despite having that side to her, she's extremely hardworking. she always aims high and when she cannot reach what she sets out to, she's her own worst critic and will beat herself up about it. she's also not very confrontation and avoids conflict by talking her way out of it or doing whatever takes to avoid it. she's also very emotional and vulnerable to criticism, but is working on it. she has a tendency to overthink what someone is saying or reads too much in between the lines and sometimes all of that overthinking pushes her into a corner and makes her upset for awhile.
BACKGROUND: elise hwang is a korean canadian born and raised in good ole toronto, canada. how elise came to love music and anything related to the entertainment industry she attributes to her mother. when she was younger, her mother basically forced her to take ballet lessons much to her dismay. elise endured for a year or two before she decided it just wasn't her and instead convinced her mom to let her try a different genre of dance - hip-hop - and boy was it the best decision of her life. some may even say dance was her first love. learning how to play guitar and singing followed shortly after, however those were merely a hobby. elise turned to music, instruments, and dance as a way to excape the reality she faced each and every day. her parents were well-known in the medical community and some may even consider her family "elitists" however elise never took interest in any of that. because her parents were so invested in their career they were absent for most of her childhood, the person she had been the closest to was her older brother. he is the only one who knows everything there is to know about her and has always supported her and encouraged her to go after what she wants and not simply because their parents wanted her to. perhaps that's why she was able to leave everything behind to begin her journey to becoming an idol when she was given the invitation to at the age of 17.
it was thanks to her popular youtube channel she started for comedic humor purposes that ultimately helped her get her foot in the door. her parents obviously opposed of it, but her brother actually pushed for it- he helped convince them otherwise to which she will always be grateful for. So at the age of 17, elise purchased a one-way ticket to korea where she was met with many challenges that would help her grow as both an artist and a person (later discussed in sections below).

TRAINEE LIFE: thanks to one of her loyal subscribers, a representative from starship entertainment just so happened overhear what his daughter was listening to and was drawn in by elise's voice. he showed her channel to CEO kim si dae and he was impressed by her vocals, surprisingly. not too long after, she received an offer to train under their company if she had any interest in being a part of his next BIG girl group, Cosmic Girls. it was a gamble. Elise had always seen singing and dancing as a side-hobby never someting she'd consider doing for the rest of her life. Her goal had always been to apply to med school, follow through with it in hopes to become a pediatric doctor, but then again life was all about taking risks so she accepted.
during her time as a trainee, her dance skills improved significantly. when it came time for monthly evals, she was the one who always came out second to zhang meiqi, which she was fine with. she was also featured in a couple music videos. At first, she was extremely ecstatic about training under such a big-name company, but as time passed, she slowly understood what a fickle and meticulous man the ceo was. due to her impatience and realization that this company couldn't offer her much more, plus this whole girly-girl vibe cosmic girls seem to give off didn't exactly appeal to her. with her background in hip-hop dance, she was hoping to do more edgy things which she doubted cosmic girls would do. elise admits to having voiced her disappointments about the group's concept to zhang meiqi, a dancer/member she was most comfortable with a few days following the release of her teasers. in their talk she had even bad-mouthed the ceo and wished she had quit earlier, however, this was only the disappointed side in her speaking. she didn't really mean it, but whoever it was that had ratted her out, must have held some big grudge on her either because they were jealous of her talent or who really knows. she was originally in the natural line alongside dawon and meiqi but was quickly replaced by luda in the line-up after her dismissal from the group.
to be perfectly honest, elise was internally celebrating her dismissal from the group. with this dismissal she was finally free and was able to seek growth as an artist elsewhere. the spiteful person who ratted her out and her scandal with jooheon was the escape she so desparately needed. elise was never great at confrontation, so the chances of her handing in her resignation was slim.
TRAINING YEARS:
left the company after 3 years when she saw finally realized she was wasting her time, at least that was partially why. she figured there could be a better opportunity elsewhere and by staying in the same place, she wasn't growing as an artist. she's talented, yes- but so were the many many other trainees starship entertainment housed.
