　/ PEACH. she has a peachy aura tinged with a bit of something else. like SHE MAY SEEM SWEET AT FIRST BUT SHE REALLY ISN'T. her aura glows with a peachy hue but there's something off about it on the inside, a dull patch that may be rotting. it's like picking a peach that looks beautiful and furry on the outside but in reality, it's hiding many bruises within. 　/ the kangs are one of the first to be thought of when property (investment, ownership, etc) is bought up.
　/ they used to live solely in south korea, but that changed with megan's grandfather, kang jiyook
　/ jiyook went on a business trip to northeast china with his father where he fell in love with a woman he met randomly named hwang huiyu who comes from a long line of koreans born in china (there are rumours amongst the kang elites that she's from north korea.)
　/ anyway, she wasn't really well off and jiyook defied many people by bringing her into the bloodline. he stayed with her in china and it only took a year or two before they married each other and had a son, kang songjin.
　/ the kang elites didn't want to pass the inheritance to just anyone and despite him 'tainting the bloodline', jiyook was still first in line for it following his father's death.
　/ he invested in plenty of properties in china, expanding the wealth. sadly, he died early on from cancer and the inheritance was passed to songjin, megan's father.
　/ songjin, from a young age, was running the business and managing everything impeccably. he grew up quickly, to say the least, and came leaping back to the other kang elites to guide him. they saw that leaving him in china was a great move for them all financially, so he stayed put. they also arranged a marriage for him with bang jiyeon, from an equally influential family.
　/ they had a daughter, megan, but due to their hands being tied by so much work, they left her to be babysat by songjin's mother, huiyu. the grandma-granddaughter duo grew close.
　/ megan, only a young child, was always excited whenever her parents returned home following business trips and would excitedly tell them what she did with her friends and her thoughts about the world. they shut her down immediately, calling her stupid for not having good grades at school due to her being more focused on friendships  
　/ huiyu was the only one who really listened to megan and didn't think of her childhood thoughts/opinions as stupid. she didn't disregard anything her granddaughter said, and it was only around her that megan was able to voice her emotions.
　/ huiyu unfortunately fell gravely ill when megan was about ten years old. on her deathbed, she called megan "miyeon", telling her she loved her and giving her a book of her artworks that she said kept her sane when her husband's family was hellbent on controlling every little thing she did.
　/ songjin and jiyeon saw this as a great opportunity for megan to finally focus on schoolwork and began to homeschool her. her grades improved and they were satisfied. it was about this point when megan started to change a bit, and with no one to share her thoughts with (no one who would judge her, anyway), became very closed-off and interested in playing the perfect daughter.
　/ she also began to draw after being influenced by her grandma's artworks.

creative genius. 
　/ megan is interested in drawing with a good ol' sketchpad and pencil or pen. she gains inspiration every time she's stressed and can't sleep at night, or when she's just left alone to actually contemplate her own thoughts. megan never colours any of her artworks. the furthest she'll go is through shading/sketching with graphite from the pencil. she's into realism, where the subject matter is reflected truthfully -- she even admits to herself that it's so different from her way of thinking where she manipulates everything, but i guess it's sincerity is what draws her to it.
　/ line art. megan particularly likes line art. her delicate and frail mindset can be reflected through it, so i guess it's like she's adding her own personal touch to a blank canvas. her drawings are very simple and everything is connected by one line. if doing line art, one drawing is done in one sitting. she can't let the pen go at all. her line art preference reflects the fine thread that connects her to everyone. it's just one line holding together everything. delicate and frail, that she'll do anything to keep hold of it.
　/ still life. she draws what she sees. no alteration or manipulation. whatever's in front of her is translated onto the page. that's all. there's no inspiration for these artworks, really. she's just capturing a moment in time as it passes her by.

　/ her grandmother's artbook was gifted to her upon her deathbed, and it contained various artworks through mulitple mediums.
　/ art connects her to her grandma, which is pretty much why she likes it.
　/ she began by painting but she was so frustrated when she couldn't properly translate the image she was thinking of in her mind onto the canvas in front of her. it was then that she decided to try drawing it out before painting. when she drew, it was like the world around her disappeared. it was just her and what she was drawing. when she completed something and was about to paint over it, she stopped. it was complete enough as it was, and it was so easy for her to just get everything out of her mind onto the page. from there, a passion for drawing developed.

　/ her grandma is her favourite, but megan also enjoys artworks by andy warhol, john d herz, gustave doré, picasso, georgia o'keeffe and henri matisse.

SCENE 1. KANG SONGJIN

"what are you doing tomorrow?"

megan looks up at her dad momentarily before her eyes flit about anxiously. she takes a deep breath.

"i'm meeting up with minhyuk and the others."

songjin nods. "make sure you put in a good word for our company. don't say anything stupid."

he walks off and megan lets out the breath she was holding. she sinks into the seat, almost letting her guard slip before he walks back into her room. immediately, she straightens up, her back parallel to the wall.

"have fun." songjin smiles slightly but it looks more like a grimace.

 

SCENE 2. two-faced at its best

the phonecall she was expecting finally arrives. she waits for a moment or two before picking up. "hello?" the reply comes almost immediately.

"hana's such an a$$. she can't just do that!" the voice on the other end is high and distraught.

"i know. she's so stupid," megan replies. 

later, she gets a phonecall from hana. "hello?"

"jungmi just needs to stop. nobody even likes her. i can't believe she said that to me."

"i know. what's she even thinking?" when she hangs up later, megan gnaws on her lip. hopefully neither of the girls will bring her into their next argument.

 

SCENE 3. going with the crowd

"so we're doing it?"

"yep, we're doing it."

murmurs of agreement surround megan. she's not really sure if she wants to do it but everybody else is so she should probably join in.

"megan?" eyes turn to her. she nearly panics but calms herself down immediately. it takes a split second for her to school her face into happiness.

she laughs. "of course i'm in." 

cheers erupt all around, glasses are held up high as they all begin scheming. megan joins in, high-fiving her friends and sipping her alcohol. once again, she made the right decision.

megan sits in front of the mirror. what sort of person even is she?

it's only here, by herself, that she allows her thoughts to be heard. 

no. she firmly shakes her head.

her friends all like her. her parents approve of her. that's all she needs and she needs to ensure that it'll always be that way.

she knows what she needs to do to. a sly smile appears on her face as she meets her own eyes in the mirror. the coldness in them no longer startles her.
