movie recs (1/?)

Because I'm a movie maniac, I'm gonna list you all the movies you should watch with a few description about it. This is in no particular order, because honestly, I can't compare one movie to another since they are great in their own way. So here I go:

1. Spotlight

This just came out last year in the theathres, but I just got a hold of it last month and for me, it's an amazingly thrilling movie, full of suspense and mystery. This movie tells the story of how Spotlight, a group of journalist in a newspaper company who specializes in unraveling deep cases to the core for years, to uncover the truth. They usually bring up unfinished cases, and in this movie, they cover and delve themselves deeper into the case of kids and teens who are ually abused by priests in the Catholic church, and how none of those cases always ends up slipped under the rug. If you like detective type of story, and movies that make you think, both from the logical and psychological point of view, this movie is made for you. There are scenes that made me think twice if the villain is really the villain. There are no ual scenes of the itself, rest assured, but you will see how these young boys react when they are asked to describe the experience to the journalist. It shows how all of them are still haunted by the experience, and how they have their own reasons that made them unable to fight. It was very heartbreaking to see them like that, so please prepare your tissues while watching this story.

2.Biloxi Blues

This one is about a young writer who is serving his duty in the army, and the movie tells about his whole experience in the army. And for me, this is a great movie, seeing how realistic things go in the army, from the seniority and all the captain being an (but his character is one of my favourites somehow, he plays the character of a strict and ruthless Captain well). There are lots of racial and ual jokes in the story, but I think that adds more colour to the movie to being realistic, and how young soldiers interact with each other. They are American soldiers, and they are trained to face the Vietnams for war. I like the way throughout the movie, they gain a sense of solidarity between each other whilst uniting to fight the ruthless Captain.

3.Boyhood

Wow, Boyhood, wow. This movie is actually a gem, though the atmosphere that I felt while watching the movie is calm (when I expected myself to be emotional) but it surely does its job in telling the story of how a young boy grows up in the course of twenty years. Yes, this movie is shot for twenty years with all the same actors and actresses, to really picture the process of growing up. I like this movie, but there are some parts in the movie they showed that didn't really move my heart, when my expectation is that, this movie is going to last along time in my mind. Despite of that, don't let my expectations affect you, because I have always been a little bit picky about growing up movies. This movie is great, and I think you should watch it.

4.Bridge of Spies

This movie is amazing! I highly recommend y'all to watch it! Not only because this is played by Tom Hanks, but because this movie is just thrilling, and also touching at the same time. This tells a story of how an American lawyer is signed to defend a Soviet spy by his law firm. Lots of political conflicts happen in this story, as the Americans eager to extract any kind of information from this spy. Then, conflicts also happen to the lawyer, torn between following the rules of a lawyer to defend his client or to succumb into the people around him, wanting the country's enemy to be imprisoned. My favourite character here is Rudolph Abel, the Soviet spy. You should watch the movie to know why, by the way. Perhaps you will come to like his character, too. Both these main characters are heroic in their own way, and I was so glad that I didn't miss this movie.

5. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Now here is the movie that made me weep so much. This story tells a story of how a young boy deals with the death of his father (played by Tom Hanks also) and this is a unique story, since the boy is clever and introverted at the same time. He lost his father in the 9/11 tragedy, and throughout this movie, he searches for any hint or clue that his father left for him (since his father always do these little things so he can travel from places to places and talk with different people). This is a moving story of how a young boy attempts to move on from the death of his father, one who is dearly close to him, and he gains a lot more things than what he expects throughout his journey. This movie is based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer with the same title, and when I read it, the movie definitely makes up to the book somehow. The cinematography in this movie is also beautiful, and I highly recommend this movie for you all.

That's all for now. I hope you will find joy in watching these movies also, and it will be nice if you can recommend me movies also, in the comment section :DD
