Appearance  There's nothing entirely striking about Shen's looks. Compared to most in the kingdom, she's probably considered the plain Jane. Though, she guesses it fits since she's just the 'stable girl'. Her hair is a bit longer than most servant types, just below her shoulders in a typical brunette color. Her eyes are narrow, in the color of chestnut, her nose is slim set, and is thin and the color of red. Her skin, though fair, is entirely simplistic and a void of no pimples or acne. She's not too tall, and she's not too thin. style When working at the stables, she wears simplistic clothes of casual wear. A ruqun, with a pastel blue forming the blouse top, and the skirt a lilac (purple) made of cotton—she wears it when out of the palace and not working. when working, she wears a long tunic (one made of hemp the other cotton) with her feet bound (as most woman bounded their feet because of beauty styles back then) and her shoes simple blue slip-ons. She owns one hanfu, casual compared to most, and gifted to her by her mother when she was young. A 'future gift' as she called it. to be used when she got older.

# how innocent do i look   you wonder, ever so passively, about the stable girl with the brown hair. She seems normal, doesn't she? prospectively average, with no tale tail sign of adversity or difference from others. she wears dirty overalls, and white undershirts that scream normalcy that it makes you cringe to the point you look away. how could someone as normal as that, live in such a diverse kingdom like this? she seems simple in her ways. Focusing on her jobs, and her jobs only. she gets up, she eats, she works, she goes to sleep. never once deviating from her strict path in life. at least, that's what it seems like to everyone else. She seems to be like one of those sweet as apple pie country girls, who have nothing better to do then act nice and be nice. Sometimes she'll crack stupid jokes, which has brought along the reputation that the quiet stable girl is actually quite funny. Despite the fact that her jokes tend to be sarcastic, and maybe even rude (mainly to herself). though she's too phlegmatic to actually react to people's own reaction. She's composed well, and (as said before) won't deviate away from that. People find that everything she says is sincere and that her nature is good-hearted and kind. She seems to be optimistic and helpful—the type of person you turn to in tough situations and or hard times. She seems like the person who you lean on, and cry in front of; because, you know she won't judge you. At least not in front of you. She probably keeps it to herself more likely, and judges you within her mind. Though, you can't blame her. She's stuck dealing with multiple people's problems; because, for some reason, they always go to her. Even the royals. but, again, she "seems" too nice to ever say that it bothers her. and never lets anyone on.
# because trust me, I'm not  in secret, and in dire moments of stress and hate, shen's true side shows to the world like a bad mixtape. you could say she's like an anti-hero. in her deepest darkest moments, she become the opposite of how people perceive her. disrespectful, in the worst possible way. she does not care what the line of royalty means—she will yell, hit, or kick whomever or whoever she needs to. whether the person is royal or not. she's vulgar—attacking with vicious words that cut the person's heart rather than skin. her words hurt people dearly; but, she never regrets after everything is said and done. one thing she knows, is you can't be remorseful. In her eyes, remorse is a form of weakness and her main goal in life is to stay strong. for her late father. and even though she has no clue how to fight; or even how to form a fist; she will do so if the situation calls for. She won't back down from a fight whether emotional or physical. she tends to be self-critical of herself, not in appearance; but, in the way she acts and lets herself let loose around people that she shouldn't. she shouldn't be nice to everyone. that makes them think she's weak. she shouldn't be caring towards the royals, especially the ones who caused her father's death. and she should even think of falling for anyone. romance is for those who can afford it. and she's not one of those people. so even if the kingdom assumes she's the sweet-hearted angel from above, she might just be that dark-hearted demon from below.

                      # inner demon am i going crazy? I think i am.

# hatred for you  after she found out what happened to her parents, Shen's life turned into a vengeance mission that she tried to convince herself was actually revenge. A strong hatred for the woman her foretold of her father's evilness; has lead her to be where she is. she can feel it in her, the hate. it starts in the pits of her stomach and runs through her veins, coursing through her system as she goes through her day to day life. her heart beat quickens, her blood pressure increases, and she feels adrenaline pumping through her system. she doesn't understand how she can act so normal, and good working near the person who did what they did to her father. if ever she figures out what to do with the situation, she knows she'll wind up doing something unforgivable. yet, despite her pacifist nature, she wouldn't mind killing because of the hate that fills her system. and because she's stuck acting so kind and caring—it just makes that hate run even higher, and higher. And although she knows, deep in her heart, her father wants her to just move on. She can't. she has to get revenge for his death.

