Voice

Well, let's talk about kdrama Voice, that's airing now n will finish soon, shall we? this is like the only drama i'm interested in at the moment...though it seem so far from perfect. (sorry Hyungsik, as much as i want to root for ZE:A boys...when it comes to choosing dramas...my main factor is heroine/actress - which means i'll probly not get interested in Siwan's next drama too, since....Yoona...ugh-...yesss n too much fluffy cuteness is kinda...boring to me...maybe i'm just not in the mood...)

it's kinda weird that i'm talking bout drama i'm not even watching other than little cuts here n there...but let's say...i have a good amount of...interest?

it first got into my radar bcuz of Lee Hana...an actress somehow hated by quite a number of international kdrama fans at a popular site i follow....idek why (it's not like she's bad actress like /insert names of boring/bad actresses who keep getting lead roles)...i've had favourable opinion of her since...idk when...idek what's her first drama i watched if ever...but it feels like i've been having pleasant opinion for quite long already...what i can vaguely remember is...she does music too n she just seem likable and has the vibe that i like...i guess...

so long story short...Voice is a thriller crime drama...which...i feel could've been so much better(i didn't watch but follow the recaps closely n upon my growing interest...i've been catching up cuts here n there...)...the story...or rather...the execution just has too many flaws but for the good things...i feel the need to stand by this drama n maybe sometime later...watch it all (when i have enough internet bandwith to spend...or when i can find a dvd box or sth to buy)

Major draw for me, is the heroine-Kwon Joo played by Lee Hana, who has super hearing ability n works at cops call center...but no, the super hearing is not the major draw...but the fact that she's the boss of her team. a cool, calm level headed boss who has this weary beaten look (somehow reminds me of Chief Oh in Misaeng)...what? a heroine...a lady...who doesn't always look perfectly pretty no matter in what condition? well, granted, she didn't look bad at all...but she has this sombreness in her eyes, her face and demeanor that's not expressed loudly but you just get that gloomy feel from her without her having to make sad face though she is serious most time if not all....n the fact that she has wall of investigation at her house where she analyze the big case she's investigating on her own (about her father's killer)...now, you can't tell me such a heroine is not attractive. nope. no freaking way. the only thing that's missing is she's more about brains n not some kickass badass which would've make her perfect if she has those qualities but she's a call center cop anyway so i guess...it's understandable...somehow kdrama must make the ladies not-as-badass-physically(nope, don't bring in Do Bong Soon/Park Bo Young....different genre ey)...okay there might be some exception cases...but i'm saying this generally...but what's even more rare...is having the lady holding the power, being the boss...and not the usual loud shrilly snob one or the ditzy clumsy detective we often see...but the calm, sharp and quite badass(albeit not physically) one...that's so rare...n having an actress i like playing the character only adds icing on the cake...i just wish the dialogues would be better...because her actions n everything is already spot on...but sometimes the dialogues are too draggy n makes her feel kinda.....out of character/not so great? they could've cut her boring dialogues and make her more quiet n mysterious cuz she's busy 'listening' instead of talking n talking sappy pointless things that seems to be major problem with characters in this drama....more on that later...

Major drawback for me...is the hero-Jin Hyuk(so far, no loveline yet...the hero is just a cop wanting to avenge his wife's death)...played by Jang Hyuk who, does have reputation for being able to overact sometimes(?)...but i don't think that's the problem here. The problem is....his character is described as 'mad dog'...loose canon badass all brawns kinda cop you know?...but the thing that bothers me is...he talks big talks too much without doing/proving (This scene to be precise///see, even the baddie noticed it). while maybe that's part of being a 'mad dog'...it kinda...makes the character nothing mroe than just typical stereotype of that kinda character. compare his character to one of these two versions of 'mad dog':

1. A cop known as 'mad dog'. he doesn't talk much but has impulsive violent reaction tendency that has gotten him in troubles. it's not something he control consciously. this thing can happen due to trauma blabla or death of beloved one blabla like the usual drama characters...but the point is his characteristics.

