori's personality in general is very loud, and it's completely contrasting to how sonagi is in front of people, but she seems fun and sonagi desires to be her friend. it's hard, since sonagi's not the type to approach people at all, and roori doesn't really understand sonagi's mindset, but this is what character development is all about my man ( you can decide how to go about this ! maybe roori learns to understand where sonagi comes from, or sonagi learns to put in more effort into relationships, or both idc ! ).

KIM ROWOON, FRIEND, 20 Y/O, PRINCE ERIC @ JEJU DISNEY with a princess has to come a prince charming, so here's kim rowoon. he's tall, dark, and handsome - the male protagonist of every girl's dream, the boy next door, the drawing out of a manga, and who knows what sonagi did in her past life to deserve acting out the role of a couple with him. he's the perfect guy - kind, caring, sweet, romantic, and sonagi feels herself being in great danger of falling for him. who wouldn't, when you spend your whole day with him, acting lovey-dovey, holding hands, giving kisses on the cheek, etc.

( introduce yourself! ) : uh my name is yeom  sonagi aaaaand...i'm...18 years old. she stares at the interviewer awkwardly before they motion for more, she panics. uhhh...i'm gonna go to jeju university this year, and... she tries to grab for more, but in her thinking process, the interviewer chuckles and moves on.
( ah, nice to meet you! so, what job are you applying for and why? ) : uh i'm applying to be princess ariel because...well, i've always loved disney and i've always wanted to be a mermaid, so... she chuckles, slightly embarassed at the sudden exposure of her secret desires she's had until even now at 18 years old.
( so, what qualities do you think you posses that makes you qualified for this job? ) : um well i've worked with kids before because my aunt ( not the one she's living with, another one ) has a nursery...daycare sort of thing, and i'm pretty into the whole performing arts thing, like music, singing, acting, and then, well i don't know if this is a given, but i mean i'm a pretty avid disney fan - i know a lot of the movies, a lot of the songs, all that...stuff... she's been trying to make sure she talks slow and doesn't blab too quickly but ,,,
( what are you opinions on kids? ) : her eyes lighten and she speaks genuinely. i actually - i really like kids! yeah, i have, like, younger cousins and my aunt's nursery...yeah. it's still an awkward trail off but the topic leaves her smiling.
( and why do you need this job? ) : mmm well i start work before i start school sooo i'm going to be living with my aunt and uncle and i kind of want to be making money so i don't...so i can...pay them back? in a way? i mean and also, starting college, i think is a big reason because of tuition and all that. she nods.
