Types of shippers & readers

I was bored and was having a discussions with my friend. We're both huge fans of the "types of" series and there's like a lack of that about kpop. So here you go XD

I'm actually thinking about making this a series lol. If you liked it, tell me what you'd like me to make a list of next.

Shippers.

1. The delusional - me x idol. Needless to explain. They are the kind that gets really mad when their bias is dating, they are ridiculously posessive although I don't know what gave them that right, they day dream about dating their idols. It's stupid. Or on AFF, it kind of translates into this "you" tag that I never understand. I never read any of those fics. Hell I don't even read OC fics in general because majority of it has terrible plot lines, poor character building, over-used kdrama scenes and is just delusional. Some can be really good though.

2. The match maker - boy idol x girl idol, usually but not restricted to artists under the same label. They jump at every little or even non-existent interaction. Or idols that went on WGM. Idols that chose each other as ideal types. I don't usually deal with these sort of people, because I pay very little attention to girl groups so I'm usually stuck with my people. But I will assume that they are similar to the next sort of shippers.

3. The /yuri supporter - same idol couples, usually but not restricted to members of the same team. Ah, these are my people. Let's further break it down.

i. The very-convinced believer - basically people who take it too seriously. Recognise that majority of all that skinship and ambiguous words that drive fans mad with imagination is largely part of fan service. Understand that while there is nothing wrong with being homoual or whatever, there are still straight idols as well. These are the people that get really angry when one of the involved idols is dating (or is being rumoured to), over-analyse the reaction of the other, how "he's heartbroken" etc. Just don't. People's emotions are due to a lot of things, not just love-related. Sehun is very sad when Luhan left, can't it be because Luhan was a great brother to him? Before you go too deep into this whole lovey dovey assumptions, recognise that they are great bros and friends that share many things (experience, dreams, achievements etc).

ii. The selective, casual believer that wish for the idols' happiness - the more chill ones in this business. Casually enjoys the fan service and coo over it. Read fanfics and appreciate the content/plot/message, not the loveline. But there are those couples that they believe to actually have something between them. For me it's yunjae & hanchul. I'm pretty convinced that they once felt something for each other that can be classified as romantic. At the same time, I'm also willing to accept that it was then and I don't care if they are dating other people. Shipping is one thing, all made-up and self-imagination fueled by idols' fan service and occasional real moments captured unexpectedly. But being realistic is another. All the yoosu shippers hearts broke when Junsu is found to be dating Hani. Hell, all the kyumin fans cried rivers when Sungmin is getting married to an actress. Eventually, we get over it, and perhaps it takes longer for those few couples that you truly think is something different.

iii. The very, very casual onlooker - they are basically in for the fun, they appreciate fan service, enjoys the interactions, but no strings attached. Largely me and a lot of casual ships.

4. The troll - minfood, for instance, is a troll ship. And jae-kitty. Basically trolling. It's the best ship to me, because it's totally casual and absolutely hilarious. I love these ships XD

Fanfic reader

1. The demanding - I'm talking about the kind of people that I particularly hate. These are the people who leave comments about how they hate what's going on, how can (this character) do this, they have every problem about what you write. I've came across some people like that (not on my own work, thankfully), and I've actually seen writers apologise for their work. Like why? You shouldn't have to give in to them! Those people are rude as hell, so you my friend stand your ground because this is your fic, your story, and your writing. Tell them to back the off and you write it the way you want.

2. The scuba diver - the ones that read your story, subscribe to your story, maybe even upvote your story, but they just simply do not comment. I think these people are most commonly found in the angst section. I myself is an angst writer, but this one time I uploaded a fluff fic (some kindergarten yunjae thing I have no idea what unknown force blessed me with the idea), I got way more comments for a two-shot than I was expecting. I sort of understand though lol because I do the same most of the times - I only comment regularly on crack fics or fluff fics if I ever do read them. It's easier to leave comments than an angst fic.

3. The patient - the kinds that subscribe to your story when they discovered it (just uploaded or on-going), but only reads it when it's completed. I'm in this category too lol, except that I usually don't subscribe. It's either I only read completed stories, or subscribe and follow up with every chapter. Since the latter is really draining on my mental health, I tend to not do it very often.

4. The urgent - the kind that follows your story, and every comment they can write includes "please update soon". It's nice to know that people are very interested in your story and all, but they can get a bit pressurising at times. They're sweet people and all, but I would appreciate it if they tell me other things before mentioning updates. And nah the "can't wait for your next update" isn't part of this crew, they're awesome, always telling you what they enjoy in every chapter before mentioning their anticipation.

5. The congratulator - you know exactly what I mean. I click on any featured fanfic that I'm interested to find out more about, and when I scroll down to the comments section it is practically all "congrats on the feature!" I can't say if I hate it, because I'm the kind who appreciates meaningful comments about the story, but I guess it's nice of them to say nice words too ^^

6. The critic - those who write long, meaningful, novel-like comments, usually only available for completed stories. The kind of readers that I love the most. Also the kind of reader that I want to be. I only do this very exclusively though, for stories that have really touched my heart. I love to know what people think of my work, and I love it when we exchange thoughts.

7. The dedicated - the ones that followed the story from the beginning to the end, always dropping sweet comments, urgh how I love them.

8. The inspired - the kind that got reminded of emotions and other things through your story (esp prone to groups that went through lawsuits). I know this particularly well because back in my immature days, I wrote an angst reunion not really fic for DBSK, and practically half of the comments had AKTF in some form.

9. The presence - these are the people that find a need in commenting on every single chapter when they're reading it (esp when the story is already complete), it's almost like a reaction video if you ask me. I find such things largely unnecessary but they can be cute sometimes XD

10. The analyser / foreteller- they are particularly common in fics that involve plot twists. The kind that lists theories, throws wild guesses and would go back to read, and re-read the chapters, trying to predict the ending. Like "I think baek has cancer", "I betting that taehyung is the killer" etc.

omg that troll ship - baekhyun x obama ahahaha

there's also the type of shipper where you're stuck between shipping idol with yourself and shipping the idol with another idol (cough JJ Project cough).

and there's also the type of reader that simply subscribes to your fics and is never seen again.
