How did you get into K-pop?

Hey guys,

So, I was just wondering about this question since I'm curious about your stories and it's Jongdae's birthday and he was the reason why I got into K-pop, so I was just thinking what was your reason to become interested in Korean music? Or who was your reason? ^^

As I've mentioned, it was Kim Jongdae - aka the only and one Chen from EXO - was the one who dragged me into this crazy world of biases and comebacks and multitalented Asian guys. Yet, they weren't the first group that I became familiar with because I knew Infinite before EXO thanks to my sister who showed them to me. I didn't have a bias from Infinite and wasn't even a huge fangirl of their music. Of course, it changed as time went by but I came across EXO when I was on We Heart It and saw lots of pictures of these guys. You know, there's the front page of this site and it's always full of pictures that are trending at the moment. I knew K-pop by then and saw EXO multiple times in the tags and decided to see them for myself.

Yet, Chen was the one who made me give them a chance because I had watched his OST Best Luck before and I just fell in love with his voice. Best Luck is still one of my favourite songs (it was actually my morning alarm this morning as well :D) and I thought that his group was just like him. To be honest, I couldn't even recognise him in the MV. XD I have to admit that I used to think that they were only cool guys with good looks and that's it. I watched the MV for Call me baby and didn't even know who was who but the whole thing just didn't seem appealing to me. I watched until the first chorus and decided that I don't need these cool guys in my life. The next day, Call me baby was the song that got stuck in my head. Literally, I just couldn't get rid of it. So, I gave them another chance, watched the MV until the end, watched the lyrics, the choreography and the members' profile.

It didn't take long until I realised that I really like this band. It was around the time when Tao was leaving the band, so it wasn't the best time to join this fandom but I learned a lot about the whole K-pop industry thanks to these guys. They also taught me that I shouldn't judge them by only one of their MVs and (probably not best) outfits and maybe that's why I always try to give a chance to a new band whenever I hear about one. *-*

So yeah, I just felt the need to share it with you guys since it's Jongdae's birthday. ^^ Not to mention that it's also Jinyoung's birthday from GOT7 and probably a lot of other people celebrate their birthday on this day as well. If you happened to be one of them, happy birthday to you, too! <3

Anyways, I'm curious about your stories. How did you get into K-pop? Don't be afraid to share your long comments with me! :D

(Of course, I could write another long blog post about getting to know BTS and other bands but I don't think you would be too interested. But if you don't mind my crazy rambling, I can also share them with you. *-*)

Now, getting back to the boring weekdays and constant studying... Fighting for everyone who has started school/uni! We can do it, guys! ;)

I get into kpop because of beast or actually after I listen to Fiction(it been played on radio). The song make me searching the singer and since then I becoming a maniac b2uty ><. At that time, yoseob is my ultimate bias!! You know he's so cute and he has really high note make me wonder how come male voices can in sing with that high note. Really, back there yoseob is my everything. ^^ When I know beast deeper, I start to like the whole of them :D . Then Infinite "Be Mine" really struck me next, the resultant of me being Inspirit till now ghahaha. Next I start to stan APink since I watch their APink news ( actually I watch it because there is beast in it as a news reporter ^o^ sooooo cute lol). Told ya, APink really talented as they never fail to amuse me wif their infinity talent!! In 2013, "Wolf" era yeah I start following exo because wolf sound so addicting that makes you wanna hear and hear it again. That makes me becoming an exo-L now ^^. And yeah I also a cubestan so I cheer on all cube-dol artist ;D Next then I start following VIXX during "Voodo Doll", the main reason is = Lee Jaehwan! Really guys, I put him in first place on my most powerful vocal list. Ya all gotta hear his high note it's damn high!! Then in 2014, I followed GOT7 (if you guys remember at that time is exo year, and they said got7 snatched exo popularity which is not happend at all actually), so I check them out to see what so good but then bambam really attract my eyes soo haha I decide to be IGot7 also kekekee. Annnndd the last group I stan is Lovelyz !! Yep, at first I followed them bcuz of infinite, but then they are all talented so I have no regret on stan them till now. This year 2016, I not an Igot7 anymore. I don't really hv that specific reason, but can be asked if curious. Mine very long ghaha btw thats all from me \^o^/

I first got into SHINee's music years ago and then forget'em for a long while. Then I was brought back by VIXX in 2013,then B.A.P and got familiar with EXO through fanfics, and then,they were the ones who made me stay with kpop,and also BTS and GOT7.
As for the person,Kai has been my inspiration since I got to know him.

i think after i watched bigbag performing their song “ tonight ” on 2012 somehow i get attracted to know what is kpop. after digging about kpop i know exo and a year later, i love them before growl era. so when kris leave exo i was kinda upset but its okay maybe its for his own good :'))) yeah ive been with exo for about 4-3 years

Yes, fighting! The weekend is almost here!

About half a year ago, BTS's song "Fire" had just been released. It was all over Instagram, and after hearing the melody (and seeing their ridiculously good looks), I decided to check out this group's other songs, which I ended up really liking. Instagram posts lead me to discovering and watching "American Hustle Life" and "Rookie King." I just remember really liking their fun, friendly personalities. I did more research online and listened to their older songs, which I loved, as well. Before long, I was listening to their songs (secretly during class XD) on a daily basis!

Kim Jongdae is a god ;w;

I discovered K-Pop waaay back in 2005 and DBSK was my first group :')
My aunts were the ones that showed me K-Pop, as DBSK's was their favorite group at the moment. I was mesmerized and still am, even after 11 years passed by xD currently I'm multi-fandom trash, complete trash lol but my faves are DBSK, EXO, Infinite, Red Velvet, SNSD, Girl's Day and my ultimates: f(X) and SHINee <333
Lmao the first time I saw Call Me Baby I was like ??? but hey their hairs are on point (most of the time lol) so I can roll with this shiz, that song traps you lmao

Aaaawwwww I love that it was the adorable Jongdae that got you into K-pop!!

I fell into K-pop by accident. I used to love J-rock and J-pop and I heard this song one day and found out the singers were Korean, so I looked them up and it was DBSK! I listen to a few of their songs and then Super Junior made their debut (I've been into K-pop for quite a while! XD) and it was all downhill from there! I just fell into the world of K-pop and never tried to get away from it! I came for the good music and stayed for the amazing choreo and amazing people I discovered along the way! =D
