Let creative juices flow, yo~
So I'm pretty stuck on my writing, and one of the techniques I learned from one of my professors is to find inspiration from other people—both writers and non-writers. This is why I’d like to invite people to participate in some sort of writing activity that’ll hopefully squeeze creative juices out of us. YAY!
The procedure is that I’ll post a single sentence and then people will submit a single sentence related to the previous sentence, therefore creating a paragraph (or a series of paragraphs) that will form a story.
For example, I could write:
Lu Han lets his feet sway over the freshly-mown grass as he sits on one of the seats of the white swing on the city square.
So then, user #1 submits this next sentence:
Glancing down, he inhales the freshness of the night air and exhales ever so inaudibly, or so he hoped.
And then user #2 submits this next sentence:
It was more of a profound sigh, but he was chary not to make it look so.
Then user #3 decides to submit this next sentence fit for another paragraph:
Jongin stands leaning against the maple tree, with a vacant expression up at the sky.
(Note: Sentence examples came from one of my drabble stories.)
The sentences can run on forever, but it would be better if there was a sentence cap or a deadline, which I will pick!
The rules would be that:
- Any one person can submit only a single sentence (with ample amount of words and punctuations) related to the previous sentence. I do want to reserve the right to edit for proper grammar and spelling.
- This is generally free form, so the topic or theme of the story can change from one sentence to the next. HOWEVER, I reserve the right to pick sentences that go well with what I perceive as the flow of the story. (It can be fan fiction, it can be free prose, etc.)
- Submissions can be made through comments on this blog or through andanteallegro.tumblr.com for non-AFF users. Anyone can submit! It does not matter if you’re not a native English speaker/writer.
- Submissions must refrain from copying or lifting from existing stories. Please, this is a writing exercise so I appreciate original submissions.
- When the final output is made, I will give proper credit to whom it is due.
Is anyone up for it? Let me knooooow.
If ever, the first sentence is:
I could swear I once met a person for whom poems write themselves.
I give us all two weeks to write submissions. So the tentative end for this is on: 2 April 2016.