2. A cop known as mad dog because he has the tendency to 'bark' uncontrollably. As in, he has this sort of anger issues that makes him talks a lot....swears, curse, threatens, in general...talks...wayyy too much. to the point of endangering lives n his job. bcuz he just can't keep quiet...so situations like accidentally leaking information uninhtentionally upon his occassional outbursts...or making it harder to not be noticed by bad guys cuz he's too loud...idk...any of those problem...

Compare those two types with the character Jin Hyuk in the drama...doesn't the drama character feel too....typical melodrama character who has reputation as 'mad dog'...but doesn't really show much of a 'mad dog'...and is quite tame....especially compared to the main bad guy. Nothing against Jang Hyuk really...it's just a shame his character is kinda....tired n boring methinks.

Now, the major X-factor of this drama, i think lies in the psychotic bad guy(Tae Gu) played by Kim Jae Wook (n is it just me or Kim Jaewook here/Taegu looks a little like younger, thinner ver of Kim Raewon? lol...or at times, Jung Kyung Ho?...maybe it's just my eyes deceiving me?). Who doesn't love a psycho? uhhh...ok....Cmon, you can't say a young, rich, good looking psychotic creepy bad guy is not enough pull to make you watch(even though his violence....is more mad dog than mad dog...lol despite his impeccable manners and appearance). Although i'm starting to wonder if psycho characters are one of the easiest roles to shine in. Bcuz i've seen so many actors praised when they play psychotic role. Heck, i'd say Siwan's best role was his bordering evil psychotic in Equator Man. Despite only appearing as the teen version in the first few episodes, Siwan actually made me feel a crazy mix of dilemma when he's transitioning from his cold to good to lured by evil to delirious...he achived to show something i rarely see from killers in drama....he showed the aftermath of killing...he showed that killing isn't an easy thing...it brought a great sense of disturbance that as much as we hope coming from guilt...it's more on fear maybe with a pinch of guilt on his side...he brought so much nuance to his portrayal...too bad all the adult version of all the main characters fell so flatly black n white n just boring compared to the teenage versions of the characters(although Lee Hyun Woo was pretty much just the nice guy without much depth other than being nice too as a teenage...i thought Park Se Young did good too...somehow the drama failed with making the good guy/girl interesting...at least for me...and when they turned adult...all of them became even less impressive...oh well...it was good while it lasted...)...

Okay...back to Kim Jae Wook's character....i was so curious bout his character, that it caused me to go watch the cuts that features him....see? that watch factor. somehow...i'm not sure if it's cuz i just watch bits n pieces here and there....as good as he is...i'm not sure if it's the writing/directing/acting/editing...but i feel...it could've been better...like...i want to be really scared by him...he did a lot of gore nasty creepy things in the drama ...but i want moreee....(haha)....like...instead of smiling smugly/smirking to the hero n heroin(who he knows are catching on that he's the killer of their wife/father)...i think a kind/innocent smile would be creepier(though tohis credit, he did seem a lot creepier when he has this almost innocent-like fond expression like when he's thinking of Kwonjoo or watching Jinhyuk's son at the hospital). this smugness is too in yo face n not seeming very...matured? okay...maybe it's cuz his character is sort of childish(overgrown twisted chaebol stuck in adults body but with 9 year old kid devil mental?)...like...when he got so excited jumping up and down like a kid before he suppressed his joy, when he broke into the heroine's house and found that she dedicated a wall for his crimes(without knowing his identity of course)...it's like...he grew up so unloved that he got so excited at the thought of having a 'fan', the thought of being hunted...curious? here...

you're welcome.

Still i kinda wish for a bit more complexity n nuance in his already twisted character...

(^ sth you can watch to see how creepy/messed up our resident psycho is)

I'm trying to overlook at the flaws and weak points of the drama bcuz the good points are so good...and mostly come from the actors/characters which may be a good thing since if i care to know what happens to them...i'd follow through the end. (and idk...the gore in this drama maybe a bit too much for many...but i like it...the more twisted/creepy the better...at least in context...it keeps me on the edge...i only hate gore when it's done for the sake of it n not really necessary like in music videos? huh...) Another thing that keeps this drama interesting is...all the corruption and the moles in the police station...like...suspects left and right...no one the hero n heroine can really believe other than each other.