# the beautiful days of the past  Shen was born in a time in which, many lower class families died off. Whether it was from lack of substance to pay for food or necessities, or being wrongfully jailed and killed for a crime that they didn't commit. Her parents, were technically, of the lower class structure. Peasants as they were referred to. Her mother, a simple maid for a wealthy family that lived near the sea, and her father was a stablemen. Whom took care of the horses at a twelve acre farm owned by another wealthy family. Shen, was thus raised, in wealthy places. She worked with her mother. Whom carried her on her back while she was a baby. Or she hoped around the stables watching her father take care of all the horses. Despite what many had said about the lower class. Saying, that it's unlikely to live long fulfilling lives, Shen found herself enjoying what she had. She loved her parents, and she loved what they gave her. As time went on, Shen failed to realize the differences in her parents, and how her mother was suddenly changing and shifting into someone she no longer realized. Sure, her father stayed the same—as she was with him most of the time. but, there was something off about her mother. She would learn soon, what that was. At the age of seven, Shen found herself lost. She walked into the stables one day, hand in hand with her father. About to go feed the horses (her favorite thing to do) when all of a sudden—like a blur—her father was on the floor, pieces of hay stabbing him all over. She was shoved to the side and forced to watch as officers from the county, speak nonsense about her father having done something beyond what her simple mind could comprehend. she wouldn't find out, until later, about what happened. At the law enforcement center, Shen watched as they dragged her father off into the back. She heard screams, loud over the top screams, before it just stopped and the officers came back. No trace of her father. They glanced in her direction, told her that her mother would be coming soon, and that was it.

# what happened to our time together  She was stuck there for hours, wondering. What happened to her father? Where did he go? She didn't speak to anyone. She didn't even look at them. Her mother, she never appeared. She never took her home. Shen was forced to wait and wait, until the officers got a call from her mother's bosses secretary whom stated that her mother was giving her up to her uncle. Thus, Shen found herself in the custody of her mother's elder brother, her uncle. He came to the station maybe two hours after the officers received the call. Shen had heard of him once, maybe twice. Her mother despised her brother; but, Shen had never met him to actually form an opinion. He whisked her away to a strange place at the age of seven, another kingdom (eudiamona) where he lived alone. Having never married, (and obviously never had kids). He worked for the palace as a horse wrangler. Shen guesses that similar jobs run in the family? Eh, who knows. She had no idea where her parents were. If they were alive, or why they left her. instead she found herself in the care of a silent man who only gave her short sentence responses, and never actually looked at her. never made eye contact. just kept to himself. she found herself becoming colder to anyone she came across. She didn't like talking to people. She wanted to be alone, to think. She never had time to think. there was one day, in particular, that she didn't even have to think to know that something was going on. Her mother. Wearing a beautiful hanfu the colors of orange and yellow, was walking the halls of the palace. The only reason Shen had spotted her, was because her uncle insisted that one of the servants in the kitchen had left scraps aside from last week (lettuce, and carrots) for the horses. Shen left for them, keeping her head down, and using the servants corridor. She glanced out to the side, and there her mother was. She had her arm wrapped around a mans. she didn't recognize him. but, one thing was for sure, that man wasn't her father. Shen didn't know what to do; so she went ahead and continued her duties. Late that night, while her uncle slept, She started to think back to the day of her father's disappearance. He didn't truly disappear. She had learned somewhere that people of the lower class were commonly killed over the littlest of things. Yet, she didn't know what he did for it to do so.

# times have changed, haven't they  Her life had been turned upside down in less than an hour. Her mother married to another man, her father dead. What had happened while she wasn't paying attention. she had to figure things out. She may have only been fourteen; but, that doesn't mean she wasn't intuitive. Her uncle was the only source of information. After work one day (once again she was helping) she requested information about the day of her father's disappearance. He wasn't opposed to telling her, and instead told her everything he knew. He said that someone, a shaman of sorts (Wuism), told of a prophecy to a powerful king that says three men are to grow powerful and join the rising opposition power to the kingdom. And in four years time, the kingdom would be gone and the King would be dead. Supposedly the king was the paranoid type, and requested a painting of the men. His guards cowered the nearby countries, and had the help of officers to find them. And even though there was only three foretold in the prophecy, The king caused the death of many. Including her father. (the king, as of now, is located in a kingdom near the sea. Not far from where Shen grew up. it's NOT eudiamonia) Shen wasn't sure what she could do. Shamans (especially ones that work for the royals) are well regarded. Even more so if they've done something similar in the past that was true. Such as perceiving the birth of a male instead of a female. and a shaman who tells of a giant threat to a king, is on solid ground for the deaths of those who might cause it. Her uncle told her to focus on the future, not the past. Her father wad dead, whether or innocent or not—there's nothing she could do. By this time, her mother was the last thing on her mind. She did not care for her mother, not anymore. A woman who gave her up for no apparent reason, didn't deserve her care. But her loving dead father, deserves it all. As she continued to grow-up, she began to figure out bits and pieces of the mystery behind her father's death. despite telling and promising her uncle that she wouldn't. as she grew up, Shen raised in the ranks of her job. Becoming the stable hand for a few different horses (of Minseok, jongdae, and jongin)

