ㅤ¿ㅤTHIS IS NGSY'S SYNTHESIST, JUNG SOOK

sook.VSCO.CO
STEP ONE.
full name. sook jung
other names.
AIDYN sook's american name. it was suggested by her uncle. he found out it meant 'fire', or 'little fire', and thought it was perfect for the young girl's passion for music, as did sook and her mom. and thus was born aidyn jung.
AHJUMMA sook may be the maknae of ngsy, but that doesn't say anything about her tendencies to make it obvious that she has the soul of an 80 year old. her ngsy members call her this for a variety of reasons - she owns her own pair of floral grandma pants, she grunts and groans everytime she gets up from her seat, she claps when she laughs, she pats the ngsy girls's butts, she nags her members to eat their vegetables ( then takes the meat for herself ). but as much as she's called this for demeaning reasons, it also takes on an affectionate tone when sook's compassionate side comes out and she watches out for her members and the little things they need. oh, but then - "sook sounds like some old lady's name".
GODDESS while the ahjumma nickname is for those who are actually close to sook, ( people like ngsy, ngsy, and did i mention ngsy? ) this one is for those on the opposite side of the spectrum. at school, sook has no close friends, and thus has an image built up on her looks and her looks only. she's a beauty - and a dangerous one at that. or at least that's what her classmates think. since she doesn't have close friends, sook doesn't talk much at school, and that combined with her face is enough to make her seem untouchable. they call her anyang's goddess, and it's not a detrimental term, but it does prevent anyone from approaching her and trying to get to know her.

date of birth. 22/11/1999 + 17
birthplace. anyang, gyeonggi-do, south korea
hometown. anyang, gyeonggi-do, south korea
ethnicity. korean
nationality. korean
languages.
KOR , 100% fluent she's grown up speaking korean as her first language.
ENG , 85% fluent if someone asked her, sook would say she's pretty above average in english. having lived in america for four years, it was inevitable to come back having learned the language. it actually came easier to her than she expected, and she's fairly comfortable speaking in it now - slipping it into her daily language and occasionally finding more fitting words in that language than in korean.
ORIENTATION. hetero
PRONOUNS. she / her / hers
STEP FOUR.
stage name. AIDYN it reminds her of the good days, and sook likes associating ngsy with good things.
position. synthesizer, backup vocal, composer
backup pos. bassist, backup vocal, lyricist
# experience. 1 yr keyboard, 8 yrs synthesizer
resumé. besides ngsy, sook's never done anything professional. she had a pretty big break as a child prodigy, thanks to her uncle letting 8 year old sook feature her keyboard skills in one of his sets. besides the small recognition, sook's never gone public otherwise, only ever having learned from personal connections such as mr. holt and her uncle.

[ revised answers with consideration of established relationships and the lawsuit ]

JW: what made you decide to join ngsy?
i mean, you guys were the ones who wanted me. she flips her hair. junwi glares at her and she laughs. but, really, ko, the question should be why i wouldn't. she looks up in reminiscence. when my uncle called and told me that you guys, you cool, rebellious, hipster people wanted me to do nothing but play music, it was...it was probably the best feeling in my life. i don't think i knew how much i myself loved music until that opportunity, so the idea was so eye opening - and then i just had to get in. i needed to. if i didn't get in to ngsy, i probably would've. like. killed myself. i don't know. she shrugs nonchalantly.

[ well - sook thinks about the question and realizes she overthought it, assuming it was made to attack her. she didn't really necessarily join, she was put in without choice, replacing bae yongwon, the former synthesist. but she doesn't make it about that - she goes back to the beginning, the very beginning. i don't see why i would have decided not to. she shrugs and looks at junwi, who blankly urges for more. i mean, you guys were the ones who came looking for me, so. she chuckles and playfully flips her hair. junwi gives her an exasperated look. but, really, the answer is pretty...obvious, ko ahjussi. of course i wanted to join ngsy - you guys were cool, old, free, music - loving people. my kind of people. why wouldn't i have wanted to? ]

