as jian was aging into his teen years, his half-brothers were heading out of college and advancing their careers in the business world, preparing to take over parts of kangtel. now it was jian's turn to learn from his father just what it took to run the family business and let's just say jian would of rather sold socks on the side of the road than own a hotel.
at age fifteen, jian had had it with the business talk. he did everything in his power to delay his arrival home and even decrease the amount of time he spent at home all together. so what did he do? he got involved in school. extraciricular activities always lasted way into the evening after school, and he could use the excuse that it'd look good on a college application - if anyone at home asked. so what exactly did he get involved in? the baseball team. his friends were on the team and before, jian never really paid much attention to it, but if it meant staying away from home, he was dead set on it.
at age eighteen, jian had become known throughout the whole school as the star player on the team. jian and his teammates were always together and causing a bit of chaos - in and out of school. this new form of fame blew up jian's ego like a balloon. he lived for the fans chanting his name in the last inning of the games - but always wished his father would support him as much as the strangers did.
a few months later, his father caught gave him an ultimatum: either straighten up, learn the ropes and go to college or live the rest of his days as a penny-less street walker with his mother. it flipped jian's world upside down. he didn't understand why he had to follow these rules if his two brothers were already running the business.
as he entered college, jian went into business like his brothers before him, and as his father wanted. he wasn't going to be the reason his mother was kicked out of the house - she only wants her son to be happy and swore they would be okay if he went against his father. his mother's words aside, he figured that he would play the good son at home and everything outside those doors was free game. he would soon be making his own large sums of money, and support his mother by himself.

jian's college life is an even balance of partying and not doing any homework. okay, so he does some homework, but only for the classes he likes i.e his sports classes. the rest of his classes, he uses his extra cash to pass. you'll see him on campus or sneaking around the library bribing other students to do his homework for him.
when he's not persuading students to do his homework, he's persuading the females around campus to go on a date with him. he uses his good looks, ego and his position as captain of the baseball team (even though he isn't) to reel them in - and if he doesn't, he's pulling out every cringey pick-up line he has to get them to say 'yes'.

taeho, a twin of jian. he eludes charm, is always talking way too loud and enjoys a good prank. these two s**ts are partners in crime since middle school. they're always together. like creepy, attached-at-the-hip togther, they're even in the same major.
you could consider taeho a 'bad influence' and now together in college, he is a bad influence. he always brings up the idea to start a party at norwin and encourages jian to hit on everything that moves because "we're hot and we know it". together, they're loud an obnoxious, but they always make class more enjoyable.

"hey, i heard that you're the girl from that movie. how about we make our own movie *wink wink*" gross. when jian and dabin first met, you already know he tried to
hit on her. being polite, dabin nicely shut him down and hoped to not run into him again. but as jian is jian, he would 'coincidentally' show up and continue his quest to get dabin to go out with him. it's safe to say that dabin's sarcastic side came out each time this boy came around.
after a while, dabin and jian grew close to each other and now they're the two friends that constantly diss one another. the highlight of their relationship is that jian is a distraction from dabin's stressful major. she'll call him up just to hear him ramble on about how he made out with the hot exchange student, or be his plus one to a party (where things get too wild and dabin ends up passed out drunk).

ditzy, endearing, innocent, naive, optimistic,
"you make it easy to catch your balls when we play together!" cue the rest of jian's team laughter track. sojung is the definition of naive. she thinks everyone's intentions are truthful and doesn't pick up their heavy sarcasm. when jian and sojung first met, it was because she offered to help with his homework (even though she had no idea on the subject) after he had failed at getting his usual supplier to agree to help. safe to say it didn't take jian long to realize that this girl would do anything to help if he worded it right - thanks to her big heart.
sojung's friends sat her down when they saw her hanging around him, and practically lectured her on how much of a snake jian was. the result was jian shooting them down and arguing about how good of a person he was. if it wasn't for him, sojung would of died by now. a little exaggerated, but hey, he keeps the creepy guys away from her at parties - same thing right?
the baseball(s) team : various : 18-24
the boys have a running bet on who can embarass one another the most. so far, taeyang is winning when he locked taeho, who was clothed in only a towel, outside of the locker room. the usually confident and charming
boy was a nice red tint as he scurried off to the nearest bathroom.
on the field, these boys have a one-minded connection and are always working together to secure their win. off the field, they're running through the campus causing some mischief. if the school dean didn't think they were angels (thanks to their family donations), all these boys probably would be expelled by now.
the 'mommy' in mommy dearest : kang minjae : 45 mother/housewife
caring, compassionate, humble, push-over, quiet
minjae has always wanted what was best for her son - as does every mother. the downside is that she is torn between wanting her son to run a big business to be
well-off in his life, and for him to do what he loves - risking his future.
not very vocal in her opinions, she stays to just encouraging her son to do what will make him happy and swears she'll be okay with his choices - even if she is not. jian and his mother have a very loving relationship, and he often calls her while at school to make sure she is doing well. a true mommy's boy.

what are your thoughts on being chosen to participate in the end of year show? it's okay, you can be honest. he goes quiet for a moment and then starts to speak. honestly? the interviewer nods, motioning him to continue. jian smiles wide. i'm gonna do great. i bet i'm going to be the best part of the whole thing. i just hope that whosever recording this thing gets my good side.
please be completely honest here. do you think that you fit into society? he snorts. of course i don't fit in. i'm all about the risk taking and having fun and playing baseball. you remember that 2016 phrase "do it for the vine." - Me. jian breathes in and then lowers his voice. my father wants me to run a hotel business - how boring does that sound? seriously.
do you want to fit in? don't i already? he joked, giving a soulless laugh. personally, i don't care about fitting in, but i have to for the sake of my mother. i have to do what gives her a good life until i can give her a good life on my own.
