WINNER'S JINWOO APPRECIATION POST

I just had to get this out of my chest, find someone to spazz with me or somethin. I'm a YG Stan. Everytime a group comebacks/debuts, I support it. Winner isn't really a group that I was following closely, like, I just like their songs to be listened on repeat on Spotify. I'm not that much of a fan to watch their music/variety shows/ activities, to know their likes/dislikes and whatnot. I just want to listen to some good music.
BUT THIS 2017 COMEBACK. I WAS SO SHOOKT FROM THE CORE. I was like, "What the hell is this?" My perspective of Winner changed entirely. 

I couldn't pick a bias among them since, ever since WIN, they are shining on their own right. But the inevitable happened. And my heart chose Jinwoo >.<

I watched WIN and see him struggle so much. He was considered the visual of the group and tbh, for me, it ended just there. I thought that he was just someone with a pretty face (I don't really want to voice out this opinion of mine since it sounds harsh.) He didn't really have that much stage presence within the group, compared to others. His singing was just okay, and it doesn't have that 'distinct' quality. But with Taehyun's departure, a lot of things had to change. It seems that the vocal line had to fill his spot somehow. And I think, in the process, made Jinwoo shine brightly, vocally, confidently, and visually. I mean, gurl, have you ever seen him nowadays? So, I felt that this rant (?) post is going to be longer than intended so I'll break it down.

VISUAL
I don't know what the heck happened with their coordinators, but am not complaining. Jinwoo had the image of an innocent, shy guy in the past. But with their recent comeback, he is slowly becoming more of an innocent playboy type, the type that plays with your feelings and is completely oblivious about it. He has even learned to smother the camera with his deadly gazes wth (see fool mv; music show perfs) and make hearts flutter (see winner singing really really acapella). He seems so confident nowadays, and not the "fake it till you make it" type of confidence but more of like "look only at me and me only babe/I own the stage beetch" kind of confidence. Now, his stage presence is no joke. He knows how to command attention when he wants to. And even if your sight is lingering to someone else, trust me, HE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK AT HIM ONLY AND NO ONE ELSE. But that's just my fangirl side attacking my rationality.

VOCAL
With Really Really, his voice really shined. I think Winner's trying to send lots of girls to the hospital because of heart attacks or somethin. If we put it this way, Jinwoo's voice has grown to become y. His 'whisper-like', mellow tone seemed to match well with Seungyoon's powerful vocals. Like hot and cold. Seungyoon's voice seems too overpowering for it to be even competed with another vocal member. Personally, I think Jinwoo had a hard time shining in the past because of Seungyoon and Taehyun's voice quality. The duo's voices will keep playing in your head. They are the frontliners of the nasty earworms in your head. Jinwoo's voice then brought the solution to that problem by being the opposite, by not singing with the kind that irritates you so much because as a fan you can't hit the high notes like Seungyoon and Taehyun do but with singing with a 'chill' vibe that makes you feel like he's just beside you, whispering those words. Now it's safe to assume that his voice can get stuck in your head (Neol Jeowahae!)

I personally think Jinwoo's voice became so much stable compared to his past performances. There are times that I have to think, 'Is that MR? Or is that his own voice coming from his lips?' There are also some times his voice is not clearly heard. I dunno why, maybe because Seungyoon's explosive vocals is alternating with him.
But he really has improved a lot. His voice color is finding its own uniqueness. He is in his own comfort zone and has learned to own the stage. And from this, I can safely say that we will get a lot more of this in the future. In every comeback, he just keeps getting better and better. And that's the thing about him. He has never given up from day one. His persistence led him to where he is right now.

Before anyone attacks me with pitchforks or something, I just want to say that this is my own personal opinion and there may be points that I've said without really knowing the group (since I didn't follow them that much in the past). These are just my observations.

P.S. (Spazzing mode) Over the course of days, my summer life has revolved around watching WINNER's affairs/reading-writing fics that it's becoming to that point where I have to say, "SOMEBODY GET ME OUT OF THIS MESS". Seeing Jinwoo everywhere is catching my attention so much my poor heart can't take. I mean, he's so rude, don't you think? I just want to hear Yoon hitting the notes perfectly, watch Hoon move that y bod of his, and get lost with Mino's charismatic raps. But Jinwoo just makes it so hard for me to do that. He is such a bewitching fine fellow that doesn't know how to keep his visuals down. [tbh, sometimes, his visuals is too much for me to even PROPERLY listen to him crooning. I just want to focus damn it!]

*sighs contentedly* Now I feel better letting those out of my system. Now I'll lurk peacefully in the shadows.
