the ugly timid, soft-spoken, introverted, sacrificial, sensitive, absent-minded
teshima has a good reputation amongst his classmates and his team mates. this is because of his kind and understanding personality. he's very open to everyone and anything, you can always go to him if you need to talk to anyone and he won't judge you. he's very trustworthy, everyone trusts him - teachers, adults, friends, family members, even strangers. he's very trusting towards you and genuine, you can't help but trust him in return. he's really loyal to his loved ones and will never betray them in any way, even if it's something small like leaving home without waiting for them. despite how he looks, he's really intelligent with his grades and he can read people really well. when people underestimate him, they get shocked and surprised when he talks about his friends' personalities and mannerisms - like he can look straight through them and see into the very fibre of their being. however, teshima has his problems. teshima's very timid and even though he listens to other people, he doesn't rely on other people much as he's very shy and feels like he's disturbing them. he's extremely soft=spoken and introverted, due to this, no one really notices him since he doesn't speak up much. he's hard to make open up and speak or show about his feelings, the only thing he openly gushes about is volleyball. he has a very sacrificial attitude, willing to give everything to the other in a relationship to make the other happy. this doesn't just apply to his crush, but to all his loved ones - he'll pull out all stops if he could, just to make the other happy. he's easily hurt because of his sensitivity. he'll punish himself harshly if anyone ever has any complaints about him, pushing himself harder to improve so that no one will have any complaints or issues towards him. he 's also quite absent-minded and can forget things easily. it shows in his mannerisms and though you wouldn't think teshima would be, it's quite intense and it shines through in the worst scenarios. on the court however, he's very different and becomes very confident and focused on preventing the ball from hitting the floor.
Backstory :
his life in Tokyo was okay - his family is quite well off and he lived in a medium-sized house, with two loving and doting parents. he wasn't popular in school and was more like a wallflower, with only one or two friends, but no best friends. he had joined the volleyball club only in his second year so his skills aren't honed as well, but his sheer hard work and intense practices helped him to improve his techniques and skills. his school volleyball team never worked together, and instead chose to play individually and arrogantly. this is why he's not used to having team-plays and working with other people, instead choosing to do things on his own, not yet quite used to having or being in a team that can depend on each other.
Relationships :
Nejimugi Ketsu : 17 : bad relationship - he was one of the few team mates in teshima's old school. he was the captain and the setter, and the one thing he said to teshima that really influenced him was this: "volleyball is a game best played alone - no one will always be there for you, so take things in your own hands. play alone."
Trivia :
+ he receives a lot of love confessions from both boys and girls in karusuno, which he isn't used to and doesn't know how to reject. + he dislikes cake with a burning passion. + he can sing really... badly. don't allow him to sing. + he cooks porridge well, but that's it. the rest is just charcoal. + he actually loves kpop a lot and freaks out over it a lot + be prepared for a fight for a life time if you want to seperate him from his jackets. + he's good with tarot cards and can do tarot card readings

Experience :
he has played for only three years if you include the year he arrived in karusuno. he had watched an international volleyball match live, dragged by his parents. it had been his first time and he was captivated by their teaamwork and cooperation - how the team worked together so well to get points. he loved it, quit the tarot card club and joined the volleyball club the next day. he played in his middle school's volleyball club, Kirishima Middle School volleyball club.

Advantages : he's very calm and collected in a game, you can rely on him a lot as a libero and he will be there to calm you down or make you see sense.
Disadvantages : he has a hard time playing as a team as he learnt to play volleyball on his own.
Why did they come to Karasuno : teshima had heard about karusuno's previous reputation as a team that relied on teamwork and cooperation, with a family like feel. he wanted to play like the teams he saw in his first volleyball game - to have the same connection with s that was missing in his middle school life. and so, despite the withering reputation of karusuno, he came to chase his dreams.
