35 Questions for Writers

Oooook, I give in.

1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean?
Uh, the answer is kind of personal, but the English meaning is "the perfect game," and I'll leave it at that. (I also wanted something my real life friends wouldn't be able to find haha.)

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?
I believe it's Good Morning, a one-shot with Shinhwa's Eric.

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?
Lol, because that scene still makes me laugh when I watch the movie. Pretty sure I've watched Mulan a hundred times by now.

4. Who is your AFF bestie?
I don't think I have one...The first person I ever really interacted with was kiba_phoenix, but we only just recently reconnected. Hey girl (if you're reading this)! :P

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Hm, I haven't been re-reading stories recently, but the one I returned to a lot when I first started on this site is called The Interview by 2Ne1L0v3R...I'm confused as to if it's an adaptation or not, but it hasn't been taken down so :D

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?
HA, 151 O_O

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
None, I try to base my writings off reality. (The only exception is One Touch [Is All It Takes], a fantasy AU based on EXO's powers.)

8. How many friends do you have?
73! I'm surprised I even have that many, but I've come across a lot of interesting people recently.

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I've already [partly] written it O_O Play On

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?
I want to try my hand at designing my own posters but I'm unsure how to start. Probably with an imgur account XD
Um, I also think layouts are confusing, however I don't see myself using any in the near future (even though I've bought like 10...)

11. How many subscribers do you have?
382 unique, 417 total. Not many, but I don't mind. I find that OCs aren't usually accepted in fanfiction worlds ^^

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?
19.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?
LOLOLOLOLOL, oh God, a lot. Let's count...14? A few of them are iffy because they could be related to Korean entertainment or not. If you want AFF PLUS ones I might post to other sites, then...30?

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I try to write them down. Some of the times I just forget and then hate myself for forgetting. (OH WAIT, there could be story ideas on my phone too...Would those count for #13? Holy I need to stop.)

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No, I don't think I'd like how that'd work.

16. How did you discover AFF?
WELL, I was looking for TopBom stories, and the rest was history XD

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?
HAHAHAHAHA, no.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
I know I've used "lovelies" more than once, but I think I've also used "beauties" and "darlings"...Otherwise no, nothing concrete. That'd be weird haha.

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
No, not particularly. I always knew I liked to write, and when I couldn't find the stories I was looking for, I decided to write and post them myself.

20. How many karma points do you have?
Ehm, 440?...Oop, nope, 491.

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Just write, no matter what your level is. You don't have to post it anywhere, just keep a record of it to see how much you grow with time and practice.
If or when you feel comfortable enough to share it with someone (be it a family member, friend, or the internet), then do it. It'll help to get peer-reviews and see if you missed something (grammatically, plot-wise, etc); it's always good to get something looked at with new eyes.

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I...don't plot them. I have an idea and then it just flows. I find out how I want it to end while I'm writing and I get there eventually. But most of my readers know (hopefully) that I write my story on a Word document way before posting it online (except for The 30 Day Challenge), so I usually finish the story and edit it for a while before uploading chapters once a week or once a month if it's a multi-chaptered story.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Not on AFF, but on fanfiction.net I have. I already had a full blown conversation about this with MissMinew X'D but I'll type it up again: I really like the Lord of the Rings movies, so I wrote a story about a female OC who appears in all the movies. Early on, I got a review from a hardcore Tolkien fan, and she gave me really good feedback on my writing: that a first chapter without any dialogue could be tiring for a reader who wouldn't go past it; how my summary was misleading; and then she gave me references to use for future research etc. While it wasn't completely negative, I was a bit taken aback because she took the time to type out a 4-ish paragraph review for me.
The second review I got on the story was about...12 chapters in. She just wrote a lot of what seemed like attacking questions about my character and my plot; how my character was too nice and perfect, that she was a Mary Sue (I really dislike that term btw; who cares if your character is a Mary Sue, just write her anyway); the person didn't like that my character gave hugs or that she would apparently fix significant plot points in the movies (nothing was fixed, the reader got as far as 12 chapters and didn't realize the plot was exactly the same as the movie); and others more specific y'all probably aren't interested in :P Anyway, I didn't like how I read her comment: she sounded like she didn't like my story and she was pin-pointing every tiny little detail. I ended up taking a few days to calm down and think about her questions while looking at my story again. I ended up changing a lot because of her review, which was a good thing because I think my story is a lot better because of it. Our conversation actually lasted bout six months, with me examining and explaining every single one of her questions, telling her what I adjusted and what I didn't. She was very considerate and understanding, apologizing for sounding accusatory and even thanking me for explaining and listening to what she had to say while not getting angry.
SO, all in all good experiences. Except for the most recent experience with a review *I* left on someone else's story (see last blog post, "LISTEN UP WRITERS") which is so stupid and hilarious, I've gotten over it.

Haha, hope you had fun reading all of THAT XD <3

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)
definitely, even though I already have a few ty stories posted lol. I usually have a hard time writing in general, like just sitting down and really putting my mind to it.

25. What story(s) are you working on now?
Heh, I'm sure all of you are sick of hearing it by now, but I've been working on a one-shot compilation with Song Jihyo all this month (my own April 30-day challenge, "The 30 Day Challenge" as mentioned earlier). I also still have Variety Royalty going on, "Play On," and "One Touch [Is All It Takes]."

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Remember question 13? Yeeah...

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Nope. I'm just trying to finish some of these stories by the end of the year haha.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?
I don't know. I think I've gotten more comfortable sharing my stories, but as to improving, I really don't know.

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?
Probably Meeting 2PM. I referred to it as my "AFF love child" on one of the last chapters XD

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?
A couple actually: A Summer Encounter and Playing Defense (which also has a second version: Playing Defense SECOND VERSION). The first one is like a newfound friendship kind of story between one of my OCs and Heo Youngji. It's kind of an introduction to a future story, one I haven't started writing yet but the idea's still rolling around in my brain. The second one...was kind of a failed attempt because I meant to make it comedic and ended up making it serious (the second version is the funnier one). But more people have seen and have subscribed to the first version of PD which is annoying to me. I thought about deleting PD and making PDSV the main story, but I can't bring myself to do it.

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I'm not sure. Since I've been writing so much recently, maybe writing as a career somehow? Dunno how that'll happen though, cuz writing jobs require experience, and I don't have any, and I can't get any because no one will hire inexperienced people...Vicious job cycle guys. If you're not out of school yet, be thankful you're not an adult.

32. How many upvotes do you have?
22! (Man, as I delete the answers from the previous person, who just happens to be bowtiekai, I get a little conscious of my numbers. I know it's not important, but still (; )

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Coming up with ideas.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Actually writing T_T

35. Why do you write?
Because I like the creative aspect of it, I've written practically all my life, it's something to do while I figure my life out.

Yay!