PREVIOUS COMPANY: starship entertainment
PRE-DEBUT ACTIVITIES: at age 13, she started a youtube channel just for the heck of it which later became quite popular. it first started off as more of a comedy channel/vlog kinda thing (think mychonny, leendaproductions). upon request, she uploaded a hidden talents video tyoe deal where she covered a song by one of her favoite artists at the time. when she awoke the next morning, she was surprised to find her video had gone viral and since then she continued to upload more and more.
she was also part of a competitive hip-hop dance crew that formed during her freshman year of highschool which she was involved in up until the beginning of her senior year (17) when she moved to korea to pursue this crazy dream of becoming an idol. prior to this hip-hop crew madness, she had been dancing since the age of five - started with ballet classes her mom forced her to do. didn't like it, then switched over to hip-hop.
SCANDALS:
Elise found herself caught up with MONSTA X's Jooheon. They'd met as trainees and outsiders would say they were always at each others' throats - always trying to one-up one another. You know how that saying goes- the more you argue, the more you're concealing how much you /actually/ like each other. Was that the case for these two? Certainly. The pair eventually began meeting up in secret. They'd put up a front in front of others, but behind the scenes- they were very /very/ involved with each other. This went on for about a year until she caught him screwing some trainee in the supply closet- the very place he said they should never do it despite her wanting to. Now she knew why.
Knowing Jooheon's personality he would never let her have the last word. He made things extra difficult for shortly after they separated. she was almost positive he was the one who leaked photos of them from their jeju trip - her with her hands all over him in the freakin' ocean. vice versa. And of course it had to come out RIGHT after her teasers for the upcoming girl group came out. This shook up the netizen world - are the two really dating? Is this a publicity stunt? starship ceo wasn't having it with this negative publicity and dismissed her. she didn't even try to prove her innocence. it was better to leave things the way that it was - if it meant not having to see that scumbag of a cheater then so be it. He was honestly the first guy she ever trusted and some may even say /loved/, but the betrayal hit her hard and she no longer wanted anything to do with him or starship entertainment.

jimin is honestly one of the sweetest angels that have ever walked the face of the earth. he shows great personal warmth and is great at making others feel valued and cared for. He does his best to be as accepting an as apprecitive as he can be. He places great importance in people and his relationshisp with them. He is sensitive to people's needs and naturally selfless and tries to be resourceful. His sincereity draws people towards him without needing to be authoritative or attention-seeking. he's highly attuned to his surroundings, situations, and people and can respond to them quickly. this carries over well into his work too giving him the strong stage presence fans fawn over.
however, despite his selfless nature, there are some moments where he forgets to take care of himself. he can give too much or overexert himself in his desire to express love or be loved. people can take advantage of him or he might get overwhemed himself and burn out. he needs to learn how to put himself first once in awhile.
HISTORY: after she caught jooheon cheating on her, she was e n r a g e d. jooheon chased her out into the streets hoping to consol and win her back, telling her she was simply overreacting and claimed her still loved her. elise didn't buy it for a second and wagered that if he could sleep around recklessly, she would too and would do so with the /next/ person she bumped into. enter park jimin. he had overheard this noisy couple's dispute thanks to loud-mouth brunette over here. he wasn't sure what in him possessed him to interefere, but he did. he purposely bumped into her and once he did, she asked him if he would sleep with her to which he cooly agreed, wrapped his arm around her shoulders and begun to lead her away. she could hear jooheon yelling after her something about if she left with this guy now, they were really over. elise could care less at this point, waved her hand dismissively and left.
