The Truth About Fanfic Authors

Something that’s been on my heart for a while. Fanfic writers ROCK MY WORLD. I am a HUGE fan in addition to being an author. Needing feedback, whatever form it takes, is NOT greedy or selfish. It is how any artist knows that their work is making a contribution to the world around them. If you would comment on a work of fan art in any other form, please consider supporting your favorite authors as well!

This is in response to @ymda-rysk / hasunohana‘s post–if I could I would spend every day encouraging all of my fellow writers to keep going, and encourage all of my fellow readers to stop hesitating to show your love!!

Very relatable. I try commenting or leaving some indication of how I felt towards a story because I know how much it means to me. But when I'm really excited and on a binge, I am a bad reviewer :/ must do better.
Thanks for posting this.

this is just incredibly sweet...many parts i even felt like i was stalked lol...like the part that talks about how fanfic writers keep refreshing page to check if there's change of update view number...i sadly do that. and the part where having just one single reader who always show appreciation n love for your writing is enough to drive you through the exhausting journey because it's worth it.....and yes, it is very tiring, and feeling good about your chapter but then the self doubt when there's no increase in response....n so on n so forth...it's kinda scary how this post hits all the right painful spots...just...so detailed...i'm sure your friend will appreciate this n feel appreciated too...though for me...to be motivated can be the hardest and the easiest thing at the same time. a single comment for an update is all it takes...so easy to give(for those who read) yet so hard to receive. Thank you for sharing this sweet post anyhow. this surely has taken a lot of time and effort and not to mention, very meticulous analysis too.