The dynamics between our heroine and the resident creep psycho murderer is so interesting that i often forgot about our hero. it's a shame that it feels like the drama is trying to make his backstory more central...though i hope they're just getting his wife's story out of the way to focus on our heroine's battle for the last two episodes coming up...bcuz she's the one who took the initiative to set up the team, investigate the deaths and even leads in all cases with her super hearing and even when they finally confront the baddie...she has the lead of knowing right away that he's the killer. our hero mostly feel just like someone to do the physical works in fighting bad guys and saving victims in our heroine's team she handpicked on her own.

In fact, i feel guilty to our hero's fans...but i won't mind if the drama ends with he died while the baddie is alive so that maybe they can have a second season with our heroine continue to go after the baddie...our hero feels too sappy for a mad dog and the show i think has really high ratings among OCN dramas(so...i'm not the only fan of the gore it seems haa...)so why not a second season/dragging it longer? :p ...if they want to keep jang hyuk in the drama...they can reincarnate him as a different character altogether....idk...like a lookalike guy the heroine cast to confuse the baddie...wouldn't that be interesting? mad dog is too standard a character without no addition to make him interesting anyway methinks.

Maybe i'm just delusional...lol. i just want more scenes of our heroine with baddie...there's undeniable chemistry even with limited scenes together. i don't care if it's twisted sick romance/obsession or just plain cat n mouse game...maybe i just want her to kick his on her own...given his reaction at having a 'fan' in her, i think he'd be honoured and happy.

Go for it, Voice 2! xD

okay, i'm hoping for too much lol....i just hope the ending would be satisfying....n not in any predictable way. please let our heroine kick some serious  in the final hour, PDnim (preferably please let her defeat the enemy that made her suffered years on her own...i mean, this is mostly about her battle...she's the boss...let the boss be boss for once...although the hero has his own vengeance with the baddie too regarding his wife....but cmon...the heroine has done/sacrificed/went through so much to get him....let her arrest/kill him on her own n make her dad proud. besides...that chemistry...n how the killer is so pleased to get her attention...while his interest in Jin Hyuk doesn't seem to be more organic to make it as interesting...but it looks to me like they're still gonna focus on Jinhyuk till the end...don't tell me the final battle will involve jin hyuk's son...that'd be kinda...predictable...-_-....)

Okay. done. now, can anyone write me a thriller/creepy fic with Tae Gu n Kwon Joo? romance or not... whatever sick relationship/dynamics...i don't care. their dynamics/chemistry is just... interesting(and i'm glad i'm not the only one suddenly shipping them lmao from reading comments in yt n dramasite)....Jin Hyuk? well...i can just ship him with Dae Shik(his sidekick in the drama)

well, lol...all clips i shared involve Taegu...i guess he is fascinating n could be a major reason to watch.

any Kwonjoo-Taegu shipper wanna spazz? (lol...the thought of shipping them feel so wrong...though Taegu'd be so happy...then...should i say Lee Hana-Kim Jaewook? haha....)

Anyway....produce 101 is back yall....though it's kinda boring with so many debuted idols joining eh....looks like their fangirls will all make oppars rise to the top n boring...no surprise...please prove me wrong n give chances to the boys according to talent or anything other than must support oppar no matter what kinda sentiment...n already i can foresee bts fans will just bring them up in every ep for oppar being friend/taking pic with that long haired guy(whom i suspect will get to at least top 35 or even top 11...he seems so popular n unconventional lol....it's refreshing lol...but i'm just tired of being forced to see bts in comments everywhere for whatevercrap reason...although that probly happens in like 90% yt videos in general...for them to 'have legit reason' like being friend(wow...so legit n relevant)...would be even more annoyingly unavoidable...ugh like stahhhp it...this brainwash by bts fans only work in reverse way with me...instead of making me like their oppar...it only make me freaking annoyed all the time.