now to answer whether they slept or not? Elise couldn't remember most of what happened after they'd left her now ex in the dust. Only fragments from that night replayed itself in her head. She remembered thanking him for saving her- telling him she wasn't actually the type of girl to randomly ask someone to hook up, but invited him for drinks. Knowing her she most likely drank past her limit. The next morning, she awoke in his bed, dressed in what she assumed was his shirt. It was too big for her. To this day, Jimin has never once confirmed whether they slept together or not. Each time she brought it up he would smoothly evade it or get flustered or something. She took this odd behavior as a yes. Why else would she be in his clothes? The last memory she had before everything went fuzzy was her pushing him down onto his bed, fire burning bright in her eyes. nothing happened that night - jimin was perfectly sober and could attest to that. elise had passed out on top of him before she could even touch him. somewhere in the night she had tried to strip off all of her clothes, he guessed she was used to sleeping without anything on? but he was a decent man, he wasn't the type to take advantage of a drunk girl so he slipped one of his shirts over her head and let her sleep in his bed. for her own safety, he slept in the living room couch that night. he chose not to tell her what happened as an excuse to continue talking to her- a little someting to hold over her head to make her flustered some may say.
the two had kept in touch and met more often than one would think. it was actually jimin who reached out to her and told her BigHit was searching for talented female trainees and that she was the first one that came to mind. the pair had actually bounced choreography ideas off of each other shortly after she'd left starship entertainment. they'd meet up when his schedule would allow and he'd show her what he was working on and she'd try to mirror him or offer constructive criticism which he took well. vice versa. their relationship did not change much after she joined, if anything it brought them closer together.
INTERACTIONS: the two are found pushing each others buttons for s and giggles often. laughter is the best medicine, y'know? they find comfort being in each others' company. she's found herself smiling more often in his presence and he could say the same. elise has slept over at his place a couple of times - in his bed and everything, but they haven't gone further than kissing at least in Jimin's mind. elise is still convinced they've done the deed and is sometimes confused as to why Jimin stops her from advancing past lingering touches.

in that awko-taco phase where they're not sure if they're just friends or if there's something more there. there's clearly some unspoken neither of them have said anything about but know it's there. elise is still under the impression that they've slept together before so each time they accidentally make contact or he says something to her that could be taken in a suggestive way, she gets hella freakin' flustered.

i. how do you feel about finally debuting?
honestly, i was really close to losing hope. i was sitting in my room the other day surrounded in thought, wondering what the heck I have been doing these past 3 years. what if i had just gone to school like my parents wanted me to. If i had, I would be worrying about the MCAT and I would also be anxiously awaiting acceptance/rejection letters from the medical schools I applied to.
but in the end i'm glad i accepted the offer. it feels great knowing all your hard work has finally paid off. Thank you BigHit for giving me this opportunity.
ii. are you close to any of your labelmates? if yes, who?
outside of my own members, hmm /she thinks to herself for a moment before responding, choosing her words carefully; i'm pretty close to bts's taehyung and namjoon. /she chose to leave jimin out hoping it would protect whatever relationship they had together; taehyung and i are always up to mischief whether we're aware of it or not. as for namjoon? i like to pretend i can rap around him for giggles. it's also nice having someone i can speak english with from time to time. i'm honestly afraid i'm going to lose the ability to speak it if i don't practice.
iii. if you could choose someone from bts to collaborate with, who would it be and why?
oh goodness this ones tough. hmm. it'd be a toss up between jimin or jungkook depending what we're focusing on here. if it were a duet, i think jungkook and my voice would go well together! I wouldn't mind doing a duet with jimin as well, but i think i'd be more excited to do a dance number with him honestly. have you seen that boy move? plus, our dance style is similar.
iv. who do you look up to among your groupmates?
hmm this is a toughie. if i had to pick one, it would be [RHODES]. being able to jump from company-to-company takes a lot of dedication and diligience. i'm not sure if i could do that if i were here. i'm glad she kept with it and that she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. she's truly talented and i'm grateful i get to call her not only my groupmate, but my sister from another mister~
v. what do you hope for underdogs?
this sounds super cliche, but i just hope we don't lose sight of what brought us where we are in the first place. i hope we can continue learning and growing together as a group in the years to come~