jw: hm, what do you think of your skills? what makes you better than the rest? what can you offer ngsy?
my sKILLS?? she makes the rock and roll sign interrupting junwi who glares at her again. she's not deterred, but she puts her hand down and lets him continue. uh. ah, yeesh. i don't know. i'm pretty...cool. she shrugs and junwi gives her a pointed look. well, there's the fact that i've never had any professional training or classes or anything, but i can still catch on and keep up with you guys. like, not to be self-centered, but i'd be impressed at someone like myself heh. she smirks and places a finger gun under her chin. at junwi's blank expression, sook sighs and slouches, defeated. i don't know what makes me better than other people, okay. you guys are the ones who chose me, why can't you just answer this question. her eyes avoid junwi's, who is slightly surprised at the small vulnerability sook shows.

[ etc. ]

jw: (sighs) as you know, we debuted three years ago. how has the journey been? what has happened so far? do you see it as a good or bad experience?
well...lots of stuff has happened. sook carefully glances at junwi. but i think...i mean, in the long run, everything is a good experience. ngsy is probably one of the better ones...aaand definitely a longer one, but the, uh, what did you say? she snaps her fingers, trying to remember the question. journey! the journey's been...educational. she lets out a short, hesitant chuckle.

[ well...the journey's been...one heck of a ride, that's for sure. sook hesitantly chuckles, casting a careful glance at junwi. lots of stuff has happened, but i think ...you know, that everything in the long run is a good experience. everything can serve as something you can learn from and mature from and ngsy has been one of those experiences. *if not is right now.* she thinks. ]

jw: alright, (frowns) well i didn't plan this question... but if today i gave you the choice to leave ngsy, would you take it?
what? sook is bewildered, she's scared. her worries flood her, and she confuses the question with her own clouded thoughts, convincing herself that the question is a hint at the members wanting her to leave. the word 'choice' escapes her, and she feels attacked. but she instinctively pushes it away and regains control, inhaling and trying to pull it off as cool. this whole process is but a couple seconds, and it escapes junwi's eyes. of course not -- ngsy is like - it's like...it's my life. i may have gotten in through...er...unpreferred circumstances, but i'm not dumb enough to give it up.

[ etc. ]

jw: what do you wish for in the next year?
hmm...good, things i guess. i want ngsy to get the recognition we deserve and i want us to keep working hard and to keep having this passion for our music and for each other. i wish that we can grow closer and that i can...truly find my own role in this band and...well, in life. she gives junwi a small smile, who nods in acknowledgement.

[ etc. ]

jw: interesting. last question, are you close to any of the members?
uhm...yes? sook laughs, genuinely confused. of course we're close. you don't just drift away from the people who have willingly dealt with you during your pubescent mood swings. junwi scoffs, but it's not sarcastic. it's a scoff of agreement and fondness - or as much fondness as ko junwi can express.

[ well...yeah. she chuckles, quite confused. i'm definitely closer to some more than others, but everyone's been very caring and they always look out for me. having someone so young may be hard because they all feel like they have to look out for me - which they don't, but i really do, and always will appreciate every single ngsy member for that. junwi gives her a fond nod of agreement (or at least as fond as ko junwi could be) and sook cheekily grins at him. even you, ko ahjussi! ]
STEP THREE.
personality.

her right leg folded up on the seat, her left leg sprawled carelessly in the other direction. dean's half moon plays in the background. her elbow resting on her knee, she excess yogurt off the lid and sprinkles biodegradable sunflower seeds out the car window. the wind blows through her hair, but she can barely feel it through the thermal she wears under her denim applique jacket. her long, black locks flare around her. she looks like a lion. she is a lion. fierce, protective, king of her own jungle.

