Heyo heyo Red Velvet fans (hopefully soon we will have a fandom name!) Apologies for the punny title... XD

So as you know, Red Velvet's Rookie was released at 12 AM KST today, and I'm sure you watched it. If not, don't worry because I linked the video... here's my review and opinion on the song, music video, and individual girls!

Song: 6/10 stars

Let's be real, Red Velvet has some really nice vocalists (Wendy, Seulgi, and Joy) and this song did NOT at all let them shine in the vocals. Here's my biggest pet peeve... "HIGH PITCHED TONE SPEAKING" This goes for the chorus "rookie rookie" and all the "rap" lines for Irene and Joy. The lines weren't raps or singing... it was this high pitched tone speaking. And the beginning with Irene's "rap" is really cringey tbh... she can rap, but this song does not let her shine. 

But I do have to say one thing.. it's catchy af.. "rookie rookie" although it sounds more like "lookie lookie." For the catchiness of the song I would give it a 8/10... only the chorus is catchy. The random rifts from Seulgi and Wendy during the chorus feel out of place as well. I think with this song, they were going for another "Dumb Dumb," but let's just say it's different.

Music Video: 8/10 Stars

WTF is the entire music video? XD I did really enjoy it, although it was really weird. It's a really colorful and unique music video and I give kudos for the unique shots and storyline. Here's my theory on the video:

Joy brings drugs or perfume or something and all the other girls are exposed to it. 

Yeri and Irene are immediately hit with (we'll call it the perfume).

However, Seulgi and Wendy are not really affected (at first).

Seulgi tries to fight it, but eventually succumbs to it when she opens the door and walks into a new "world."

Wendy is the last "normal" person. She tries to lead the girls out, but eventually succumbs to the new "world." Also, creepy Irene?

I think Joy was trying to contain all the craziness, hence her trying to close the doors to the other "world." But in the end, it all explodes.

(also.. does this not look like from One of These Nights when Irene was blown away by the water??)

And from here on out, I have no idea what's happening. All I know is that Irene is shady and in the end she might have been the one controlling them all, hence her being the puppeteer.

Concept and Individual Styling: 9.5/10 Stars

Everyone looks so adorable... my personal favorites are Irene's braided pigtails and Seulgi's "horn" hair. I'm really loving all the hair colors, they're subtle but pretty. And thank the heavens for no more cheeto hair XD

Overall: 7.83/10 Stars

0:00 - Ooh the beginning is the teaser! I love the vibrant colors! And to the people who say that Red Velvet has the same music, please watch this! 

0:17 - IRENE IS GORGEOUS! I just love the reddish hair in the braided pig tails. 

0:19 - Finally Irene gets to rap... oh nevermind, it's more like "speaking words in a high toned pitch" 

0:26 - Same with Joy. WTF, that's not rapping, that's not singing either... not a big fan of the high pitched tone talking. Also just wanted to say that I'm a huge fan of Joy's short hair, not that I mind the long hair.

0:27 - Huh? Is that some sort of drug that Joy is holding?

0:30 - Yep... it's drugs.

0:32 - ITS MY BABY SEULGI! Her red hair looks sooooo good. I'm still bitter over the cheeto hair from Russian Roulette.

0:40 - It's Wendy! Ooh, the dark navy hair color looks good on her as well. What is this song's obsession with "high pitched tone talking?"

0:48 - Seulgi being dragged into the closet is me being dragged into Red Velvet's charms XD

0:51 - So Irene wasn't behind Seulgi's closet... dang my poor Seulrene heart.
