Of (My) Fanfic Covers

So, yeah, hi there, anyone who drops by. Whether by accident or by fate, it does not matter. Whether you leave now or never (cue "Now or Never" song) (abruptly stopped because it's out of context), it does not really matter to meeeeeeeee.... to meeeeeee (if you didn't sing that, well, I guess we are not really compatible lol).

I am just a human bean (no, I didn't mistype that), trying to channel all my ideas through various media. Writing is my first choice, then my second will be graphics (actually, singing, but I have sore throat today, so yeah, graphics). I am a very visual person. I will remember things better if I see them myself (I have really bad memory when it comes to remembering someone's name unless they write it down for me, but hey, that's normal! Yay! I'm quite normal!). I like drawings, but it has been years since I really drew something. Since I write a lot of fanfics, when I post them, I always think that it will be too plain if I don't put a cover for it.

Well, initially I didn't see the importance of making a poster. I actually loathed a fanfic site that required the authors to have a poster accompanying their stories, but because I wanted to post my story there, I asked my friend to make one for me. Well, three actually.

From left to right: Heaven's Touch, a Jung Yunho-centric fanfic; Deeper than the Abyss, a Choi Siwon fanfic which content actually is merrier than the poster looks (lol); De La Conversación, a fic I wrote because of my despair over Argentina's lost in 2010 FIFA World Cup (lol) Yes, I am quite a writer, indeed.

I also tried to use a graphic shop's service once, but meh, I think I am just bad at making requests (lol) or my stories are too complex for people to understand that they failed to make what I wanted. Either way, this one failed to deliver, well, everything. It is basically a good poster (do not compare with today's posters because this was made seven years ago approximately lol--yes, I am old! In fact, SHINee's Choi Minho and I were born just a few days apart! He is still older than me, though), but it does not give any clue of what my story is really about!

This is a poster I requested for a fanfic, semi-historical and semi-futuristic (the hell, Lumienarc, your head), which is no more than my take on assassins (the Hassansins, you know? One of the job advancement options of a thief in RO and the main of Assassin's Creed?) and an old Mandarin film that was called "The Curse of Golden Flower".... or something. I don't quite remember (lol). I just wrote it for fun since everyone died in the end except the assassin. (lol)

I have been making covers for my fanfics since I had a personal computer. The first one was probably the one I planned for a Siwon fanfic, which I never finished or published (lol). These days I am more motivated since I have been given loads of ideas. But I only make posters for chaptered fics, never oneshot. Too much work, 面倒くさいし. Hehe. The posters/covers I made sometimes far too plain like the one I put for Minjun-hyung-centric ff, "With You". Sadly it's continuation hasn't had a cover yet (I have yet to receive a divine whisper for that!).

I just wanted a cover for it because I wanted to put the e-book in my phone and it felt off without a cover, so I made one. Until now I never made anything to replace this (lol). I guess this already represents the whole story, so I just don't bother to make another. Hahahaha, sorry, Hyung!

Sometimes, far too... contradicting, such as the cover I made for "Octopus Pot", with "film poster" concept, vs the cover I made for the very same fanfic but with "paperback book" concept. I don't publish this, but I printed it for myself and it looked so pretty, so I am satisfied.

Actually a poster based on "Fish Tank" movie poster because "Octopus Pot" was inspired by the film. Boring (lol), but my friend once said that it gives off the vibe of Mandarin movie poster, apart from my usage of Chinese characters and the Hangul--and I agreed. Thankfully, I didn't receive any angry slap. Does it mean the award is annuled? (Did it even exist in the first place, you freaky author?)

This I made only with Ps (I am most comfortable using this bitmap software). I don't draw with software, totally bummed that with my mouse (click, drag, click, clickity, draaaaaaaaaaag). All I did was transforming the pot from real pot pic into drawing and putting everything together and brushing about the blue background. When printed, the colours are so vibrant, I almost cried.

Sometimes, I wonder why my life is so monochromic.

"Fated Injustice" and  "I Hate You" posters, made of same magazine photo series of our beloved Thai Prince. Both emphasize the dark nature of the stories and mostly twisted fate of Nichkhun (lol). I really like how "I Hate You" poster comes out despite the picture I found contain Nichkhun's interview (which is quite funny, contradicting the background lol). You won't be able to read the interview on my poster, though. I erased them all!! (cue the dramatic sfx) and replaced them with quotes from my story.

I really did the "Fated Injustice" blindly because I just couldn't picture how it should be when it was done. I am glad it turned out... well, decent.

In addition of the poster I made for "Fated Injustice", I have just finished making a book cover for it (lol) The Yggdrasil picture wasn't mine, but I was unable to find the creator. I still have to find them, hahaha. I can't believe I actually put the Wishmaster there. I mean, who in the right mind would dare to carve, even a galdrastafir on the bark of Yggdrasil?! Can a midgardian even reach it? Yes, ignore my rant about it now. Haha.

Believe it or not, the woman in the right was made of Nichkhun. Hahahaha. The torso is purely Khunnie torso! And the arm. I took it out of their A.D.T.O.Y. dance practice (lol) y pose!

Which one of these that you prefer? I don't know why, but somehow I just changed the background from as dark as my heart to somehow green-greyish (lol)

Hahaha, I like solid colours, to be honest, and whenever I try to make something, it always ends up with clean, solid colours. Certainly, I am not fated to be an animator. If so, I'd never sleep (lol). I mean, I pull an all-nighter to make a poster, most of times, what would become of myself if I got paid for that? Especially if I had to work for heartless industry of animation. Man, what is sleep? Could I even eat properly? Even a mangaka is generally known as a hellish job. Hahahaha. Then, I start to think why we humans work? Oh, yes, we are condemned for it because we, humans, sinned. Thanks for reminding me that, Eve. (lol)

Ah, yes, I actually just wanted to show off my works. Sorry not sorry. Hahaha. And I just wanted to ask for any opinion, especially about the last one. I am going to give myself a birthday present, which is my story printed as a book. Ha! Anyway, thanks for dropping by, even reading to the end of this... whatever is this. I'll just... do a jete to the door. Arriverdeci!

Not because of accident nor fate, but because of my will *yawns*
I don't know the song and you've told me we are incompatible.
Visual, huh? Allright, now I know the reason if you ever forget me.
I prefer the black one, but the green one is nice too. If people pass by and see the book cover, they'll think that it's a normal male-female romance. LoL
The man? Is it Nichkhun also?
