TO REPORT OR TO NOT REPORT? (EDITED)

Okay, so yesterday I was looking for a Sehun fanfic to read and I found one. It caught my attention because it's the same title of the book I'm currently reading. Now, when I clicked on the story, the description comes out and it's the exact same description in the back of the book I have with me. I thought, hey maybe the author's inspiration is the very same book (although I was playing stupid because I hoped the author wasn't plagiarising such a wonderful book). I jump to the first chapter and it is exactly and I mean word-for-word like the book I'm reading. The user just changed the names from the original characters' names to Sehun and Suzy. What disgusted me was whent the author kept telling her readers how she can't update because her laptop is broken or that she was too busy to write. I'm like ????????? she literally copied everything, notepad has an option to find name and replace it all at once whAT DO YOU MEAN "WRITE"??????? I scanned through the comments to see if she mentioned about it being an actual book that she just copied and changed the names but I didn't see anything. Anyway, I felt responsible to report it so I did. AFF's moderator responded and took down the content immediately after providing them a report with the link of the actual book.

Now, checking the author's story page, I wanted to check if the content was really removed and to my surprise, 3 of her stories are actually copied from published books (books that I know exists because I attempted to read them before and are left hanging in my ibook app). Again, the names were changed and no credit was given to the rightful authors of the books. She even imposed that one of them was based on her real life experience. I don't know what the user's excuse for doing what she did, but I find it disgusting.

I started thinking about how the authors of the books would feel and imagine them being oblivious to others copying their work WORD-FOR-WORD without their permission and no credit. I mean it's one thing to have a published book as an inspiration and another to copy it all and just change the names. Why would you claim it yours if it isn't really yours to begin with? How can you accept your readers' compliments knowing full well you basically just changed the names of the characters to your desired artist?

My friend said she has seen a few works in AFF that are copied and pasted word-for-word and only had the names changed but the authors of these stories she found told their readers it was really copied and pasted from an actual book and gave the rightful authors proper credit.

Anyway, I'm now staring at the author's story page and wondering whether I should report them all or leave it be. TT

**edit**

Upon reporting 3/4 of the user's "work", AFF gave me a notice that she has already been banned due to violation of terms of service.

It's nice that it was solved so fast! But I am seriously concerned because here on AFF are a lot of stories that are against it's content guidlines, but when those get reported, the moderators seem to close the report with no response at all. And it's such questionable glorifying of that are really disturbing ):

sometime ago, i found a plagiarized story before with names changed and i found it because i got suspicious when the 'author' mixed up the names with unknown names in the story and even the character's appearance/physical description didn't fit in the idols used at all....took up the sentences to google and found the actual completed story written by some author at another site...i tried reporting but was told that only the original author can report....like -_-...so since i couldn't get in contact with the author(or maybe i'm just not determined enough)...and feeling upset by this act of stealing...i decided i need to at least expose them in front of their fans/readers...so i go commenting at the 'author's plagiarized works telling them to stop plagiarize and yeah pretty much expose them at their own fics...it's the least i could do and soon enough if i remember correctly their stories/account just disappeared. that i couldn't report properly but at least i got the job done. not sure if you'll be able to report as third party now...but good luck!

What the hell? Writing takes so much time and effort, I can't believe people can actually take other's work and claim it as their own like?? The real author could sue her if she/he knew

Report. It's fraud and against the copyright and spits at the readers feelings and a writers effort. People like that have no place on this site
