so done

okay hello im going to rant, i have to let this out.

So recently, i posted ONE chapter of chankai's relationship progressing and just...wow. the amount of people that unsubscribed from mdb and expressed their disgust shocked me? like this is such a jerk move for people who claim to be avid readers?? does this mean that the closer chanyeol and jongin get (as planned, sorry), the more readers would drop mdb without giving it another chance? I mean come onnnn, it's not like this chapter determines who the endgame is. Chankai has to interact according the plot, mdb isnt just focused on sekai alone y'know.

This is mainly the reason why ive been contemplating on shifting to another site -- just somewhere peaceful with nice, GENUINE readers who wouldnt give me hell for whatever  i write. Every single time i give an update, trust there will always be a reader or two that would be out to piss me off so much i'd get upset thinking about it the entire day, im not even kidding. I dont usually make that much of a fuss regarding stuff like this since im a silent writer. Even though some readers have offended me i never once tried to block them because theyre still my readers at the end of the day. i dont think i have ever complained about it, that i get really bothered by this fact but honestly, my patience is running thin lmao I try my best to give updates despite the load of stuff i have to take care of irl but unfortunately for me,  like this still happen. no offense but out of all the fics ive written i have to say mdb's got the most annoying readers. Some constantly unsubscribe/subscribe in spite of showing me 'support' thru comments and whats more, they demand things as if im even getting a pay out of it. Put yourself in my shoes for one moment; how would you feel if you were a writer suddenly finding out that a reader of yours (one whose name you already memorized) just unsubbed from your fic taking into consideration that they fangirled in the comment section plenty of times claiming that youre their most favorite author ever? Pretty ty right? if youre thinking "what exaggeration is this? It isnt even that big of a deal for her to get mad at" maybe. maybe it wouldnt be a big deal for me if it didnt happen OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Yes, i know mdb is a clichéd love rivalry kind of story. I gave a warning beforehand--scenes from this fic more often than not are going to be predictable. If you dont agree with how the story is tagged, then for the love of god do not subscribe, just to complain and unsubscribe later on and offend the author simply because your otp didnt sail as much as you expected. You knew what you were getting yourself into the moment you subscribed into a fic that has both chankai and sekai included in the tags. Chankai is clearly a tag of mdb, what's the point of including it if i didnt write about it? Other writers may use certain tags for clicks but dont lump me in with them.

Keep in mind that although writers have thousands of readers doesnt mean they no longer pay attention to all the little things. Some writers are quite sensitive. It's an understatement to say they are observant when it comes to their main audience and if you think we wont notice it if you subscribe-comment-unsubscribe-subscribe-again / fangirl-about-their-stories-but-never-tried-adding-or-recommending-them-to-fic-recs, youre absolutely wrong. We always find out, one way or another. and when we do it's one of the worst feelings.

This is another reason why authors choose to mark their fics as subscribe-only. We do this for security purposes and yet other aff users, particularly readers that have never sneaked a glance into a writer's world, still have the audacity to view/call subs-only authors as attention seekers? seriously? the , people. It's a never-ending cycle that whenever a writer is pretty chill, they get taken for granted and once they get tired of your bs and ditch aff, youre going to ask WHY?

Let me be very clear: an u n p a i d fic writer can only take so much .

I know it shouldnt decide when upset, but im one step away from marking mdb as invite-only. Or maybe take it down?? i dont know anymore. I honestly dont want to waste the rare time i get to update a fic that would only earn me ungrateful readers. : - )

As a Kai stan I love MDB because there is Chankai, you have readers that love chankai too, not only sekai shippers matter. I love both ships but it doesn't matter if some people disagree with the parings is just your story and you should do wathever you want with it. If people leave they are missing out, their lost. Don't let popular pressure ruin the natural flow of your stories. Also some of us just love your stores and want them to be explained to us as you feel not as popular demand made you feel. Thankyou for keep writing for us.

I didn't unsuscribed, but I still think that'd be a natural reaction from people, they just agree to see what they want and although I'm perfectly fine pairing Kai with maybe the 99% people on Earth, that doesn't mean that everybody'll like it, so what's with the subs? Don't worry! Maybe Chankai is not their cup of tea. However, I didn't see the comments section, was it too bad?

