Well, let's start with the super popular series, Harry Potter and the Percy Jackson series. A little lesser known but still very amazing series is the Artemis Fowl series. I'm currently reading The Devil Wears Prada which is about the life of a top fashion editor's assistant and how it screws up her life and her relationships with other people. Also, I loved Fat Boy Rules the World. That book had a lot of character development. There are a lot more. Message me if you ever read any of the recommendations or need some more.

The entire Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy". All six books. Although the last one isn't that good, probably because it wasn't written by Douglas Adams (he had died before it was written).

The Immortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare are good (but just read up to book 3 and stop if you want things to finish cleanly)
The Book Thief (Death pov is like whhaaaaaa so cool)
The Boy in The Stripped Pajamas (first book I cried in I was 12 and felt so lame XDDD cos I cried bc of an actual book)
Noughts and Crosses (au where whites are oppressed instead of blacks)
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (total classic I loved it)
