Hello. This is still weird to say but I was evacuated from my hometown of Fort McMurray yesterday. If you follow me on twitter you might already know this and if you watch the news regarding Canada, heavy forrest fires drove thousands of us out of our homes.

My friends and family are safe, as am I, but I don't know when we'll be allowed back in town, as the section I live in is still untouched by fire. 

My parents are currently in Newfoundland on a short vacation so my Brother and I got our pets and left with our cousin. It took an hour to make what is normally a 15 minute drive, not knowing if we should go North or South to get away from the smoke. North leads to the power plants and worker campsites, South leads out of town and goes to other cities and towns in Alberta. We went South and I'm glad we did.

I just really need to say this. I was scared. We were crawling through the City I was born and raised in and we could barely see through the smoke. There was fire visible in the treeline and the sides of the road were on fire and burning. 7 pm, when the Sun is still up, everything was grey and black and the Sun was red behind the smoke.

I know people who lost their homes, went into buildings and areas that are no longer there, and it still feels like a dream...or nightmare. 

We slept, if you can call it that, in the truck an hour out of town and I could still see the rising smoke. We were given free gas by very kind people and  we booked rooms at a site camp a few hours away and we're staying here until we can go back, should be a week or two. I have no doubt that the fire can and will be dealt with but I left a lot of things behind. I have my wallet, phone, charger, and dogs and thats all I'll need. I did not bring my laptop and  its completely out of place for me to say after all that but no updates to any fic until further notice.

And on the chance my house gets targetted by looters and they find my laptop, I hope they enjoy the copious amount of written gay . Everything's turned into a real show.
