35 Qs for Writers (P.S. It's been a while)

Tagged by YifanForever
Its been a while since I've done something like this and given the fact its been ages I wont tag anyone. But if you'd like to, by all means have at it :)

1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean

I've always liked stars and so I tried to incorporate that as I ran through multiple other words to go with it. I eventually went with vexed because I like the word and definition.  Aka "problematic" stars haha.

My last username 'headinthebooks101' was based on the saying 'head in the clouds' except with books since I love reading.

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

Arceldia Online, I sort of expected that. Fun fact though Free Napkins & Coffee Spills is my most subbed one shot!

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

I've turned into Haikyuu trash recently. They're crying and I'm always crying.

4. Who is your AFF bestie?
All my AFF bubs are lovely and wonderful tbh so just because I don't name you doesnt make yall any less important. YifanForever and mcxminne in particular though are supportive and precious.

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Not at this time. Even before when I was more free I always ended up reading new stories instead of rereading ones I've already gone through.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

117 but you have to factor out a couple since I've subbed to rec lists and also posters and layout shops.

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

Fluff/slice of life AUs? Its a trope I gravitate towards automatically.

8. How many friends do you have?

112.

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Hm. Honestly if I want to write it, I'll end up writing it but I will be a bit concerned which I guess is sort of being afraid? Because I end up writing different genres, pairings and groups all the time, my reader base is sort of sparse in that sense since I jump all over the place so I end up worried about a new up and coming fic and how well received it'll be. Like I'm not an author known for a certain type of story or fandom, I'm so over the place that readers must be confused sometimes.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc...

Writing of course, I'm always trying to improve that. Also updating my current fics(!!!!!) and then banning myself from ever writing chaptered fics.

11. How many subscribers do you have?

Unique: 2441 Total: 3442

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)

26.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

Not as many as before. Ever since I lost my usb a long while ago its been hard revving things up. I think less than 8 right now?

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I write them down basically anywhere. Usually on the comp, I go for google docs nowadays but sometimes I use my phone notes or even an actual notebook which is how I salvaged a couple of stories.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Not particularly. I've sort of been a bit of a beta to a couple people but nowadays hardly as much. I tried to write one with vixxy501 but it didn't work out too well as we both got respectively busy.

16. How did you discover AFF?

Google. Oho.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

Not at all.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

No.

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I can't remember a particular person tbh. But reading a couple of hunhan stories probably jumped started me to write my own. It snowballed from there as I met more people who were/still are supportive of my endeavours.

20. How many karma points do you have?

5k ish? Ive been thinking of which story I should advertise at some point, like Arceldia again when it's finished or one of my one shots (like Earth to Ashes).

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

Write and don't be afraid of limitations, write cliches and tropes you want. the system. Do it for your enjoyment not for others. Try not to compare, though its easier said than done since I still have the habit of doing it, but we all start somewhere, and you probably have a different writing style that you should grow to be proud of. The writers you know now have started from somewhere. My first stories are drastically different to what I write now so try not to expect yourself to be amazing right off the bat (NOT that I'm saying I am omg). You grow as your writing grows with you.

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Half and half. Depends on what story it is and how long I sort of plan it to be. My chaptered stories are a bit more planned out than my one shots. I like planning scenes I want to include and just work my way towards that.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Luckily I really haven't? But I remember when I wrote my first fic BMSA, I went to review shops and the first one made me rethink a few things like my foreword and how I sort of laid out my fic so my 22k one shot became a two shot instead. They also had other critiques that I did take to heart until I realized if I changed to suit their needs it would have erased the style I have.

I do remember having a couple comments here and there sort of question my story in terms of what would happen plot wise or something I hadn't mentioned in a while. And it honestly helped jog my memory a bit to include it in the future widjeke. Since I'm a bit forgetful so thank you for that.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)
I tried writing and I screamed through the entirety but thats probably because I was embarrassed and wondering what the  I was writing. Definitely not something I'd do again. writers are wonderful at what they do, but I am not one of them. Granted in the future I might try again if I dabble in a more NC-17 kind of fic.

In terms of Arceldia Online actually, the fight scenes require a bit of memory since I have to keep track of who is fighting who, and their abilities as well as enemies too. I also have to make a mental note of where everyone is in the general story too. It's like a lot of technical aspects for maybe one scene which is sort of why it took a while before I could dish out the latest chapter that I have.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Arceldia Online. Since I'm so close to the end. I swear if I don't finish this by the end of this year, someone come and kick my .

Currently I do have two one shots I want to finish too so I guess stay tuned for that. One is a vmin fic that'll be posted on my AO3 and a Yixing/OC college!AU that'll be posted here.

Sadly Past Perplexity will be on the back burner for a while. Ever since I lost my usb, I lost the planning for that fic and all the notes I made to keep track of the current chapters. So I gotta find time in the future at some point to sit my down and reread my own fic to try and remember where I wanted to go with it.

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

Always.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Not really. Though I feel like I should get into the habit. Problem is either time doesn't permit that or other things get in the way and writing becomes the last thing on my mind.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Of course!

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

Earth to Ashes. I so want to write another dystopian fic soon.

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

For You, No Charge. Ive put it on draft a couple of times because of it but was ultimately like " it".

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Maybe a book on the way? Like legit publishing and everything, its something I've aspired to be since I can remember. Also happily writing without hindrance. I don't know if I'll still write fanfics but I feel like maybe I might.

32. How many upvotes do you have?

648

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Coming up with the idea/AU I  want to write.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Not having the time or energy to write. - Leaving what Reya said because I agree.

35. Why do you write?

I really love it. But I have some mixed feelings right now. Trying to get on the right path again since its something I do enjoy and cherish dearly.

Hey, honestly I think that story we started still has merit. If you're ever up to it, i'd be glad to continue it. I just went on summer break :)
