style — Minjung cares so much about how she looks, sometimes she can spend up to an hour just brainstorming on what to wear - the effort always pays off, however. No matter where she goes, she looks impeccable and goddess-like, truly fitting her group. She puts in tons of effort into how she looks like, and that's really only because of how she thinks that first impressions matter. Despite her being the maknae, others can truly count on her for true useful fashion advice. To her, looks matter and weigh a lot on how you look in public - no matter where she is: at home, practicing, exercising, going to buy milk, she looks like a model on the runway.

personality — Minjung is very genuine with what she thinks and how she feels. You can expect her to be 100% truth and honesty, and can always count on her for an honest opinion. In any situation, Minjung is always very generous with her things and with her money - she will willingly spend most of her money on her unnies and loved ones. She always treats them and buys them presents despite having no occassion to do so - she just likes treasuring her friends the best way she knows how, through gifts and affection. She's also very composed and calm and you can expect her to be the eye of the storm in an argument or troubling situation. She's very empathetic and everyone and anyone can go to her with their troubles and leave feeling happy that someone understands what they're going through.

However, Minjung is quite introverted due to her lonely childhood. It's not that she prefers being alone, it's that she's more used to being alone. She likes to keep to herself as is what she's comfortable with, most of the time. She can also be quite blunt and insensitive as she is not used to interacting with a lot of people. She runs and blurts out whatever she's thinking and though honesty's the best policy, she can come out as rather rude. This is because she did not have a lot of interaction with other people as a child and doesn't really know what counts as being rude or not. She is also rather possessive over her loved ones and though she doesn't really like to show this side of her often, it shines through in the tiniest of actions.

background — Minjung, living in Gangnam, Seoul, lives a very lavish lifestyle. Her father was a CEO of a very successful restaurant chain, thus bathing his family in a lot of wealth. However, Minjung's mother was a doctor and was often usually in the hosptial from early morning till late hours and Minjung never really saw her much. As expected, her father almost always came late as well and never interacted with Minjung while she grew up. This is why Minjung has a really bad EQ. She is a single child with no other siblings to play with growing up and she was really seperated from her other classmates in school due to her wealth. Due to this, she mostly stayed to herself and practiced on her own. 

    Her mother and father also put her in modelling gigs since young, starting from a child all the way until she was 16 when she was accepted as a YG trainee. They believed that she could build confidence through learning how to walk on the catwalk and she would learn how to groom herself well. It also served as a side activity aside from the dance academy since she was usually alone at home after school, so it served as something to do so that she wouldn't be so lonely. But she quickly stopped modelling when she got accepted as she wanted to focus on that instead of being on the runway. 

    Growing up, she always admired the dancers in different idol groups - she loved how they moved and told a story with their movements. Thus when she was 12, her father enrolled her to a dance school where she learnt ballet and hip hop. As she proceeded to get older, her skill was shown in dancing when her numerous instructors commended her fast learning pace. In her spare time, she was always practicing her dance numbers and skills, developing her talent further. She soon auditioned for YG when she was 16 with an original routine to 2NE1's Crush. She passed all rounds of audition with her parents and relatives' well wishes and support. 

training years — 2 years

trainee life — As a trainee, Minjung was very determined to improve herself. Aside from going to school and going to YG Building afterwards to train, she still went to her dance school to sharpen her skills and movements. In the YG Building, she worked on improving her singing and her interacting skills for variety shows, keeping vigilant during dance practices. Despite having to balance going to three schools and having more on her plate compared to other trainees, she still excelled and maintained a good impression on the trainers. 

    She was quite well known among the other trainees because of her young age and heavy responsibilities, but she still did so well during monthly evaluations. Because of this, Seungri and Dara approached her and seperated her from the other trainees her to train her seperately. She was told of the plan early on and due to the special treatment she received, decided to cut her dance school as well since she was being trained by the people she looked up to: Dara and Seungri. She worked even harder and pushed herself to work harder, just to reach her trainers high expectations from her.

✩Junhoe , Fans think iKon's Junhoe and JUNO's Minjung are dating?, False. This happened because te fans noticed that the both of them were very close from the getgo and had the same jacket.

Hello, I am Kim Minjung. Even though I am young and come from a rich family, I don't want people to see me as spoilt. I am hardworking and am very determined, especially with my role in this group. I am not good at making friends, so... I can be quiet and introverted at times, but please don't let that deter you. I want to be a lot of people's friends and don't want to be alone. I like anime, and I'm very interested in dancing so...maybe we could talk about those....?

✩Who is your trainer? what was training under that trainor like?

My trainers were Dara sunbae from 2NE1 and Seungri sunbae from BIGBANG. Training under them was really fun and to me, it felt like a privilage. I have always looked up to them and respected them as dancers, especially when I first started dancing. They're really funny and friendly but are really strict when it comes to dancing and expect a lot from me. I think it's because of this that I have grown a lot over two years, as a person, as a dancer and as an idol. I really respect and admire them. 

✩how do you feel debuting as ikon's female counterpart?

Having the chance to debut at all is already very good, for me. I'm glad that my parents and family members support didn't go to waste and that all these years waiting for me to debut have been worth it. So being able to debut as a really talented idol group's female counterpart is really a miracle to me! I'm happy that my hardwork and determination have been recognised and I'm able to debut this early on. I hope that since we're the female counterparts of iKon sunbae, we can grow close to them...? hopefully. 

✩what do you thinik of your members?

I think my members are all very pretty and charismatic. They're all very good at variety and are really friendly. I just hope that they don't take my quiet nature the wrong way... I really hope to learn from all of my unnis and become like a family to them. Hopefully we can bond and be close in time, and don't fight. I'm very excited to get to know them as well! 

✩in the future, who are the artists you'd want to collaborate with, if given the chance?

I'd want to collaborate with WINNER or maybe iKon? Those two groups are very talented and are very good idols, so I hope to learn from these sunbaes. I also really like their different genres, and maybe if we collaborate we can make a really good song? It's also a different learning experience and right now, compared to the other members and idols, I'm lacking in experience. So I want to learn as much as I can! :)

the one and only.

relationship  — Minjung and Junhoe were shown to be very close from the very start. Due to Junhoe's friendly personality, Minjung opened up quite easily to him and it's quite obvious that Minjung's quiet personaloty being around Junhoe's normally loud self actually helped the thers around them to mantain peace and quiet when needed. The both of them balance each other out and are a very useful pair to have around due to Junhoe's meticulousness and Minjung's cool and composed self. 

    However, Minjung and Junhoe do get annoyed at each other sometimes. There are no real, shouting, furious fights between them but there is a lot of arguing and baseless bickering. THe both of them argue over the smallest of things, and the moment they both isagree on something, be sure to stear clear of their way as their bickering gets irritatiing. However, they always make sure to talk to each other afterwards and apologise, agreeing to disagree. 

history — Minjung and Junhoe first met when YG decided to give them a colab - with each other. YG thought that Minjung and Junhoe's voice would complement each other and gave them a task as well. He made them write and compose their own song for the very first time, with each others help. Giving them a time limit of a month to write the song, as well. 

     Since none of them were particularly skilled or had any experience writing songs, they met up a lot for a month, just to finish writing their song. At first they had a lot of trouble with it as they couldn't even decide on a topic but in the end, decided to write a song about the process of debuting in YG. After choosing the topic, they gave each other tasks to help stay focused. Junhoe was writing the lyrics while Minjung was the composer. They helped each other out, and by the end of the time limit, had given YG a great song made with their hardwork. By the end of it, both of them were really close and stayed as really good friends. 

trivia —