# but that's okay, i'm not scared anymore  At the age of twenty-three, she met the shaman. It was an accident. one of the servents that Shen had become friends with (a cook's assistant) requested extra help for the dinner party the king was hosting at the palace. Dawned in her mother's hanfu (and with the permission of the main cook) Shen was allowed to be a servant for the night. All she did was bring plates to the main dinning area (only staying for a beat too long when she heard the sound of music playing. beautiful women on stage playing a beautiful tune.) Near the end, the shaman took center stage to wow the royals with a poem. As poems (usually) from shamans were considered gifts. Shen and her servant friend were nearly at the end of their service, and were waiting in the kitchen which shares a wall with a dinning area. They could hear everything. Shen didn't assume that that shaman was the one who told of the prophecy. not until someone in the room, asked the woman of it. and the shaman concured and said it was she. Shen was in shock; but, was soon told to continue her duties. giving her no time to think. a few days later, Shen came to find out that the Shaman is now a permanent figure at the kingdom, from the queens request. Now, a court sorcerer instead of a traveling individual shaman. Shen never talked to the woman; but, heard about her frequently from the ladies maids, and servants. she's not sure what she'll do to that woman. Kill her? maybe, but she's not a fighter. It's not like she even knows how to hit anyone. her hatred for the shaman grows as she continues everyday life. Shen never believed in Shamaninism in the first place. What if the woman was wrong? What if the prophecy was a fake? her father was a good man, and because of a woman who 'tells of the future' he's dead. And now that Shen's older, she wants revenge more than anything.

# the quiet uncle - Liu zhenghan - shen's uncle took custody of her after her father's the death. although he tends to stick to being quite and unmoving in his ways, she gets along fine with him. they don't talk much, and she likes that. she considers him her closest 'friend' but doesn't truly see him as family. mainly because it's not like they know each other. they talk after work, and in passing. He's technically 'her boss' so she's always respectful (she would be even if he wasn't her boss) and never tries to get into arguments. when it comes to the situation with the shaman. the two disagree on where to go with it. he thinks she should just leave it be. but she wants to do something—even if it causes her death.
# the deathly shaman - wu qian - Shen hasn't exactly met the shaman in person; but, hears of the woman frequently. she's supposedly nice, but silent (much like her uncle) and is growing in age. As of recently she's been looking for a prodigy and believes that she or he, may be in this very palace. Shen wants Qian dead; more than anything. and once she figures out a plan, she will stop at nothing to do so. even if she dies.

# my past does not define me  Kim Jongdae was born the second child to a very sophisticated and not necessarily loving parents. His older brother,  although kind, was more focused on his studies and his parents opinions, to care for his younger brother. before jongdae could grasp the subject of math, his two other brothers were born before nearly all his other brothers from the consorts and concubines. and although he tended to stick near his younger brother Jongin, jongdae never dissed his half-brothers for having mistresses as mothers. sure, he felt bad for his own mother—he never quite understood the lining for a king. so many consorts, and concubines while his main empress has to be alone and watch as her emperor, her husband, goes off willy nilly with every possible woman. oh yes, jongdae has heard the rumors of his father's flings with maids and all the other servants in the palace. nevertheless, his childhood was fun, at least to him. he sent his guards and servants crazy by running through the corridors of his home, and hiding in the kitchen where he stuffed his face full of pastries while stuck in the pantry. or running his brothers mad by telling corny jokes and forcing them to chase after him. he was the wild child, who never cared for formalities or titles. he never wanted to be a prince. he was only given the title at birth. while his brothers vive for the crown, he kept in his own world.