(+) REASONABLE, CONSIDERATE, QUICK WITTED, OPEN MINDED
(-) APATHETIC, STUBBORN, BLUNT, COMPETITIVE
(?) OBSERVANT, INSIGHTFUL, INDEPENDENT, PASSIONATE

majime (n.) an earnest, reliable person who can simply get things done without causing drama.
sook may be young, but she's matured quickly, thanks to all the old men around her teaching her life experiences, surrounding her with reality, life lessons, and cigarettes. she's had a very conceptive mind since a young age and has therefore grown to be very open minded. she's very culturally and opinionatively awakened and as a result of all the different perspectives she has, is quite the reasonable voice, being able to give her take on things and be listened to. she takes everything into consideration when it comes to problems that need to be solved, even her own faults, and is usually never unfair. her quick thinking comes in handy, as well. she reacts well to situations, usually knowing what to do and wanting to do it. sook has a compassionate nature and loves helping people, always looking out for her ngsy members and making sure they're taking care of themselves, doing so herself if they aren't. many of her acquaintances are older than her, due to her high maturity levels, but she's still 17, and she's got a long way to go.

abditory (n.) a place into which you can disappear.
high maturity levels doesn't mean nonexistent immaturity levels. sook still has lots of things to learn - she's quite stubborn, pretty blunt, slightly opinionated. she used to get into quite a lot of trouble with her parents for being so sharp-tongued, but she's fixed it and has turned out to only be blunt in saying what she deems is absolutely correct. the way she's fixed it, however, has come with some consequences. getting rebuked by her parents for making others uncomfortable with her words didn't make sook feel good, and she hated dissappointing her parents, and she hated herself, and she hated getting in trouble, and she hated not feeling good. sook tended to get these feelings a lot, though - whenever she got criticized for one thing, it'd bring back everything like a flood, and she'd drown in her distress over not being a good daughter and not being able to be fully angry at her parents and not being able to get over it like a normal person. her want to get rid of these feelings were so intense, and she continued to just not think about her problems - she habitually pushed them away and buried them immediately upon confronting them, and they're just there inside her, piling up in the cavern of her mind, the dam in her heart. she's scared of it overflowing, of it getting out of hand, especially with ngsy, who makes her slightly more problematic since she becomes so in love with them. she exposes her competitive, prideful side, and easily grows distaste for anyone who badmouths them. this is probably where her immaturity shows the most, but it's because she can't handle the criticism on all of them and it's harder to bury it away when she sees the toll it takes on all of them.

livsnjutare (n.) one who loves life deeply and lives it to the extreme.
ngsy is a huge part of sook's passion - they give her music, love, family, life. they've had so many reckless adventures and are like the epitome of freedom to sook. but as much as they exposed her to an early adult environment, they took care of her the same amount - ngsy's little tol baby. yet she grows up to be heavily independent, loving and acknowledging how much they care for her, but desiring the ability to also take care of herself. she mistakes this as keeping her problems to herself, which is consequential of her burying them away, and many of the members want her to open up, but it's definitely gonna take a while. especially since she's always wanting the others to open up, instead. she may not seem like the type to put others before her, but she's extremely observant and insightful and catches on to things rather quickly and is quite dependable. and loud. and energetic. and hyper. despite all these things going on deep down inside of sook, you can't ignore her surface personality. she's one of the louder ones of ngsy, the type to not need alcohol to have fun. she gets excited easily and has lots of needs to dance in public, be it little shoulder wiggles when she sees good food, or a solo club scene when they're practicing. she's quite the moodmaker, succeeding in making them laugh often and laughing at them herself. this is the image ngsy sees about 98% of the time, and sook thinks that's all they need to see.

timeline.
1999 jung sook is born. her full name translates to quiet, but she's anything but. she was a loud baby, but not just because she cried. music seemed to be her thing, ever since the womb - she was always dancing and squealing along to it, hitting upside down buckets and using spoons as mics. her parents had always thought it was just cute, but they never imagined it growing to become her life passion. music continues to have influence over sook's life. her parents raise her well and are, ultimately, loving, but parents will be parents. sook's music is consistent. it continues to stay by her side, to keep her going, to give meaning to what she does.

