so done
okay hello im going to rant, i have to let this out.
So recently, i posted ONE chapter of chankai's relationship progressing and just...wow. the amount of people that unsubscribed from mdb and expressed their disgust shocked me? like this is such a jerk move for people who claim to be avid readers?? does this mean that the closer chanyeol and jongin get (as planned, sorry), the more readers would drop mdb without giving it another chance? I mean come onnnn, it's not like this chapter determines who the endgame is. Chankai has to interact according the plot, mdb isnt just focused on sekai alone y'know.
This is mainly the reason why ive been contemplating on shifting to another site -- just somewhere peaceful with nice, GENUINE readers who wouldnt give me hell for whatever i write. Every single time i give an update, trust there will always be a reader or two that would be out to piss me off so much i'd get upset thinking about it the entire day, im not even kidding. I dont usually make that much of a fuss regarding stuff like this since im a silent writer. Even though some readers have offended me i never once tried to block them because theyre still my readers at the end of the day. i dont think i have ever complained about it, that i get really bothered by this fact but honestly, my patience is running thin lmao I try my best to give updates despite the load of stuff i have to take care of irl but unfortunately for me, like this still happen. no offense but out of all the fics ive written i have to say mdb's got the most annoying readers. Some constantly unsubscribe/subscribe in spite of showing me 'support' thru comments and whats more, they demand things as if im even getting a pay out of it. Put yourself in my shoes for one moment; how would you feel if you were a writer suddenly finding out that a reader of yours (one whose name you already memorized) just unsubbed from your fic taking into consideration that they fangirled in the comment section plenty of times claiming that youre their most favorite author ever? Pretty ty right? if youre thinking "what exaggeration is this? It isnt even that big of a deal for her to get mad at" maybe. maybe it wouldnt be a big deal for me if it didnt happen OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Yes, i know mdb is a clichéd love rivalry kind of story. I gave a warning beforehand--scenes from this fic more often than not are going to be predictable. If you dont agree with how the story is tagged, then for the love of god do not subscribe, just to complain and unsubscribe later on and offend the author simply because your otp didnt sail as much as you expected. You knew what you were getting yourself into the moment you subscribed into a fic that has both chankai and sekai included in the tags. Chankai is clearly a tag of mdb, what's the point of including it if i didnt write about it? Other writers may use certain tags for clicks but dont lump me in with them.
Keep in mind that although writers have thousands of readers doesnt mean they no longer pay attention to all the little things. Some writers are quite sensitive. It's an understatement to say they are observant when it comes to their main audience and if you think we wont notice it if you subscribe-comment-unsubscribe-subscribe-again / fangirl-about-their-stories-but-never-tried-adding-or-recommending-them-to-fic-recs, youre absolutely wrong. We always find out, one way or another. and when we do it's one of the worst feelings.
This is another reason why authors choose to mark their fics as subscribe-only. We do this for security purposes and yet other aff users, particularly readers that have never sneaked a glance into a writer's world, still have the audacity to view/call subs-only authors as attention seekers? seriously? the , people. It's a never-ending cycle that whenever a writer is pretty chill, they get taken for granted and once they get tired of your bs and ditch aff, youre going to ask WHY?
Let me be very clear: an u n p a i d fic writer can only take so much .
I know it shouldnt decide when upset, but im one step away from marking mdb as invite-only. Or maybe take it down?? i dont know anymore. I honestly dont want to waste the rare time i get to update a fic that would only earn me ungrateful readers. : - )
