35 Qs for Writers by OnceUponAnEXO - tagging everyone (COUPLE OF ANSWERS)

Before I update my stories, I decided to do a blog, just for the sake of it. So here we go...!

1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean?
My username used to be SapphireThorns12, simply because Sapphire sounded beautiful and roses have thorns. Like a cliche metaphor, and I used 12 because it was the next number available. Lmao, but I changed it to HellodyLust when I got the right amount of karma, but then Lust was too risque and I thought it would push innocent readers off when I would write a non-rated story, so Hellody happened. Hellody is also the username of one of my favorite deviantart artists. I love reading Sonic fanfiction (I know, right?) and she does some haughty work. Nothing too crazy, don't think less of me. Hahaha I have a thing for kind girl and bad boy together so I weirdly ship Shadow with Amy the Hedgehog (I can just hear your disappointment) I mean, please, isn't this cute? Art Credit TO Hellody. Her link is on her name if you want to check her out. She's super talented. When is she finishing her comic Ternion?! She has the story to a T when it comes to fleshing out the characters.

2. Which is your most subscribed to this day?

Starve This Sin

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

I've been with EXO for half a decade, I think it's fitting. ;)

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

I don't know. I haven't talked to people in a while. To me bestie is deeper than how it goes around.

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Not really. I do go to some but I don't read them from top to bottom because the emotions they gave me were too strong to bear. Just ...Really? & The Real Beast are G-Dragon and Taeyeon stories by kpoponly. The writer is insanely talented. She got so much love and support in little time. It's like reading those idols in real life. Honestly. She's that good. I also like I'll Never Fall For You, Brat! It's an OC and Sehun story - not rated. I just haven't gone around to it again because since it's a 'YOU' story it's hard for me. The protagonist takes a while to fall in love with the guy and while it's understandable, I would've already dropped into Sehun's arms in the first chapter. Lol He's my bias, what can I say?

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?
205 stories/shops.

7. What AU do you find yourself writing about most?
I don't write AU. I had Starve This Sin!au but deleted it.

8. How many friends do you have?

AFF speaking, I have 204. Most are readers though. Real life...that's hard. I have people I can almost call friends. I'm sure if they read this they would be offended, but honestly, friends means a lot more than what it's know today.

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

People are going to judge regardless of what a story is about, I believe. Of course I'm not going to go around writing about something insane and psychotic, but on the internet or anywhere there will always be THAT person, you know? To answer the question, I would write an story. I don't condone it in real life. Hell no. In fiction though, it's actually fun to read. I watch it in anime at times.

11. How many subscribers do you have?

Unique subs - 2,966

Total subs - 5,168

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

14 in total [11 completed, 3 incomplete]

I have no idea where Destiny's Child is going though...

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

The ones in the works. Maybe Baby. Destiny's Child. Heartproof.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

50/50 If I don't write it I forget later or if I do, I end up deleting and write something else. It depends.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Nope. I can barely keep on my own. Hahaha but I was a reviewer once. It was fun!

16. How did you discover AFF?

Searching for Shinee fanfics.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?
Dude, there are so many authors here and I barely make the list of top 100. Are there any of those? Let me know. :D

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

I don't have an offical or established fanbase. I'd love to one day! I think it's awesome.

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

I don't remember who it was, but I hated that they didn't elaborate the love triangle between Key/Eunji/Jonghyun. So I decided to make my own story. The rest is history.

20. How many karma points do you have?
11, 182 Kps

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

  • Read. Please. That helps a lot. Read. Not just stories here in AFF, but read works from great authors. Some of my favorites are Edgar Allan Poe, Scott Fitzgerald, Nathaniel Hawthorne. Their works are art to me.
  • Look up YouTube videos of avid readers. They help writers write what the READERS want. They explain the tired tropes they hate to see, recommend good books to read, and it's just a fun thing to see people's different opinions of what makes a good read.
  • Write what you know. I know, I know... but just picture a 14 year old writing a fiction being a herself. The good s I've read are from people who ACTUALLY done the woo-hoo. *cough cough*
  • Don't be discouraged if you get low amount of readers. Sometimes your first work won't be the one that grabs the readers' attention. Also, don't feel bad if you get little to no comments. Have patience. LOTS OF IT.
  • I like to read the dictionary or thesaurus for fun. It helps the brain grab different words. It seems to be that an expanded vocabulary helps and it creates the illusion that you're smart or mature beyond years. *wink*

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Again, it depends. Only Destiny's Child, I just published on the spot. I usually create an outline or backbone before writing. I write a few sentences for the beginning, middle, and end. If you have a clear mindset where the story is going to end, the easier writing it will be. The flow is much smoother. If you're that good you don't need one tell me your secret. However, I found that when I have an outline when writing a new story, it's much easier. Sometimes making it up as you go can make you forget important elements you already wrote. For me, I just ended up writing in circles or even deleted some stories because I had no idea where I was going.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes! I submitted a review request for a story that I deleted a long time ago for the previous reason stated above. It was a Luhan X OC. It kind of broke me. Lol The review was quite harsh. (If you're a reviewer, keep in mind there's a fine line between professional critisism and just flat-out being a or an ...or both. It's like people abuse it and feel entitled to tear the author down because you're "helping" the author improve.) I really was disheartened. I ended up deleting the story. Yes, call me drama queen and bite me for all I care. I'm human. I have feelings, kay? lmao Now, I'd just brush it off. I evolved and developed a harder skin.

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..) SKIP THIS QUESTION IF YOU DON'T LIKE HAUGHTY COMMENTS
If I don't get just a slight moist when writing , I start all over again. Sooo.... .

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Destiny's Child.

Maybe Baby

Heartproof

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Yes, well except DC. Hahaha but yes. I usually do.

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
Used to. Not so much now, but I hope to find motivation again.

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Hell yeah, hunty. Like a child riding a two-wheel bike. Even now, some of my works I think need fixing. I grow up every day.

Starve This Sin & Quench This Fire

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Thinking of ways to create something new and brilliant.

35. Why do you write?

  • I don't know how to express myself with real speaking words, writing helps me vent.
  • Classmates from high school encouraged me to write. They liked reading my poems and short stories. Same with teachers.
  • There's something satisfying in being able to control your own created world or story. I love the feeling of empowerment.
  • Some readers have told me they fell in love with Sehun more reading my stories since I write more about him than anything. That really brights my day.