2007 soon, it is what she does. at the measly age of 8 years old, sook finds an interest in doing things with music other than simply listening, specifically the keyboard. it probably would've been a piano if it weren't for her uncle, the lead singer and keyboardist of his own rock band. sook finds it weird, yet bittersweet to look at a grand piano, as it signifies the very first seed she planted in her career. she wonders how different life would be if she had chosen that path, but she doesn't regret anything. sook is hugely inspired by her uncle and looks up to him for many reasons - he teaches her everything he knows, takes her with him to concerts, features her in his performances. he basically raises her, which no one knows is a cause or effect of the fact that sook's own dad has started to slack off in being a family man. sook's mom has made a big break in her business and is right around the corner from a promotion, but instead of being congratulatory, sook's dad has seen this as his own big break - his chance to kick back and relax. sook has a big break as a child prodigy, thanks to her uncle letting her perform alongside him and his bandmates. she befriends the middle-aged men, who teach her even more and show her what a lifestyle of music is like. sook loves it, but the fun and games, as well as her little burst of fame, is short-lived. the promotion that sook's mom is looking at would mean she'd have to spend time in america to take over a branch there. odds and ends work out and sook ends up going to america with just her mom, her dad lazily promising to maintain a steady income in korea by himself.

2008 a few months before her 9th birthday, sook and her mother arrive in america. sook is signed up for english classes, and her mother has already been learning due to the business. they accustom rather well - sook finding a good community and her mom continuing to excel at her work. the problem was, sook felt like she had been torn away from her music lifestyle back with her uncle and his bandmates, and a little voice in her head, the same one that had told her going to america would be fine, was starting to yearn for the keyboard again. the way her fingers glided along the keys, the steady flow of the notes - music stores that sold guitars and pianos called out to her, street performers pulled her in, a man introduced her to a synthesizer. he owned one of those music stores, and sook had become a regular, coming in to simply admire and keep him company. one day, he encourages her to play something on the keyboards she looks so longingly at, and then tells her he has something for her. from his back room, he pulls out an old synthesizer. "aidyn, do you love music?" sook eagerly nods her head, "of course." the man gives her a small smile. "to synthesize means to produce sounds electronically. it also means to combine a number of things into a coherent whole. i can see you bringing people together in unity through your music, through your synthesizing." sook was touched to unexplainable extents. "are you giving this to me?" the man nods. "i used to be all about this when i was younger. but seeing your talent and my age, it seems a waste to keep it as just an artifact in the back." it doesn't seem like a coincidence that randy newman's "you've got a friend in me" is playing in the background.

2012 his name is mr. blake holt. the single old man and the little girl become good friends. he's like sook's uncle, but an american version. he teaches her everything he knows about music and english and life and loves her like the daughter he never had. sook's mother is eternally grateful to the old man for taking so much care of sook and making her smile again. sook is only 13, but she's experienced life and music like never before, here in the land of golden opportunities. america is great and synthesizing is great and sook plans to go into college here in the states, majoring in music and composition - something else she's found a knack for. but her plans are interfered with by a call from all the way across the world. her uncle tells her that he's been contacted by a man named ko junwi. a man who saw a certain video from 5, 6 years ago. a man who noticed the tall, yet little looking girl and the passion she had for what she was doing. a man who foresaw what she could become, a man who didn't mind if she was still 8 years old, we want her.

2013 they call themselves ngsy, and a majority of them are already confirmed by the time little sook comes into play. she's only 14, and she's had to deal with so many changes these past few months. her mom's business in america had coincidentally come to an end around the same time ngsy called for her, so the duo had moved back to korea. it was hard for sook to part with the small handful of friends she had made, especially mr. holt, but when he heard what was in store for her back in korea, he was ecstatic, making her promise to mention him in her award winning speech. sook and her mother return home to find sook's dad in anything but a better position. he reveals that he's been fired from his job at a telemarketing company and has almost put their family in debt. sook's mom ends up being the only money maker in the family, and while it's hard on her, she still takes the time to fully support sook and her music. sook's dad - not so much. he becomes even lazier and slumps around the house, bashing on sook's dreams, refusing to do anything about some noodle shop he throws around, complaining that his daughter should be working harder to succeed intellectually while he hypocritically watches football on the couch. sook takes all the insults and continues to pursue her dream as a musician.

