Hello, we are: VICTON

I do not own the groups, subs, videos, links, or audio that I am mentioning and featuring in this review and first impression.

“2, 3! V I C T O N! Hello, we are Victon!”

VICTON, meaning Voice to New World, is a 7 member group that debuted on November 9, 2016 (11.09.16) with the song, 아무렇지 않은 척 (I’m Fine), featuring Apink’s Naeun as the love interest for the MV. The boy group is currently signed under Plan A Entertainment (formerly known as A Cube Entertainment), which houses musical acts Apink and ballad singer Huh Gak. This is the company’s first boy group.

My thoughts in general/first impression:

This group overwhelmed me. I don't know why but I was expecting something like Astro, which sort of came out. I watched Astro's show, followed the boys casually, and was impressed with their debut, a very soft and refreshing Astro. But for some reason, Victon just shocked me still.

Okay, that sounds like an exaggeration but I really was overwhelmed. I knew that the group was debuting soon and I watched some episodes of the predebut show, Me & 7 Men. They were pretty cute, and vaguely reminded me of BTOB predebut.

I watched the teasers, but I don't remember most of the members of the group yet. I know that it was one of the member's birthday quite recently (Happy Birthday Byungchan!) and I've been hearing so much about this group from all sides of platforms..

I never went so fast to see if this group was on Spotify yet since I found out Stellar was added to Spotify (thank you for that).

I really wanted to see what the hype was.

The album:

I'll only mention some of the songs from the mini album, but as a whole, the mini was very suave and clean for a debut. The voices blend well together and I can hear distinctive color tones. For someone who doesn't know the members, I feel that the songs gave each voice a time to shine.

There isn't really a clear style for the group just yet, but it's still a good mini. And it's okay because they did just debut. So onto the songs!

What Time Is It Now?: When this started playing on my Spotify, I wasn't sure what I was really listening to at first and started singing,

"T oh double P, D oh double G. Hell yeah," because I thought the song was ToppDogg's "O.A.S.I.S." But then I heard the melody change, someone else speaking, and I nearly flipped because I just sang the wrong lyrics to the wrong song.

The song has a clean hook that's catchy to remember. The lyrics are easy to follow and it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. I remember seeing the teaser with this song and it was eye-and-ear-grabbing. Personally, I'm happy that this song wasn't the title track for this mini. For the rest of the mini, there's a light-hearted feel that this song doesn't have. The color is a little harder and stronger, but stimulating all the same. It's probably my favorite track from the mini.

I'm Fine (with MV review):

Very. Bright. And. Fresh. The storyline of the MV isn't original or anything that stands out. Funny enough, it reminds me of Lollipop by IMFACT from the colors and theme. Not song wise, but just MV wise. They seem to be going for the 'first love' type style in this music video. Although Naeun isn't someone I pay much attention to in Apink, it was still sweet to see her in this MV. I can see why people like her so much.

Sejun (the one with the red cardigan and stripe shirt) is someone I see a lot in the comments. Oh, the group's visuals in general are smooth and clean to see. There's a lot of upclose shots of each member's face so people trying to pick a bias will have an easier time trying to pick? Or it may be harder since they’re all handsome haha >:D
This may not be the most catchy song for debut, but it is relaxing and upbeat.

I recommend listening to the whole mini, honestly.

Do you have a bias yet?: Hm..too early to say. I think I'll keep watching the pre-debut and follow their activites to decide if I'll have one. I like their music and image so far. They seem like fun boys...but this is what I said about KNK and look at where we are...hm...we'll see.

For a group debuting at the end of the year, I hope that they get some recognition. I understand that there will be pressures among any group labelled as "brother group of (insert group name here)," but they should not be discouraged! It's also nice to have more groups with their name starting with the letter V. ^^ There's a lot of groups starting with the letter B so this is a nice change up.

May VICTON have a successful debut and continue through the Hallyu wave.