Oh my god! Why am I only seeing this now! No wonder I couldn't read mdb and I just didn't know whaat to do anymore.. I 've lost count of the times I 've read your stories..and it's like a get away for me!
My heart always literally skip a beat when I see your updates!
Now what should I do to read it. Even if you don't update which I hope you will. Only if you want and is comfortable with it! I just wish to read your already done chapters..I can't get enough of it. Is there a way I can read it??!
It's okay if you don't want to include me..i am mostly a silent reader only leaving comments here and there. Wish I commented more often..and cheered you on..
Just letting you know..we are so thankful for you taking your time and writing stories for us..and you manage to brighten our days! I know many readers will agree with me..

I'm sorry for what happened to you, author-nim. I love MDB, and i love Sekai and Chankai, so i don't know why people send those hate to you and unsubscribe your story. I hope the best for you and whatever you decide to do, please let us now. I'll really miss your stories.

Whatever you decide to do, PLEASE let me know! If you go elsewhere, or go invite only, I REALLY want to finish the story. I hate that idiots CANNOT READ TAGS. They are there for a REASON. Its just like someone getting ticked and reporting for something that IS TAGGED. In other words. FREAKING RIDICULOUS!

Chankai is literally tagged for everyone to see. I think that people should actually pay attention to . There have been many times where I read a story and the couple I wanted to get together didn't in the end, but I chose not to unsubscribe because 1. The story was so will written 2. I constantly comment on the story and praise the author 3. EVERY SINGLE COUPLE OR BROMANCE WAS CAREFULLY TAGGED SO I WASN'T SURPRISED AT ALL

Im sorry you have to go through that. You even said how you're very busy and don't have that much time to write. I hope that work/school doesn't get too overbearing and you don't get too stressed out. I love chankai and sekai so any interaction between them gets me happy. Don't forget that there are people here who support you ;)

some people are sensitive and don't want to see their precious otp other than with each other so maybe some people thought-like me-end game was sekai or chankai moments were little and not important so they started to read story because they didn't want to risk missing a good sekai fic. but of course anyone shouldn't complain to you when chankai happens it is tagged and they read knowing that but you can't get mad at people for deciding not to read the story and unsubscribe. why would they read something if they make them uncomfortable or hurt? thats what i did. i gave the story a chance then when chankai started to happen my heart couldn't take it and i unsubscribed. you should just block people who leaves rude comments or tell you what to do. i saw people blocking for so much less if it's make you sad block rude readers in my opinion :/

I love your stories but I can't seem to access them at the moment :( It's sad that someone will take he time out of their day to bash on a story, a fictional story that an author works hard just to update. I hope you're feeling better.. Seriously, just start blocking whoever gives you a hard time.

That's very a disrespectful thing for those "fans" to have done just because chankai is getting screen time. They fail to understand the concepts of writing apparently, what's the point of having a chaptered fix that's barren of minor characters to thicken the plot and create plot twists and promote the development of the main characters???

Also they must be blind, the tags has chankai, chanyeol is one the poster which indicates he is a main character/ plays a major role in the plot and ya'll we could see the chankai from a mile awaaaay?????
Chanyeol was nice to him while Sehun was all up in his feelings and they are comfortable in each others presence it makes sense that some lovely fluffy feelings will appear between even if its fleeting.
Uggh these people.

Aside from mdb specifically, readers should learn to respect the authors that take time out of their busy live to create works of fiction for us to read. They didn't have to, this all non-profit, but they wanted to and the least we can do in return as readers is respect them and their decisions.

I live for the cliché of mdb and I like the predictable yet unpredictable plot twists and like I'd never unsubscribe bc it is gold and I'm ecstatic whenever it updates--but aff does consist of very picky readers, I understand that, but you've got a ton of readers who will stay no matter what (me lol)

ao3 is a good site to go, if you'd like, and a lot of aff readers are also on there (me again lol)

don't feel bad tho! we luv yooouuu

I know the feeling. When I used to write for the Got7 fandom, I had the same thing happen when I clearly marked it as "slightSECONDOTP" so of course if you properly read the tags, you should know that SECONDOTP is gonna have SOME moments.

But sometimes people just unsub once they get that notification bc they've been meaning to for a while but hadn't gotten around to it. In your case though, it sounds like some butthurt reader who can't stand chankai. But like if Chankai is your NOTP, why did you subscribe to a story tagged chankai to begin with???????? If they wanted to read some simple sekai story, then they didn't need to subscribe to begin with. People are so dumb.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I left ficdom for many reasons, and entitled readers was certainly one of them. Ao3 seems to have a decent sekai following, so you could always go there. I noticed that comments are more meaningful on that site too. You can also lock fics to members-only.