2016 sook is 17, looking into a new year with her best friends, her life partners. ngsy has been through a lot and she has been through a lot, but they've all come out - maybe not on top, but together. the other members take care of their youngest well, teaching her life lessons and being there with her to live out experiences. they make her try soju and rice wine and alcohol and all the above, because "better us than some strange man on the street". they make fun of 'predebut' sook, banging away on a keyboard at age 8. they sneak her out of the house at 1am, soju bottles in one hand and money for spicy rice cakes in the other. they act like her bodyguards, growling at any boy who glances at the visual maknae. they bring her home by nine, well fed and smiling. they pat her on the back, listening to her rant about her dad. they love her, they care for her, they've made her who she is today.

2017 so i'm going to jump to conclusions ( ha-cha-cha! ) and assume that ngsy goes through rough patches, such as disbanding and/or issues at city hall ??!! if this happens, here is information about sook and the effect on her. ever since the beginning, sook's been in love with ngsy. they were so free, so independent, so...her. she fell into an intense front of pride and protectiveness over all the members and the group in general - with reason, of course. sook was in the prime of her teen years ( yes, puberty ) as she performed and practiced and played with ngsy. she was the little girl they had to bring back home at 9pm, the one they had to restrain from being too wild around, the one who could've been a burden. instead, they took care of her, loved her, raised her, taught her. sook learned so much about music and teamwork and life thanks to them, the first true friends she ever had. she had such a strong attachment to them, but when things came crashing down on them, she became confused. everyone in ngsy was always so strong and bold, but sook was able to see the broken sides of a majority of them, and she didn't know what to do anymore. there were so many emotions running through her mind and the mixed feelings ended up resembling apathy. but while she was feeling blank and empty, other members were distressed over the happenings, or trying their best to mend things up. it made sook question her own dedication to ngsy, and as happy as she was when they all got back together, she continued to wonder. she not only questioned her loyalty, but her talent, her ability. she was still young, in both skill and age, and she started feeling like a bigger burden, being the only minor of the group. all these things distressed sook, little 17 year old sook, the adjunct of ngsy, and she's yet to confront her thoughts, much less overcome them.

trivia.
ONE her laugh is quite, er, rare. she laughs with her whole body, throwing her head back and falling down to the floor a lot, and it varies between a cackle or high-pitched squeaks or deep-throated chuckles.
TWO sook likes : cats, passion fruit, mango, or peach flavored drinks, bubble tea, watches, getting her nails done, minimalistic tattoos, fried chicken, meat, eating, dancing randomly and in public, embarassing ngsy, lITTLE KIDS! BABIES!
THREE sook doesn't like : bananas, dipping sauces, ngsy antis, smelling bad, being hot, swearing, drinking, smoking, tainting her body in general
FOUR sook listens to kpop quite a lot - she likes groups and artists who have their own distinct styles and talents, i.e. dean, block b, vixx, bangtan, zico, suran, hyukoh, etc. all those self-composing groups + contemporary/r&b artists. american music is something she finds through recommendation because she's too lazy to look herself.
FIVE having spent time in america and just being jung sook in general, sook doesn't really utilize the whole honorific system. especially around ngsy - it's pretty nonexistent. all she does is call binna and chaekyung unni and make fun of the fangirls who screech 'oppa' at the boys, giving sook all the more reason to dislike the word. it just has such a desparate connotation to it, so as a result, sook calls no ngsy male oppa, unless it's to be obnoxious and tease them (them meaning ryland).
STEP TWO.
faceclaim. kim doyeon ioi
backup fc. kim jinkyung model
height. 173 cm
weight. 55 kg

