Injustice for newbies

I felt like I have been wronged just now. I found a story. And I loved it! I subscribed into eat, read it, and fell in love. I had soo much feels and I want the author to know tha I relly appreiate the story. I reall have the strong urge to click UPVOTE! Only to find out I cant! Can't a newbie and oldie be given equal rights to apreciate a story? Why? Why?

I agree with what the other user said. You maybe leave some comments in your friend's blog or even other's blog and earn some karma points. And leaving a comment on a story you read would really make the day of most authors.

Is this about the karma points needed? If so, there is a reasonable justification - if any new account could upvote, upvote spamming and fraud would be much easier. That is why 25 karma points are needed, and you can get them rather quickly through commenting on stories and blogs. The author of this story would probably appreciate your comment a lot!
