Jinki's condition in The (Expensive) Cure to a Broken Heart

Alright, so as I’m about to post the 18th chapter of The (Expensive) Cure to a Broken Heart, I think a little explanation is needed as to what the extent of Jinki’s paralysis is. Some of my readers have asked me about it before, and so I had planned this little explanation on it.

Just a warning : First, I’d like to say that I am in NO WAY an expert on the subject. I was diagnosed with a pretty severe scoliosis at the age of 8 and had surgery when I was 15, so I’m not completely ignorant about all of this medical stuff, but that would be it. Some things that I say might be totally false, and I apologize for that. I’ve done some research on the subject, reading posts on forums and medical websites, and everything I’ve written in that fic about Jinki’s condition comes from that.

Also, I’m not a native English speaker and sometimes I try to explain things correctly but it just ends up being awkwardly said or not exactly correct, especially with all of this medical vocabulary. Anyway, I’m not completely at ease explaining this in English (especially since my fic was originally written in French) but I’ll try. Don't be offended by my choice of words. I beg you. And please, don't be offended if any of the things I say don't - in some way or another - correspond to the reality. I am no expert and this writing is clearly just fiction, even if I tried to make it as real as possible.

That was a long warning but it was necessary.

“If Jinki’s paralyzed, how can he have ?”

You gotta admit it’s a pretty legitimate question. And this is the question I've chosen to answer to.

Some of you may recall that - as I’ve (very) vaguely tried to explain in the first chapters - Jonghyun and Jinki don’t suffer from the exact same condition. While it may be impossible for Jonghyun to have normally, it may be possible for Jinki. Here’s why.

Both Jonghyun and Jinki had an accident in their youth (Jinki had a car accident involving him and his parents when he was around twenty years old, whereas Jonghyun had a motorbike accident when he was a bit older), and although they both suffered from spinal cord injuries, they both got affected to different degrees.

Jonghyun has paraplegia (a complete paralysis from the waist down) and doesn't have any sensations in his legs at all. He's paralyzed. He will never be able to have s except with medical assistance (from what I read, it is possible with an injection but there may be other techniques. Haven't looked up enough of it, seriously there is A LOT of possible information to find out about this.).

For Jinki, however, it isn't the same. Jinki has paraparesis (described in the dictionary as 'a condition of muscular weakness caused by nerve damage or disease; partial paralysis of the lower limbs'), and therefore can still feel to a limited extent. People with paraparesis are affected to different degrees as well, and some can even preserve their muscle tone and function (that's mainly what physiotherapy is for) while in case of complete paralysis, muscle tone is generally reduced. Now, about Jinki's ual life. Because yeah, that's the theme of his blog post. Obviously, a partial paralysis like his has consequences on his ual life. s are possible, but clearly not as 'easy' as people who don't suffer from any sort of paralysis. In some cases (maybe even in the case of paraplegia, I'm not sure though so don't take my word for it), psychogenic is possible. What's psychogenic ? It can be described as something which has a psychological origin rather than a physical one (that's the power of the mind, people), or in other - very unsophiscated - words: thinking about y stuff can get you boners. Without any physical stimulation. But having an because of physical stimulation is possible too, in some cases (it's a body reflex; you can get an without actually wanting to have one). Depends on the type of paralysis you suffer from. From what I've read on websites, getting it up is the easy part. What isn't as easy, however, is ing. I've read somewhere that some men can have but don't actually come, but it's a small percentage. Anyway, coming is a lot more complicated than having an and the stats about men suffering from a similar condition able to e are actually pretty low. But again, it depends. People are not affected the same way and every case is different.

So what's Jinki suffering from, exactly ? As I've said many times in this post, I'm no expert on the subject and everything I know, I know from forums and medical websites. I've chosen Jinki to be slightly less affected than most people, and still has a partial paralysis from the waist down but retains some sensations in his lower limbs. He can get an easily (he's effortlessly by Kibum, whether it's psychological or physical or both), but coming is still pretty hard for him. Whenever he and Kibum have , he pays more attention to pleasuring Kibum than pleasuring himself so he doesn't really mind not coming as long as Kibum doesn't mind either. That's one of his personality traits, though.

Is this clear or not ? I don't know if it is ! Sorry if it's not.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them. I'll do my best to answer them ! (^-^)
