Hanui was born to Korean parents and was the second oldest, she has two other siblings. Hanui is part of twins, who has an older brother and a younger sister. Her father works as the CEO of a fashion company. Her mother is an ex-police officer who decided to retire really early to raise her children. As her parents had initially ran off because their marriage was not accepted by her maternal grandparents, therefore her mother had to quit the job that linked and reminded her of her parents.
Once, Hanui was 12 years old, her parents decided one of the twins had to go and persuade their grandparents. And who would it be, but Hanui. Hanui was sent off because she was the most quick-witted of the siblings. The one who was not only patient but suitable to help melt her grandparents', heart. Besides, they lived in an area that was famous for farming, Hanuel was not really suited for outside of Seoul, besides he was really a troublemaker. Haru was young, and their parents worried about whether she would be able to survive alone. Which, left Hanui being the perfect candidate.
Hanui was sent there, to Siheung, to study atleast that's what her grandmother was told. The poor women, was too scared of her husband and had no say in the same anger as her husband. When she got the call from her daughter after 12 years, she was estatic yet sad and frightened for what her husband would say. She agreed in the end, after Choi Hana begged her mother to give Hanui a chance. When Hanui got off at the train station she was surprised to see that, both her grandparents were there. Despite being initially cold, her granddad soon, warmed up to the lively and warm child. Soon the family all reconnected every one but, Hanui's aunt and mother. Her aunt took longer to come around. Whilst staying over, she focused on improving her English and during the summer, her cousin Ahn Hyungseob ould visit alone. They soon became really close. He is added to the siblings' group chat, although first not too sure about befriending the guy, Hanuel finally gives in and the cousins all become close, promising to meet one day altogether and even planning to reunite their families.
They force their parents to attend their grandparent's wedding anniversary, and ke sure that scenarios bring the two close again. When it seems like all their plans will fail, they end up making the sisters walk into a room and close the door on them until they reconcile. When the cousins open the door, the two thankfully are in tears after spending 15 odd years apart they spend the rest of the evening catching up. Hanui also figures out where her destiny lies, when she turns on the tv that night. She hears After School and is hooked from that day on wards. She ends, up rewatcing old interviews, and begins to wonder what it will be like to be a singer. She brings this up to her grandparents and they think that it is a pretty good idea to follow in her brothers footsteps. She starts talking some classes for vocal lessons and basic dancing to further her chances to become a trainee. Once her grandparents take this matter to her parents, who think she should return to Seoul as she can attend more classes there and search for a company too.

But that doesn't mean the cousins were without contact. Since they were young, they often met at their grandparents house, and hence became close but in secret due to family disputes.

Hanui actually was part of the audience when Euiwoong was a guest on Hello Counselor, by thies time she had no idea who he was. She did think he was rather cute though. Despite meeting the other 3 idols, who are in Euiwoong and Hyungseob's group, Hanui hit it best off with Euiwoong. They actually exchanged numbers because they hit it off really well, especially their leader-like qualities.
☆ 'Oppa' friend / Park Woojin / 23 / Idol - Wanna One / Brand New Music Idol [CURRENTLY] / Contestant of PD101 / shy, reversal-charms, hard-working / Woojin is introduced to Hanui through her twin, but Hanui had seen him on Produce 101 because of her cousin. Even though her cousin and Woojin are super close, its her sister who introduced him after they began dating. Hanui unlike sisters in usual, was more protective Woojin than her sister when it came to their relatioanship. She made sure she was clear that she was on #teamWoojin and not #teamHaru, although this only enderared her sister, and she was happy for her boyfriend. Woojin is Hanui's go-to person when dealing with her feelings for Seonho, as she knew they were close and are still after all this time. She feels a bit uncomfortable bringing it up to her cousin, especially as she knows he'd be biased.

At first, Guanlin is rather shy with Hanui and the atmosphere is pretty awkward until Seonho makes them list their favourite things, and they both find out how sporty the other is. Soon, Seonho is left jealous as he sees his girlfriend and best friend hit it off, as though they've known each other for years.

Hanui was actually already under SM for a fairly long period of time, and as SM did not have any ideas or plans to debut a girl group at any time soon, they recommended Hanui to them. Hanui re-auditioned so that Super Junior knew of her abilities. She decided to sing a song, that would really showcase her talent in Singing, so she sang, Ailee's 'I'll show you'. Prior to joining SM, Hanui tried her luck at Pledis who have her cousin, Ren, already as an artist. However, at that time she did not make the cut, there after she tried her luck with SM ent and successful got in as a trainee.
As the twins were practically joint to the hip since a young age, despite Hanui's disappearance for a few years, they were able to learn each other's specialty a bit. Hanui is considered a good dancer. Just not to Haru's level.