# tomorrow is yesterday, and today is tomorrow  even though jongdae never cared for his duties as a prince. He was a free spirit who did what he wanted. His father didn't much care that Jongdae didn't want to achieve the title of 'king' one day, and let the boy do what he want. His mother, on the other hand, was not pleased. Determined for hers sons to achieve greatness, she pushed jongdae harder than her other sons—despite his resistence. over time, Jongdae truly tried to do what his mother wanted. he read his material, and practiced his studies. and although he hated it, he always tried his best (sometimes). He knew his brothers were a lot better at everything, and that he surely at all the things he was good at. Instead, he practiced his other talents. Besides hiding, riding horses was a favorite, and fencing is another. while his brothers became well-rounded princes, he began a one-track minded guy. And maybe, just maybe, that was his downfall. Instead of focusing on learning like his brothers and his relatives before him. He became the prince who trusts everyone, is kind to everyone, and has no flaws. maybe, that's why he is the way he is. Much to his mother's dismay.

# I'm not like you but that's okay  jongdae has always been his own person, compared to anyone else in his family. He strayed away from the normal path and became his own person. most of the time, he could be seen as the type of guy who was extremely kind and fun to be around. He pulled pranks on the servants and guards. He laughed loudly in a situation that shouldn't be laughed at. He brings his mother random presents like a pretty (yet trampled on) flower that he found in the court yard. He takes care of his younger (and older) brother. everyone in and around the palace knows Jongdae to be the child who lost his way. he strayed away from royalty life and focused on his own goals. He found his own path in life, and won't let anyone stop him from being who he wants to be. sometimes he's looked down upon for it, and maybe that's why he became so confident in himself. if others are rude to him, it means they're threatned by him. And that doesn't bother him. He likes the attention on him.

# I'm my own person, and that's good  over time, Jongdae has come to harden his shell as a person. he's not always the good natured kid who laughs and plays pranks on the palace. He has his hardships and people can always see it when he's down or upset. He becomes his sad self that pities himself and tries to make other's pity him as well. Or maybe he becomes a bit too harsh with people. Lashing out. One time he got pissed off for something stupid and Jongin across the face before the two got into a full blown fight that ended in him falling to the floor in tears. When his temper gets the best of him, he finds himself throwing fits and hurting people who get to close. (Usually Jongin) though, most of all, he becomes his own worst enemy. Unlike his brothers, he never learned how to tame his anger and instead lets out in rampant ways of destruction instead of small fits of frustration.

                 # inner demon  am I going crazy? Probably
absence of interest  and tiredness  # sloth

# my own worst enemy  as royalty is what royalty does, Jongdae just doesn't fit in. he wasn't made for this life, and his father is beginning to realize that. His mother is filled with worry that his father will never let Jongdae be anything more than a face in the crowd. while his mother wants him to reach for the stars in the sky, Jongdae has never cared for that. While he battles his royal background, his mother battles him to be a better prince.

# how we met  Jongdae and shen met when she was the age of eighteen. She had finally reached the position where she could handle an actual royal's horse. And it was Jongdae's. He had come to the stables while she was brushing the horses mane, and was calmly doing so. Jongdae thought it would be hilarious if he scared the poor gir by screaming 'boo' the minute he touched her shoulders. Shen freaked and buckled her elbow backwards smacking the kid in the face. and making him fall to the ground with an 'oomph'. that's right, Shen had assaulted a prince—on accident but still. Somehow, she had managed to bandage his head, while apologizing profoundly yet still blaming him for everything. he was in awe, though mostly because he was slightly out of it. But when he gained his sanity, he couldn't help but laugh. That was the last time he was ever going to mess with stable girl. (and he held that moment over her head quite a few times actually, using it to get her to answer a question of his.)

# can we be friends  the times after Jongdae would try and befriend the silent but supposedly kind Shen; though, she always declined and gave him this look that says to leave her alone. Nevertheless, he took it upon himself to be the main person in the relationship. By talking non-stop and following her around while she worked. Yes, it bugged her incessantly. But he also talked about the shaman (even if he acted like qian was the greatest thing to ever grace the palace halls) which is why she agreed to let him follow her around and talked like a mad man. Hoping one day he'll say something of importance, like a weakness to the shaman. shen was never quite sure why he wanted to be friends with a simple servant who had nothing on all the royalty that passes through the halls of the palace. he never stopped. The truth is, jongdae feels like he gets Shen. they're similar. they're thought to be nice, and that they don't have any flaws; but, they do. lots of them. and he likes that they're similar. he wants to be friends with her because he feels like she gets him. And although, in the long run (if ever they get closer) she's bound to hurt Jongdae, she doesn't care. Because for someone like her, friendship is something she cannot afford.

# comments  I hope i didn't take too long. Hopefully, you like her. and if anything needs to be changed, please do tell. ^^ # scene requests  Shen meeting the shaman at some point.  Idk, just drama please :) # others  you can use her for a cameo if you would like.