appearance. plump lips, big eyes, a long, flat nose bridge. luscious, black hair, long, slim legs, a thin, slender body frame. there are many reasons sook has been mistaken for a model. she has a very bold, confident aura - she walks with pride, holding her head up, sporting her signature red lips, flashing the deep dimple on her right cheek. she's long-limbed, always been tall, but she embraces it and doesn't try to make herself feel smaller - but how could jung sook ever be small?
fashion. sook's style is simplistic enough for others to admit that if it weren't for her face, she'd look quite plain. but as it is, she works her outfits, however casual, and still appears as bold as she can be. denim jackets, applique tees, skinny jeans, big flannels, black on black, distressed clothing. her style is actually a lot more manly and grunge-y than people would think, but she loves comfort and loves slipping out of her bothersome school uniform and into some ripped black skinny jeans and a faded 90's rock band's tshirt.

STEP FIVE.
relationships.

PARENTS : JOO MIRAE, JUNG JAEHA ( 47, 49 )
they raised her well, loving her and making sure she remembered her manners and feeding her milk. they've gone through rough patches, as every family has, but sook's had to experience both paths of the problem. her and her mom grew closer through their tribulations - mirae always wanted the best for her daughter and supports her and ngsy fully, no matter what happens. of course, she worries in the back of her mind about sook's feelings and schoolwork, but she prefers the music over anything else that sook could've done. jaeha, however, is quite the opposite - he was never more mature than mirae, and their family problems didn't improve anything on his side. he became more easily upset and angered and sook's relationship with him went from awkward and distant to fiery and uncomfortable. jaeha continuously yells at her and criticizes her and her "ragtag group of friends", and sook tends to simply ignore him. their relationship is also why sook and her mom are so close - but however much they can joke around and go on fun dates together, sook doesn't realize how much her mother has sacrificed for her, and her love for her gets diminished by the nagging she receives, but (character development!) she needs to understand that her mom is the one who's taught her the most- not ngsy or mr. holt or her uncle.

UNCLE : JUNG JAEGEUN ( 45 )
jaegeun is jaeha's brother, but is nothing like him. he's always been around for the jung family, lending them money, babysitting sook, etc. mirae is extremely grateful for him, especially now in the present as he continuously tries to talk sense into his brother. sook loves her uncle and looks up to him so much - he's the father figure she prefers and needs. they joke around a lot and hang out a lot and play music a lot, and sook tends to talk to him and rant to him when she's upset at her parents since he's always been the more laidback, openminded one. he's the uncle who gives her allowance whenever he sees her, who ruffles her hair and gives her a kiss on the forehead as he leaves, who she believes she prefers more than her own mother since he always seems like the good guy, when mirae can't help but be the bad guy sometimes, who sook sometimes wonders why he can't be her dad instead.

WILTED : MIN WOOSEOK, JOO HABIN, SUNG MINSHIK, HWANG KANGDOO ( 42+ )
the four other men in jaegeun's rock band - sook's four other uncles, basically. they're far past their world tours and stage diving, but they've got a little headbanging left in them. they're the funny uncles who fight like little kids and teach like 80 year old wise men, who support sook, the little musician, and all have their own spot in sook's heart for the things they've taught her about appreciating what life gives you.

MENTOR : BLAKE HOLT ( 66 )
mr. holt - white hair, round, thin-rimmed glasses, smile wrinkles, and with the style of a vintage and stylish grandpa from the 80's - that's mr. blake holt. having been alone for a majority of his life, with no wife, children, siblings, or living parents, and some distant family members in canada - sook brought him happiness, innocence, hope, and strawberry milk. for the four years sook was in america, she learned from him how to play the synthesizer and how to love the synthesizer and how to be a synthesizer - he taught her to love music and it's ability to bring people together and she taught him how to have a relationship and love. they were the typical cute picture of an old man and a little girl, and sook is always fond upon memories of him, and would jump at any chance to contact him again.

LOVE INTEREST : JOO WOOSEOK ( 18 )
expounded here.

NGSY : LIFELONG FRIENDS (  )
expounded here.
